They didn't even say what they're apologizing for. For the distress they've caused? They're so afraid to mention skins and boosts.
'we're sorry that people don't appreciate our excellent and flawless updates'
I stand by what i said before
Payday 2 has dug a hole that they can't get out of
They're too deep in to save themselves
We've done a lot of things right in the past, but these past few weeks we screwed up.
Just these past few weeks? How about the disastrous launch, Hype Train and the many passive-aggressive addresses to the community in between? Overkill just can't keep saying they'll get it right next time, they're not inexperienced indie devs. The company's been around since 2009 and it's been two years since Payday 2's launch yet still it's disaster after disaster. They should have ironed out any creases by now instead of taking giant strides backwards. Sometimes Almir is evasive, sometimes he doesn't even try to hide the fact they care about money more than anything (see: Reddit AMA). This post is just a poor attempt at saving face. He acknowledges that they're sorry, but he doesn't provide any resolution. On the contrary, he just says they're going ahead with more crates - the thing that pissed people off in the first place. It's so vague that he doesn't even say what they're sorry for. Is he apologising for his own bullshit too, does this post negate what he's previously said on the subject?
In short it just feels like they're being purposely evasive and giving a general apology to please as many people as they can, despite the fact they're just going to push microtransactions further. By now they're empty words, actions speak better and Overkill have taken none.

Actions > Words

you want my advice for this heist? don't. just don't do it. go outside, call a friend and go do something. call a loved one and catch up. do your hobby of choice. just don't do this heist.

my illustrious award for stealthing it (it was a mint condition bow of the first unbox I got a while back)
As long as Pay-2-Win skins exist Payday 2 will forever remain uninstalled on my steam library, as a painful reminder to always think twice before buying DLC for a game.
edit:
Wow some sucker actually bought my lame spraying roses minigun skin for 20 bucks lol
Well maybe the VO update will be good. Nice to have some info about that. Currently I don't see myself ever buying drills or their DLC but I still want to see how they'll handle the game. Who knows, maybe they'll do something cool.
now we have to wait another 8-9 months for that final COP reward?

They made apologies and gave actual informations about stuff like the meetings,etc... That's nice.
I might reinstall for christmas then.
As apologies go this is incredibly shit.
Does it even replace stats boost?

About 40 seconds in comes to mind when I see this. It's incredibly easy to just type "I'm sorry" on a keyboard and post it on the internet. Meanwhile the actual issue (P2W crates) is completely ignored in favour of a generic "we dun done fucked up" apology.
I mean, the apology could be about Mexican Week at the company cafeteria and still be 100% valid.
If we talk about BF4 in the context of that video, DICE Stockholm/LA did a wonderful job of updating the game periodically and now the game is better than ever. Their Public Test Environment has helped the game quite a lot.
As far as I'm concerned, Almir's words are just precisely that, words. Words designed to try and convince consumers that have felt betrayed to come back into the fold.
Words have no meaning if they are not backed by (positive) action, and whilst an apology is the "right" direction to go, it means so very little when there's been no further steps attempted to fix the mistakes. If Overkill expects me to continue supporting them, they need to do more to convince me to not take my wallet elsewhere.
Are we lucky enough to get our own Overkill developer on Facepunch?
Yes. I signed up to take part in that initiative because I feel I have the ability and experience to do it. So you'll see more of me on Reddit and Steam in the future.
Also I might not have posted in like 3 weeks but I still read the thread every day. I just haven't had anything to say since it's been a bit disheartening to see a lot of ripping on the entire studio.
I get what you all mean of course, and even if it isn't directly aimed at me it does feel like an "unwelcoming" gesture, if that makes sense.
if that makes sense.
It makes sense. I just don't understand why the higher ups at Ovk aren't doing anything except for issuing non-apologies and looking sad on camera.
Does anyone have a guide on how to mod your own skins?
It's justified for you not to post a lot Coyoteze
I am pretty sure that people have calmed down a bit by now and won't end up getting rid of their anger on you
I stand by what i said before

Pretty much this
If anyone thinks they could just remove skins is completely unrealistic.
They'd have to refund every single weapon on the steam community market and somehow figure out who did trades on the market to refund them as well, or else there is going to be huge lawsuits in place. As far as I know, that isn't possible, there has never been a steam market refund system. I'm not saying their apology was good or what they did was good, but thinking there is a magical solution to fix everything is just unreal.

You're always welcome here no matter how we feel about overkill at any given time.

You provide quality content in your specific field and that's all anyone can ask of you. What the higher ups do to fuck shit up is irrelevant. So keep at it bro
As already stated, saying you're sorry doesn't mean anything if you don't actually do anything to make up for it. Overkill has probably some of the worst PR I've ever seen from any business.
it's been a bit disheartening to see a lot of ripping on the entire studio.
It's mostly a matter of convenience to be honest, instead of having to explain every time that it's the management to blame and not everyone at the studio.
The lab rats halloween heist was a depressing reminder that there's still people with great ideas and passion for what they do working there
Just always remember when you're reading something on a forum ripping on your game/studio, never take it personally and understand for many of them it's the frustration talking. Focusing on the feedback and ignoring the negativity is the only way to stay sane

Tbh nobody has been really saying anything this past week. The thread has been pretty much dead silent. Specially now that the big names that used to come here have stopped posting altogether.

All of this isn't his fault,no one's angry over him.
But after all he does whatever he want.
As far as I know I don't think anyone was really made at Coyote, just mad at the situation and the higher ups at OVK. I don't think there's any reason to be mad at people within the company like him that are just doing their job.

Definitely not for this recent fiasco, we've established by now that when we blame Overkill for microtransactions we mean the higher ups that are actually responsible. So the recent backlash is aimed entirely at them and not the proper game designers. With that said we do complain about poor balance, lobby animations, SWAT vans etc but those aren't the causes of the recent outrage.
