I, for one, welcome this silly payday. I have way better games for seriousness and realistic encounters, I want over the top explosions of stupid adventures.
Which only makes it a more mind-boggling decision. This most likely wouldn't be well received no matter when they released it, and yet they go ahead and do this right after they've lost the trust of a majority of the playerbase. What could possibly go wrong?
And they claim they know their community. Christ.
Well you're asking OVK/starbreeze to take good decisions, and they've shown so far it's too much for them.

Silly =/= good
turning dank maymays into paid dlc?
now THAT'S overkill! xDD
Remember when this game was about a crime wave in Washington D.C.? Getting rich by dealing drugs, robbing banks and armored convoys, extortion, acting as paid mercenaries?
Me neither.
At this point it'd be kinda hard to accurately mark when exactly this game stopped treating itself seriously. Like... what is this even supposed to be? How exactly does this tie in with anything? Half the game suffers from this.
Framing Frame? Framing a politician.
White Xmas? Vlad being a walking, talking stereotype.
Hoxton Breakout? Orchestrating a breakout of one of the most wanted criminals.
Meltdown? Stealing nuclear warheads with absolutely no repercussions.
Slaughterhouse? Robbing a gold transport and escaping from right under the cops' noses.
Aftershock? Vlad wants safes for no serious/sane reason whatsoever.
I know that at this point people are going to react negatively to any form of paid content (which is not entirely unreasonable in itself) but it doesn't help that everything they've released so far after the black market update has been paid advertisements and a rushed fix to weapon balance that didn't really solve anything
If this is the stream of content that the black market update was supposed to fund I am unsurprisingly not impressed
Didn't take them very long.

Well that resolution failed pretty quickly.
Why are people reacting like nobody expected this and this appeared out of nowhere though. I think it was teased a long time ago and ever since I had zero hope for this. It may be a good heist, but Hotline Miami still seems like the best collab there ever will be.
Honestly, looking at the screenshots, the heist seems really nice with quite a bit of locations.
Also everyone on reddit acting like this heist came from nowhere when it's been leaked way back before crimefest 2015 :v:

Not everyone know, and it could (and should) have been cancelled

Shouldn't a natural disaster make a sane person go "well shit the product is gone i guess abandon ship"?

Consider the following. Hotline Miami gave us two kickass tracks (I still think these two are some of the better tracks by Simon), one of the most entertaining heists in the game (not to mention the time-spent/money-earned ratio is perfect on it), two new guns, four masks, and if you also own the second Hotline Miami, a whole character pack and four more masks to a total of eight.
What the fuck is GoatShit Heist's claim to fame, other than being a goddamned GIMMICK?
Ehh, whatever. The problem I have is the cost, not the heists themselves. Some fun, goofy heists aren't bad, the price is though.
Frankly however, I'd love to see more like the Point Break heists. Both of those are very heavy, very action oriented heists, they feel straight from an action movie. I'd love to see more in their style. Give me a good stealth heist that requires puzzle solving, trap dodging, and navigation skills, not just "Don't get seen by the nine respawning guards!" More action heists involving secret underground facilities built in to mesas and fighting through cargo planes.
Hell, give me one set like on a military boat. Could be a stealth or action heist. Sneaking through tight corridors in the dark, trying to toss bags of weapons or war loot off in to a dinghy below. Or running around above and below deck in a shootout. I want more stuff that makes me feel like I'm the star in an action movie.

Never said silly equaled good though. Overkill are way better making a silly game because they've shown they are way better at this than a serious heist game.
(Stop being a negative nancy about everything; I don't think it's contributing to any valuable conversation.)
Other thought : do you guys think having the cops have a variable amount of max health would fix the weapon damage meta going on ?
Like having the cops health start between 80 and 120 instead of fixed 100 health. That way you can be sure the most damage on a weapon, the most killer it's going to be overall, instead of that 40.9 whatever ultimate damage threshold that even if you pass, it's kinda useless.

Implying vlad is a sane person

Honestly this is the first really silly heist in the game, and the only other DLC that was THAT weird was pure bullshit (chivalry pack)
How do you want me to be positive about that? The only good thing we can really get from this is free content released with the DLC,or maybe an okay heist gameplay wise.
I'm all for being non-serious and throwing a bit of comedy from time to time. But I never thought Payday would be fit of going the TF2 route. I mean I said it before but Payday in general would work much better if it was actually more dark and took itself a little more serious just like the Left 4 Dead series.
One of the main reasons the first game was great it's because It had a sense of humour, but it actually managed to balance that with a much bigger focus on the darker aspects of the game's theme.
I don't think Payday can be serious anymore.
Certainly not while it's possible to run around in suit with a flamethrower and a rocket launcher reviving players with the sheer power of voice and killing hundreds and hundreds of cops and mini-bosses.
All the while soaking thousands of bullets, regenerating life by hitting cops with a bottle of whisky and temporarily turning invincible and having infinite ammo upon dying before moving around dozens of gift packages full of giant toasts in the middle of a forest populated by cloakers wearing santa hats. :P
and it could (and should) have been cancelled
Guys relax, you haven't even seen any of it outside of a few screencaps. :v: I haven't tried it myself for a while but before I went on vacation I gave it a shot and it is a really fun heist.
Anyway, trailer was fun to do, but I hate animating anything that has more than 2 legs. It kills me inside. I dunno why.
Pretty much the game post Crimefest 2014
Gimmick Day 2

Never said the heist would be bad gameplay wise
It's just the fact that it's:
-Another crossover
-A crossover with a totally related game
-A crossover with a quite bad game
Bonus point because we'll have to pay for it
That's a bit rude towards Overkill, I personally think it would be pretty cool if it turned out they used my thing.
Sure would've liked if they asked permission to license it first, but hey.
It not rude if looking how the game progressed after it's "release"
Missing promised features.
Near amateur-level quality on the levels, some textures and 3D models.
Visual glitches that are in the game SINCE the release in 2013.
But hey, shitload of DLC, Microtransactions and lazyness on almost every corner.
Atleast the music is absolutely godlike.
God bless you, Simon Viklund.
yeah this looks pretty detailed, and at least they tried adapting goats to it, I mean transporting drugs inside goats is a good idea.
hoping it'll be fun and not one of those gimmick heists that you'll never come back to after doing its achievements
This would be pretty funny if it was free.
Feels like a bit of a piss-take when they want cash for it.
And people complain games like Undertale are meme games. Fucking hell.
Eh.
If the heist is actually good I won't mind it.
the heist looks alright and I don't mind the memes but I don't wanna pay 7 bucks for it
At least they're giving all the wacky heists to Vlad. His heists should stay crazy and insane, in my opinion.
It's sad that the heist is yet another paid crossover, though, but I feel like it's gonna be fun, we'll see. Not to mention that it's a 2-day heist too, we didn't get those since forever.

Payday 2 can't be serious anymore that's pretty clear. What I meant was that if it actually resambled the first Payday with a semi-serious tone and a moviesque atmosphere would be 10x better than it currently is. (My opinion)
I don't mind the heisters walking around in suits while carrying a rocket launcher on their shoulder. It's a gameplay mechanic. It doesn't really break the emersion with the criminal life theme as much as a heist where we have to transport shitty CS:GO skins vaults to a safe point or a heist where we have to babysit fucking goats.
Out of curiosity, let's see what the people who still follow this thread think. Rate my post agree if you're buying this DLC at full price, disagree if you'll never buy it or dumb if you'll buy it on sale.
