I put my knife up for trade on csgolounge for $100 through paypal, few hours later I get a friend invite from someone who seems pretty legit, had good steamrep he asks if I'll be using a friend as a middleman I send him his steam page he invites us to a group chat and then I get a trade request from my friend, however it turns out he had another account or someone else pretending to be my friend by changing his name and profile picture. As I said it was my own fault for not checking, it my own fault I lost it.

I only got matches against smurfs or hacks when I was LEM and I was still topfragging my team almost every time. 10th loss and I deranked and this game I had shit teammates and we lost even though I had 34-17 in KD I DONT DESERVE THIS SHIT

This is exactly what happened to me back in the day. Sorry it happened. I've started nicknaming all my good friends so I know it is or isn't them in case this happens

Middle man scheme is quite popular and Valve has made a lot of effort to decrease these scams.
They even added in trade window on top of it: it says if that person is your friend, since when he is your friend and [B]EVEN[/B] says if that users name matches one of your friends names.

Also if he renames himself to one of your friends - it should have a number in brackets beside his name.

At this point there is honestly no excuse for falling for it.

There are three main methods afaik:

Launch CS GO and in Console type: workshop_workbench
1) Just picking 4 colors for weapon (shitty way, barely any chance to get decent)
2) Creating a tiled patterns.
3) Actually editing UV map of specific gun.

Since we were talking about skin creation, I have a question about programs people use. Are there any free (or very cheap) programs or methods that allow me to paint the UV maps like the guy does it in [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiNASmArkxA"]this video[/URL]? I tried the demo of 3D-Coat and I liked doing it that way quite a lot, but since the demo only lasts 30 days, I can't really keep using it since I don't want to pay €290 for it. I tried Blender, since the guy said it might be possible with that, but I couldn't find a way to do it there. Already got Photoshop though, but no other program to do that kind of stuff with, and I really don't know how I'd otherwise get to do it. Painting onto the square, cluster-fuck UV map seems to be a bit too difficult to get anything proper out of.

Some people like GIMP, it's been around for ages so there should be some tutorials on it hopefully.

Just learn to paint onto UV maps with photoshop. Thats literally how people have been doing textures for models since forever and there isn't any real reason to do anything different.

Painting a 3D model I think is shit idea.
It wont end up precise, if you want to make skin that looks like it was just painted with spray can then sure that would work, but for precise lines, text, shapes etc.. you're better off editing UV map in photo editing software such as Photoshop or Gimp.

Photoshop CC can be used to paint in 3d; it isn't free, but something like $10/month is very reasonable imo. Aside from that I don't think there are any cheap/free programs that can do the same thing - it's a rather advanced technology AFAIK and can be quite hardware-demanding. IMO the best way to apply elaborate skins is to make the design in 2d then load up the model in PsCC and merge the completed layer onto the model, then manually edit the result.

Looks pretty precise to me. I used it, while the trial lasted. It worked just fine, except for a few things that didn't work out (eg. scopes on rifles) but that can be fixed in other ways.

You know you can get same UV maps but with default weapon texture applied which makes it understand easy.
