Oh shit, it's about to happen? Could it be timecycles?? [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] Custom heist music?? [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] Did they just add one more hour? [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] ?
Accidental time-zone screwup. It's been corrected. Yeah, one more hour.
;) It's exciting. I can tell you that much.
Can you at least tell us if Overkill is part of this
It's lastbullet, i just expect a mod and if the site is supposed to be a clue then it's skybox/time of day related. I wouldn't overhype myself too much.
It's lastbullet, i just expect a mod and if the site is supposed to be a clue then it's skybox/time of day related. I wouldn't overhype myself too much.
LB staff said there's not only the time of day thing
Whatever it is, mods always improve the game significantly where Overkill won't always. This can only be good.
Is it not loaded for anyone else?
Yeah, just wait a few minutes. [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] Timecycles are cool. Choosing the color of the sun though... not really interested.

meh
This is p cool.
basically modders can do more stuff now, including some map editing.
Yeah, just wait a few minutes. [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] Timecycles are cool. Choosing the color of the sun though... not really interested.
BeardLib allows the full modification of everything related to the time-of-day. Fog values, sun intensity and color, sun rotation, etc etc. This hasn't been possible before now. It also has some soft level editing support (to be expanded on, trust me), and allows you to access script data remotely. It cuts out the need for a ton of .PDmods. As we progress, it'll become even better and better. BetterLightFX is an amazing extension on the lightFX present ingame, and makes the feature accessible for anyone, not just Alienware owners. ToD mod is a great application of BeardLib, and the entire re-work of PD:TH HUD put a smile on my face.
More stuff for modders, ok. Let's hope it gets put to good use. At least time of day is nice, I'm downloading that one.
It's cool but why isn't Overkill cooperating with the modders to make stuff like the better light sfx and the time of day transitions official things? I mean this, alongside other stuff the modders have done should have been in the base game imo.
The BeardLib level editing bits are a small portion of what's being used on.. bigger mods. But it's still rudimentary. We're expanding as much as we can, but no promises how much we CAN expand.
So what exactly are the ramifications of this, what sort of things can we look forward too.
Well, a lot of environment mods from it, people can make edits to levels for singleplayer use (though it's only really good to lookin' at and not playing, so far), since you can access script data remotely, you can do some wild stuff with sequence_managers that wasn't really possible before... As BeardLib is updated, the possibilities will extend. Read over documentation to get a better idea.
Wow, Time of Day is actually the timecycle system copy-pasted from Minecraft. You see the sun travel from one point to the opposite one, after which it is instantly replaced by a moon that will do the same. Now when you do the H&T bank, you enter the bank in the morning, and when you exit it 15 minutes later, it looks like it's midnight! Soooo immersive! Seriously now, I'm gonna see if I can't tweak a few things in the lua files to make this mod less of a joke. [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] The file options are indeed much more satisfactory. This should be good.
Wow, Time of Day is actually the timecycle system copy-pasted from Minecraft.
What Anyway, maybe make the heist start at a random time and double the total time for the cycle (40mn?) would make it better

BeardLib is pretty neat. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/352770708590211226/70B467B22F02FB1748AF4D962F622D0FF76F3F77/[/t] I replaced that door for the room up the stairs on Watchdogs with a metal one that can't be opened. And I also did this: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/352770708590105826/535C7F3BF96B25BD9FD9465C42F46E00C44370DD/[/t]
And since you can choose what sky texture to use for day and night, I'm trying to make cool things like; you arrive at a museum at dusk, and it's night when you leave. But the thing is quite jumpy, I should wait for more updates.
You're not actually choosing the sky texture, rather loading a different .environment file. The .environment files include things like lighting, color grading, skybox texture, lens flare settings, etc.
Are you sure you know what copy pasting is?
I meant that it works the exact same way. A rip-off. Only not actually ripped off, you know? Anyway, I've already managed to slow down the timescale, much better. And since you can choose what sky texture to use for day and night, I'm trying to make cool things like; you arrive at a museum at dusk, and it's night when you leave. minecraft invented time of day cycles
minecraft invented time of day cycles
Okay, let me explain it. Comparison between Minecraft and Time of Day: - During night as well as day, the sky is just an image rotating on itself. - There is little to no transition between the two, the image changes almost instantly. - The moon follows the exact same path as the sun. - A full day lasts about 20 minutes. How's that for immersion? So I repeat, that default timescale is ridiculous, and I can't see the author getting the inspiration for it from any other thing than Minecraft. Even days in modern GTA games are much longer. Anyway, tip for everyone: to change the timescale, open TimeOfDayCore.lua, find the two instances of "100" not being part of a filename, and change that number. The higher the longer the day. I tried to tamper with the fog settings but it looks like you can't get as much fog as in Transport: Underpass on any map just yet. I hope that'll come. And rain, please.
Just because a system is similar in how it visually functions and conveys to the user does not imply it is actually similar in its code and if it is, probably because code can only be written so many ways. Code is like any other language and there is only so many times you can say "Hello, how are you?" Beyond this, Minecraft is built in JAVA whereas this is in LUA to my knowledge. While coding languages are similar, there is some very real function and format differences. Yet again like real human language. Even if you mean nothing by it, its honestly just really lame to call it a "rip off". In-fact it feels a bit insulting to see " Only not actually ripped off, you know?" It just comes off as very disrespectful.
What he said is very disrespectful. I'm not sure if he fully understands what a difficulty getting environment modding via lua was, let alone Diesel's limitations in regards to what we can do with .environment files. The project was started back in.. September? Or earlier? It's very exciting to see it released but comments like that are terribly disheartening.
stuff
The point isn't that it's "immersive" or "super realistic" or even "never before seen in a videogame", it's the fact that it's been done at all. The game going from not having a cycle at all to having one, however basic, is amazing. It can only be improved upon as well. Also, as for the day length, heists in this game are not that long. It's rare that you actually sit on a heist for an hour unless you're doing a really long Cook Off or White Xmas or something, so having an accelerated time is fine so you can actually see it. Not to mention it's not hard to change yourself, as you've proven. Again, for this being a mod that adds something completely unprecedented to this game, an actual feature addition instead of just a HUD mod or a little LUA weapon mod, it's amazing. It's not like it can't be criticized, but calling it a "joke" is just being a dick.
What he said is very disrespectful. My only problem is with the timescale, but I really like the mod and am trying to see how far I could take it to improve the game's atmosphere, and I'd be excited to see it updated with more features, such as weather choice. I didn't mean to come out as a dick; it's only normal to criticize this mod, someone's work, because a single major thing about it is in my opinion quite bad. But I realize by calling the mod "a joke", I may have come out as rude. But, truly, I applaud the modder for his effort (ViciousWalrus I think?) and will watch future updates. Though first things first, a little guide to explain how to customize the settings would be nice. Because there's nothing, I'm just left fiddling with numbers at random. But again, I don't mean to be rude. My comment wasn't meant to be disheartening, it was to be encouraging, but I completely failed that. In any case, a little more help with changing mod settings would be the first thing for him to do in my opinion.
