Thing is, if you didn't manage to reach rank 3 before this whole rank thing showed up it's too bad for you. Doesn't take long at all to get there. You must've been ignoring playing on your main for it to end up with your main being < 3

Ye you're right. I should have ignored my education, jobs and friends so I could go play video games by myself.

None of us had the fucking time. We get maybe one night a week to do some CSGO comp as a fun little thing and now we'd have to dedicate way too much time to play silver 3 comp as a group.

Now I'm stuck trying to scout or awp at 3fps, or go on casual servers where I can only go CT but I need to plant the bomb while still at 3fps.

Combine that with the fact that casual is now overloaded with MGE plus trying to get their smurfs active, meaning that getting the points needed to rank up is way harder for anyone with a lower rank.

Basically valve just fucked over any and all new or non intensive players to prevent a problem that really only affected new or non intensive players, while making the likelihood of smurf encounters greater as they're the fastest ones to level into MM right now.

DM is more consistent XP but probably also less fun (casual xp is dependant on factors other than your own aim)

I think the only way it can work is with unranked comp. I don't think I ever would've gotten into the game if this was around when I started, casual/DM/whatever else just suck compared to 5v5 MR15.

I ran a security scan to find the issue and apparently I downloaded a trojan the same day the trade happened and I was able to piece it together. I was playing with a guy I knew and he gave me a link to his team speak. In order to join however I needed to download a "sound pack". Every time I tried to enter the server would kick me out and instantly tell me to download it. While looking for the sound pack I guess I clicked on a bait link allowing some one to fish out my steam password (maybe the friend?) and take all my shit.

If they got into my account they most likely disabled SteamGaurd before doing the trade which would disable any alert. I'm kind of kicking myself right now because of it.

this XP system is seriously seriously shit. If it's not the beginning of the week, (what the hell constitutes a "Weekly bonus" anyway??), you get like 40 XP in a half hour game of casual. And that's if you're top fragging. And you need [I]waaaaayyy[/I] more than that to rank up. I don't know who designed the XP algorithms but they're awful and should be redone. It's stupid that on one day you can get ~200 XP for the same game just cause of some "weekly bonus".

Does playing arms race or deathmatch count in any decent way towards XP?

I'm not sure, but I don't want to play Deathmatch or Arms Race repeatedly to grind for XP. I do remember playing deathmatch and the XP being a pretty crappy payout as well, and I think I was second place. Also that stuff is not fun to play repeatedly for a long time. Casual is bearable since there are other people who usually use their mics and they're pretty funny sometimes. Plus it's a classic gamemode, and I can have a lot more fun in it doing other things.

Deathmatch and Arms Race are the fastest ways to level up, especially if you're good at the game.

And beginning of a week is the beginning of a Valve Week, e.g. Thursday

It's funny, I see all this hate against smurfs while my smurf is GE, actually above my main currently.

My smurfs got 1400 hours, 500 comp wins and it's ranked GE. I agree with everyone that it's bullshit that I now need to play shitty casual gamemodes to be able to MM again

They should have given automatic level 3 to people who are already ranked or something. Super fucking weird to restrict people who are high rank or any rank at all to not be able to continue playing MM.
