You just cannot comprehend the absolute shitfest it is down there, yes of course you can get out but it's not as easy as just try harder and get better, there's a lot of factors out of your control which get you stuck and I'm saying this as a player who bypassed that hell completely.
It's not just a silver league with silver players new to the game willing to learn. It's full of troll's, smurfs, hackers and of course shit players it just warps everything down there, your individual ability only gets you so far and in some cases it's not enough because you can only control what you are doing. I have a friend who was stuck in a never ending cycle of winning 2 or 3 games getting close to ranking up then meeting a hacker, smurf or greifing / bad team mates which would give him a heavy defeat setting him right back at the start, if they are 'ranked lower' than him then it puts him back even further. Yet within a week of playing with us in a 5 man he made nova 3, and 3 weeks later he was / is around MGE / DMG. We didn't have to carry him he knew exactly what to do, where to go made calls and just generally did not play like a silver, yet after 200 games MM still had him down there despite having obviously progressed beyond that skill bracket.
I would say getting in a 5 man is a great answer to this, but it's not exactly easily done.
When trying to rank up play maps with high potential for solo plays(Nuke, Cobblestone, Train, Overpass) Instead of the more classic team oriented flatter maps (Dust2, Inferno, Mirage)
If you play team oriented map, you will have to play as a team, most silvers are incapable of this so solo-queuing these maps are a bad idea. On the other end of the spectrum you have the solo-hero maps like Nuke and Train with an abundance of routes to sneak past enemies and play the brain-game that is CS. Play those if you wanna carry yourself out of Silver, or queue with friends on the classics in order to gain the advantage trough sheer superior coordination.
If anyone from Europe is bored I'm going to make a lobby to play Demolition and level up, my friend needs to get level 3 for rankeds (although he has 150 comp. wins... wtf)
So if you guys want to play 5v5 demolition for fun, add me and lets do it, it'll be better than playing mm with russians.
We'll be going in 20 min

1080p monitor, staring at it so close might as well use 600x800. Barely see anything other than whats around the crosshair.

In reality all he sees is the screen, with my setup for gaming like 70% of what i can see is not screen so I guess he just went for 100% screen.
Some casters call that "filling your eyeballs with counterstrike" and it's a very good phrase imo
Ruining your eyeballs is also a pretty good description.
lmao so mm just took a shit and put us against 5 legit silvers

Does anyone have any idea how many wins does it take to LE if you're first/second on the scoreboard?
Does anyone have any idea how many wins does it take to LE if you're first/second on the scoreboard?
depends on luck really
either you get it in 3-4 games or it takes you 10-12
assuming you win every time

When ranking up my smurf I didn't want to go full out but I always top fragged with decent stats and got LE, LEM 3 rounds after 10 tho
God damnit, every time I rank up I always end up bottom fragging after top/2nd top fragging in previous games. In other news I've gone from SEM to GN2 in the space of 3 days.

CT's are getting pretty brutal.
I think I just got a sick deal for my summer sale cards

now that i'm level 60 i think i'll finally see myself making money back, isn't that p2k worth a lot?
four of them also have nametags fwiw but that barely increases value
Just played a game with a blatant wallhacker who kept headshotting people at the start of the round before they even jumped past the opening at double doors.
Fun fact: a pre ranked to 3 account can be bought for $13 right now.
So now getting a hacking account is not only easy, it's actually cheaper than the game full price.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
So legitimately all this has done is add in a new market for hack distributors
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
And smurfs
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
and killed silver matchmaking
Honestly getting a smurf ranked at silver is really hard
Like finding that balance between getting kicked and being just bad enough is kinda hard, especially when subconscious gamesense and positioning comes into play
Afraid of my smurf getting ranked mg1+, trying to make every game a tie so i dont get my smurf ranked lol

All of those are worth almost nothing apart from the p2k and if the nitro is fn

I know a guy who literally mollyed himself to death half the time in his placements and he still got above silver

But if it's hard to get ranked as silver without getting kicked then why are there so many silvers?
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
fuck that
just got a comp ban for people walking in my line of fire
but i was the top fragger
CSGO really needs a forgive button for team kills.
Maybe they'll add one in 3 years.

Because its obvious when people are shit at the game and they get silver as their appropriate rank, however if you're a much higher rank pretending to be shit your instincts will override what you plan to do. Makes it hard to pretend to be silver without doing stuff like purposely throwing.
When you guys were talking about "Facepunch Nova game group" I thought you guys were all sporting the shotgun for fun.. in which case 0-16 obliteration doesn't sound so bad.
Funniest 'smurfs' happen when you play on GE/Supreme.
+Huh, nice shot man, you're destroying us and only have 20 hours, are you sure you're legit?
-I'm just smurfing bro
+Smurfing from what rank, we're 4 globals and 1 Supreme in this party?
I guess they've been saying the smurf crap to excuse their cheating since they were on Nova but they should find a new excuse for when they eventually hit GE.
And as a side note, I don't think any "smurf" can really go 40-10 vs globals with a new account, I mean, that'd mean he's Supreme First Global Legendary Elite Class 4, Master of the Universe or what?
I have an alt with about 200 hours, i play on it when i play solo. People tilt so hard as soon as you have a fairly good round, and after that point they stop trying because in their minds they've already lost. They're not judging the gameplay properly because they see the 200 hours.
this new xp thing is bullshit, 4k+ xp required to reach rank 2 wouldn't be so bad if they handed out xp by the hundreds instead of in the single digits. i made 9xp my last game.
nine.

Everyone was intentionally teamstacking because we could get XP faster, great system. Basing it on score also makes it harder for actual new players to rank up.
The system that stops people from ruining the game for new players also encourages doing just that.
