I question continuing support on an operating system that has reached end of life as this opens up its users to massive security risks. There's a point where it's simply not the developer's job to provide support anymore and using outmoded and insecure hardware and/or software is one of those points. Good for them, but I feel like there are better ways to allocate their resources.
Does Wine for Linux not work on Payday 2?
Without the need for Wine
Edit: Really dumb? Whats dumb about wanting proper linux support without having to use Wine?
There needs to be Linux support for Payday.
PD2 for Linux and Mac are being worked on.
Was mentioned in either one of their random announcements or during one of the many interview\dodge everything\ask the same questions for the 100th time things.
Edit:
This is were Starbreeze announces support for SteamOS
That's from March this year.
Where the fuck is my nokia brick phone support Overkill it's not outdated I swear
Where the fuck is my Gameboy support Overkill?
Can I have Commodore 64 support, Overkill?
Why don't any modern AAA games support my Babbage's Difference engine?
My abacus is having performance issues when i try to play Payday on it, could OVK rake a look?
Boston Saints is one of the easier achievements, just play Rogue/Grinder with a friend.
I really almost never run rogue/grinder builds or akimbo builds at all. So any general advice on those would be appreciated.
Also, about the XP thing, yeah it's an outdated platform but a lot of people still use it and their system requirements when they launched the game said it would run on XP, as far as all their blatant instances of false advertising go it's kind of a cop-out to be fixing just this one, but better than not fixing any.
Can I join too?
My watch is having framerate issue with Payday 2. Might be because I tried to overclock it.
You guys reminded me that Payday mobile is still in development.
I'm late to the party, but I'll give it a go.
Payday 2 keeps crashing when I try to run it on my XP installation, but thankfully Overkill are working to fix it!
[editline]You won't even see this if you don't quote this post.[/editline]
For the record, I don't support Overkill any more after the whole safe thing. But I think it's stupid to decry them for working to fix a bug that suddenly prevented part of their user base from being able to play the game they paid for.
Hi I'm from the future, where's my Windows 17 support?

What am I even drawing anymore...
On a different note, I've fully converted everything to postrequire. Now to go back to fixing iron sights/optics....

Sorry but if you can't afford to upgrade from XP there are better things you should be spending your money on than Payday. The game is far from cheap and XP is no longer secure. It's a bit like buying fancy leather seats for a car with faulty brakes: you need to look at your priorities.
I'm not saying anything new here, but frankly Overkill are wrong to advocate use of obsolete products, especially when that time could be spent on something the community actually wants.
For the achievement "Tough Act to Follow", how do I know which missions have I done, and which ones I haven't?
Also, if I get the achievement for doing all missions on Overkill, do I also get the achievements for doing it on Normal, Hard, and Very Hard?

You can check the contractor menu and see how many times you have completed a specific mission. And no, getting the Overkill mask won't unlock the other ones.

Windows XP is listed as a minimum OS requirement in payday 2's product page, there's likely plenty of people who bought it with that in mind, either before or after XP's support ended and still haven't changed from XP for whatever reason later.
It'd be bullshit to just stop supporting XP and then remove that mention from the store page without atleast providing some sort of an alternative (or refunds) for those that bought it because of their OS being supported by the game, like what happened with risk of rain. Obsolete or not, people could've bought it for these reasons.
Alongside, far from cheap? The lowest price point of payday 2 is 5 euro with the GOTY collection being about 12 euro. Compare it to how much windows 8 or windows 10 costs. Which seems more affordable to you? Especially with inability to easily find windows 7 for sale now.

Not for someone on XP, the free upgrade's only for 7, 8 and 8.1 owners.
I don't understand why it's a problem to continue to support a PROMISED platform
Especially with how attached some of you are to the word promise

I sympathize with you regarding the cost and I agree that it's a dick move to suddenly drop support when it was compatible before, but Windows XP is 14 years old and predates the release of Payday 2 by 12 years. Official support for it has ended. It is three OS generations out of date. This is like complaining that Unreal Tournament 2004 doesn't support Windows 3.1. It's time to move on. The price of a new OS is a fraction of the price of whatever modern machine will run it.

I thought somebody might argue this, and while it's true that the base game or 'GOTY' edition have been quite cheap in the past, unfortunately if you want to experience the game in full, you have to buy more. It's sad but every update they release is either introducing more paid content, or fixing the various bugs introduced from the last DLC.
Also while I agree that OS's by themselves are quite expensive, it's been a long time since any computer was sold with XP pre-installed. Even a cheap new computer would have either 7 or 8.1 installed, and if you're still running XP, presumably the hardware would be better or transferable from the old PC. Although if you're savvy with that stuff/used to building computers, then you're also probably used to coughing up the cash for new parts. An 8.1 license is cheaper than a new GPU.
still no cop skins
still no cop skins
The Halloween event ends on Thursday, my guess is that they'll patch out the spooky stuff and the crimefest/sputnik safes then release the COP stuff
When someone says cop without the caps I'm like "you want reskins for the SWAT guys?" and then I realize

Some hot pink SWATs is exactly what this game needs.

UT2k4 did not come out stating that it would support Win 3.1 on launch so I do not see anything wrong with Win3.1 not supporting it. Forgive me if I did not understand the comparison you were trying to make.
Mind you, I'm not against them dropping support for WinXP nor against encouraging people to move to a newer OS. Just give the people a warning ahead of time or some sort of a compensation or at the very least provide an alternative version that is no longer going to be updated so that people could play the game again without having to go into warez.
If say, theoretically, that UT2k4 supported Win 3.1, and at some point a patch came out and dropped it's support. It's a problem but still not a big deal because you can just reinstall the game and update it up until that patch and still play the game you paid for. You can't do the same with payday 2 on steam.

I'm not a long time payday 2 player, I personally got payday 2 GOTY as a gift in first place alongside my friend circle with whom I generally play. Only a few of us spent additional money on it. I myself only got the sokol character pack and one of my friends whos generally the host got the remaining 3 DLC heists.
None of us have really had an interest in getting the other DLC's because most of them just seem like gimmicks that you use for the fun of it a few times then get back to what you've used before.
Personally atleast, the amount of DLCs you get from GOTY is enough to make it feel like a full game because only few of the weapons are locked behind DLC outside the melee which mostly function the same. Especially as you can join the DLC heists.

I do agree with this though. But personally the reason to upgrade should be security and ability to use most recent programs.
People shouldn't have to upgrade because a program they've paid for and have been using just fine suddenly stops working because of an update that had no mention of breaking compatibility for their OS in advance.
I'm sorry if something is written in a weird or stupid way, please point it out and I'll try to correct it asap.
Haha, an announcement for an announcement. Fucking hell.
