Sigscans aren't detectable, crawling huge regions of memory is the same as what an AV might do. If Valve wanted to combat RPM they'd ban for stuff like constantly reading recoil.

Why is this getting dumb ratings? As far as i know you are giving steam right to see ALL your running processes and scan your memory aswell. It doesn't even matter if a certain hack or cheat is doing anything to your game. If steam detects it running on your pc when it does a scan, then it flags you.
You are giving this right when you agree to steam terms of use.

Steam only bans for stuff that is flagged as malicious. Some less popular overlays do get you banned in some other anticheats, because instead of blacklisting (VAC) they use whitelisting.
Why would anyone think they only scan and ban for stuff that is doing anything with the game?

You gave them right to scan for your running processes and right to identify your machine. If you ever run a hack and later on it is blacklisted you are banned. Simple.

Ofc VAC is more careful about stuff that is fiddling with game, but it's not right to say you are safe from ban if you don't do it.

EDIT: Correction. My point is that it is wrong to think "im safe as long as it doesn't read/modify game memory".

Also to BINARY: Modifying and hooking to draw calls is fine. It's not considered a hack, unless its blacklisted.

Man, I just got back into CS. Finally got ranked at Gold Nova Master, but ever since I got ranked, every single game I've played in (about 4) has had deranking smurfs. They literally just sit in spawn and fire grenade themselves. I report them, but that doesn't do crap for me. I'm about to get deranked.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I wish there was a way to report an entire match.

over here, about every casual assault server i joined was a 'boost server' and there would be 20 people running around making sure people got their hostage pickups. the ct's would all go and pick up the hostage, then get executed so the next guy could pick up the hostage, and so on. the T's got their kills and the CT's got their hostages and everybody was happy.

there were always a bunch of tryhards though, and that ruined it quickly, although one server I was on managed to kick all dissenters across a whole 15 rounds, but you could always find another one easily. for the record, every game of casual assault i joined was dedicated to hostage-rescue farming.
