The slow firing rate is compensated by having much higher damage per shot for the UMP.
The greatest distinction between UMP and MP7 would be accuracy imo.

I thought we were talking about the MP9, I don't really care about the MP7 but I don't see any reason to buy a UMP over an MP9.

i've had dinks dealing 66 damage with p250 so that tells something

But it also deals more damage to trade off for that. I'd take slower fire rate with higher damage in most cases. UMP also has a movement speed advantage that is not negligible, especially for SMGs. Personally it looks to me like the UMP was designed more for T-side and the MP7 for CT-side. The UMP is cheaper, has the range advantage (due to the fire rate/damage tradeoff), and lets you move faster. On the other hand the MP7 has more bullets and a quicker reload time.
is gold nova hard for some people to get? i've never been below nova 2 and i find the novas extremely easy

6 more damage per shot isn't important on an anti-eco against people with no armor.

yeah a lot of people are stubborn when learning and find it harder to employ basics into their gameplay

About 6-7 months ago I was stuck in the endless spiral of MG2, started playing again about 2 weeks ago, got my rank at MG2, played a couple and got to MGE today, 2 games and wins in MGE I get put in DMG.
What is the rank that I will be spending 100 hours on?

Literally took me 2 weeks from MGE to DMG, got demoted/promoted 3 times to DMG and then 2 days after the last promotion I get eagle. :joy:

My team and I were winning ~9-2 in a competitive and this happened to the enemy team in the following order..
Two people get votekicked for no reason
One of their players disconnects and gets comp banned straight away
One of the last two players on the team votekicks his fellow teammate
Few rounds pass..
the final guy disconnects and we are left with fighting bots.
During halftime, the bots automatically surrenders and we are left confused on what the hell just happened.

We were winning with some guys 6-0 yesterday and they proceeded to kick each other until there was one guy left. Ended up winning 16-1 because the guy was an LEM smurf and we didn't really play too seriously ( Negev + Zeus all the way )
And all the kicking happened literally in one round, so at the start we're facing a full team, then the next round we're left with one guy and 4 bots.
i jumpscouted a russian, then... i translated what he said in the chat.

UMP totally plows at close range though. It's my second favorite SMG after the MP7.

I have ultra-trouble using the UMP. I don't think I've managed to get kills with it without luck being responsible. The recoil on it's insane but I guess it's just a matter of learning it.
MP9 and Mac10 are probably my favourite SMGs especially for anti-eco, but depending on the map they're both viable in buy rounds. The MP9's insane fire rate and high mobility is really handy when holding tight corridors such as apps on Inferno or secret on Nuke

Is it just me or is high rank matchmaking on EU North full of scriptkiddies and ragehackers?
Every 3rd match, if not every other, I get matched with someone who is pretty obviously walling. Few times matched on same side but mostly matched against because premades.
