Will you be uploading the stream later? I won't be able to watch it live, sadly..
Yep. It should be on both Twitch and our YouTube channel. Edit: Stream is live! Feel free to come join us. We should be starting very soon. http://www.twitch.tv/blindmindstudios
Wow got in here just in time. So happy to see another SR being made. It's looking great judging from the pics and the info you've dropped. I'm hyped!
Don't have the time to watch for long, but it looks much better than SR1 already.
I fucking love SR1 but I get myself stuck doing nothing because I don't want to build ships that will just become instantly out of date. I'll be buying this for sure :) Watched the stream and it looks amazing, nice to see it running smoothly too!
Thanks, y'all. We're putting it up for archive right now so it should be up shortly for anyone to view at their leisure. Edit: We've put the stream up on Twitch's archive now so you can watch it at your leisure. http://www.twitch.tv/blindmindstudios/c/3638578 YouTube should have the stream soon.
How come Indie devs are the only ones doing 4X space games correctly as of late
How come Indie devs are the only ones doing 4X space games correctly as of late
Because strategy games as a whole are in short supply from AAA lately.
Because strategy games as a whole are in short supply from AAA lately.
AAA Devs are afraid to make Strategy games because everyone wants games that hold true to what they were 10 years ago but at the same time everyone wants to see improvements and have something fresh thrown in to make the new game as enjoyable as the last. Unfortunately a lot of strategy games have failed to do this and flopped horribly.
How come Indie devs are the only ones doing 4X space games correctly as of late
Because they're not afraid to try new things. SR2 has many cool mechanics that haven't been used before, as seen in the video above.
I really like the look of fleet management.

Each race begins with access to only one type and each comes with their own benefits and drawbacks. Such an important choice deserves forward consideration: we invite you to explore these unique means of FTL to find which best suit your style of play. You guys are getting me really excited for Star ruler 2. Really want to play this with a group of friends :)
I can't wait, I loved the first game so much.
This led me to buy the first game and I love it, it's really so fun. Looking forward to this. ETA is late 2014, yeah?
Well thank you very much, loopoo. ETA for release is sometime later this year, yes, with a potential earlier access available some number of months before.

When are you guys planning on explaining these "Energy Powers" you've been mentioning?
When are you guys planning on explaining these "Energy Powers" you've been mentioning?
At some point in the future -- energy powers are still in their conceptual design phase and will likely be one of the last things we implement.

Loving how you guys are doing the FTL technology a bit like how it was done in Sword of the Stars, that game is great. And this game is looking to be a hell of a lot better!
SpaceSector has put up an interview we did over e-mail that y'all might find interesting. Included with the interview are some freshly minted shots of the game, including a sneak peak at the new iteration of the diplomacy system. Check it out!
Looking forward to this. This is a good year for 4X styled games. I have to admit I didn't spend as much time as I should of with SR1.
We are now accepting applications for alpha play-testing. Simply PM me on the Star Ruler 2 forums to apply!
Applications are now closed. [thumb]http://data.glacicle.org/misc/uhoh/uhhhhh.png[/thumb] Being ambushed by an asteroid is now a thing that can happen. A long belated update On the development front, things are slowly coming together as we prepare for our near-at-hand Early Access launch. Energy powers are starting to show up, racial traits are slowly evolving, our art is being put through a polish pass, anomalies were significantly improved and can now tell mini-stories, orbitals were fleshed out, and a lot more. On the art front we should soon be able to reveal the look of our ships for the upcoming game. I'm also looking forward to developing and launching our marketing assets. Things are starting to spool up! We're discussing what we should talk about with the next dev diary and I thought I'd ask y'all's opinion. What would you be most interested in hearing about: Orbitals (Stations), Anomalies, or Energy Powers? Edit: Updated screenshots in the Media section.
We're starting up a livestream of alpha gameplay on Twitch right now: http://www.twitch.tv/BlindMindStudios
Gentlemen, start your Hyperdrive engines. Star Ruler 2 will be on Steam's Early Access soon. Details to follow.
what's the price going to be? i'll totally give this a look and play it
It's still under discussion. I hope to be able to more officially comment on that tomorrow but things are fairly busy right now.
Awesome, hope it will be more streamlined and have a better UI than the first one.
I can't believe this is the first I'm hearing of this game. It looks fantastic! If it was on early access I'd totally pick it up.
