Was in a hoxton breakout pug and the game was glitched and no cops were spawning. I mentioned that I used to hack quite some time ago and that there was a hack feature that could disable cop spawning. I asked if anyone was hacking. One of the guys in the game says he has proof of me admitting to cheating and that he was going to report me. Me and some other guy accuse him of trolling and he kicks me from the game. Thing is, I was already dealt with for hacking. Overkill reset my stats. I eventually came back to the game and have been playing legit and it's been a lot of fun.

u dont get a stat reset ever for cheating, thats not a feature and was likely just a steam cloud/corrupted save thing
Also when someone says "I hacked" what they actually mean is "I googled payday 2 hacks and with a few clicks I got everything feed to me without any effort". And I don't want to begin with people that can't follow basic instructions.
Just little things that bothers me.

It seems you have 2 options. First one try editing renderer_settings.xml. But the limit is 135fps. The other option is using the Bundle Modder and apply a mod that let's use 144fps BUT since it edits some files in the bundles updates may be bigger and would require verify files sometimes.

He means the refresh rate, not fps.
Either way, I've had the same issue, try going to C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\PAYDAY 2\renderer_settings.xml and there should be a refresh rate setting inside to 144. If it still resets then just do the same thing again but make file read-only. Hope that helps.

C:\Users\Fendermcbender(this is the name of your user on your computer)\AppData\Local\PAYDAY 2
open renderer_settings.xml with a document editor of your choice, like notepad, find this line "refresh_rate = "(whatever it is)" and change it to 144
