I wish my reaction time wasn't so shit, getting kicked because of it is super shitty feeling.
why the fuck does this piece of shit game put me in a 4 stack of czech trash when i solo queue god damn
There's no teams, ladders are quite a fair bit more silent, the goal is to hit global or some arbitrary rank and then play with your friends. MM Is insanely far from real competitive gameplay, you can see the effects of just that on the facepunch cs:go league. It's not a bad thing, but it did take away a thing that used to be big in previous iterations of CS.
I mean, they could make team MMing but no one would use it. They had it in for over a year in Dota 2 and they removed because no one ever bothered with it. An in-game tournament system would probably do wonders for GO, especially for people looking into amateur tournaments, but that is another feature entirely.

Come to think of it, did dota differentiate between 5 stacks and team matchmaking?

Last I remembered there were a lot of competitive tournaments for CS:GO...?
I'm getting the feel that this "casual" type of matchmaking makes competitive CS seem less serious than what it was in previous iterations. Though then again GO is the first CS I played so what do I know. :v:
Soo, if the average in this graph is too high because of lying, how the fuck would Global Elite be average?
i was making fun of everyone in this thread, sorry it flew over your head
What was a big thing in previous iterations of CS? Which is why I also use the FP league as an example. Obviously people will believe what they want to believe about what I said.
I found this on Imgur earlier
Well, like I said, if Dota 2 is anything to go by, which is an equally competitive game, it's going to be shit and no one is going to use it.
I'm sorry, I still don't understand what you're trying to say.
Then there's not much I can do
Then there's not much I can do
It's unclear as to whether you want to keep the mm community out of tournaments or you want to get more people into proper teams?
It's unclear as to whether you want to keep the mm community out of tournaments or you want to get more people into proper teams?
The second. I want more and more people in teams, and more and more people to play tournaments. Even FaceIT tournaments are a solid start. MM and PUGs simplified and streamlined the experience, however, it had a side effect of basicallity removing the old need to have a team. Which makes it harder for actual communities to form. It's even shown in the way teams are handled nowadays. Teams used to have 6/7 players for subs for league matches. You had ladder games and league games almost every day, kept playing them for ranking points, competitive timer obviously etc. You don't have that with matchmaking, it stripped away that part. And now you end up with people confused by the concept of having to show up on time and a game they can't just not play when they don't feel like it (as I said again, look at the facepunch tournament). It's a musing and personal gripe, that might not neccesarilly really impact a lot of people, but the amount of shit you seen even on LANs nowadays due to the "MM mentality" as I call it is insane. [editline]12th October 2015[/editline] And if it's unclear, I'm not talking about any certain level of play or skill. Anyone can play competitively, but MM and PUGs are not it and I believe are just going to end up harming the lower end (fucking hell I'm not talking about massive cash money dolla tournaments you idiots) tournaments in the long run. Though things such as the SGL are coming back though which is good to see, and ESL, despite it's god awful website still has something going for it. But it's nothing compared to the tiered league system there used to be.
Okay, that's a pretty fair view. My view on mm is that is has helped me learn to play cs on a pretty good individual level (relative to both how I used to be and the distribution of cs players), but I also get what you mean about teams - I've tried to get a 5 man repeatedly and they always fall apart due to a lack of commitment, which sucks. Hopefully my University will have a team - if I get into Cambridge they have an esports pentathlon vs Oxford (Bo3 DoTA, LoL, CSGO, HS and SC) which would be great fun :D

But it's nothing compared to the tiered league system there used to be.
I see what you're saying, but I have yet to see a correlation between MM and the lessened "real competitive matches". We do have ladder/league games where teams have 6/7 subs, I know a couple people doing open CEVO who have to plan out matches every week and play them or their ranking/placement will fall due to forfeit. If you can somehow show me that MM is cause for people not doing "real competitive team league games" then I'd fully agree, but if anything, from what I've seen, it's bringing people into that kind of system, not driving them away. I see it more as though MM is keeping up with today while the team league system isn't. I doubt people who play CS:GO would ever bother making a 6/7 man team and participate in these kinds of events, so I'm not sure how you can say the Matchmaking system is the cause of the lower-end tournaments not occurring as much. It's not as though Counter-strike's main population in previous iterations solely consisted of players who did ladder matches, they're a minority, and likewise in CS:GO, they're still a minority. And you can participate in them if you find them.

It's one of the universities I'm thinking of applying to and this is just another reason to do so. Thanks! Where do you find stuff like this anyways? I never would've thought that'd be a thing
I can't see either of those clearly enough when I'm focused on my crosshair, and my reaction time to getting peeked takes a hit when I do look at them.
The situational awareness gained by paying attention to these things is more several orders of magnitude more important than the slightly increased danger associated with taking your eyes off the crosshair for a split second. Unless you have a monitor the size of your house, you should be able to pick up any red blips or kills popping up in your peripheral vision and glance at these things when it poses little risk. I'm probably looking at my map 10% of the time, not only for enemy indicators but seeing where the rest of my team is, this allows you to make much better-informed decisions.
Any GN teams interested in facing off against another GN team?
You know what i don't like about CS:GO? the toxic community. You know what i love about CS:GO? Being matched against a 5 man team who are toxic and salty as fuck, and absolutely curb stomping them into dust. Playing T side, enemy team loves to push us, so we wait it out every single round and less than 20 seconds into the round the CT side is down 2 players because they are over confident asshats. I Shit Ye not, their response was silver noobs camping in spawn. And yet they never learned to the point that we made a tower with Negev's behind long door and waited. Holy fuck it was amazing. The final round comes up and just to show these assholes we blitzed B site which they stacked and wiped the floor with them in under 30 seconds each of us getting a kill it was almost like swat. And on CT side we shut them down using fucking autoshotguns. Game ends, they're 3 Supreme's 2 LE's against a mismatched team of LEM's, 1 MGE and a fucking legit silver 5 who got his rank off the back of the win, who used nothing but the fucking UMP all game long and constantly beat their full buy's, behind me he was the 2nd best fragger in the match, he got his 10th win and got ranked as silver 5 back in the lobby. I just wish that was show in game they would have shit themselves and died from rage. I live for those gaming moments.
How in the hell he got Silver 5 is out of my reach
My sentiments exactly, he's a returning player and he certainly knows his shit but I'm guessing the 9 or more games previous to playing with us were with awful team mates, he most certainly earned DMG at the very least off the back of what he did in our game but ranking is a mysterious beast, and there i was secretly worried he'd be a liability haha. Also that camo hoodie on the far right looks fine to me, i mean it's not garish does not scream i play games or anything, I'd wear it if hoodies were not the universal attire of the Chav in the UK that is. Only 5 more wins till i get overwatch too, providing it's 150 wins you need.
"oh what's that you're a 2 stack? thats fine we'll just pair you with this 3 stack on TS who dont call anything out and dont buy in sync, enjoy!"
tbf you're only one up from soloqueuing when you're a 2-stack so you really can't complain too much. [editline]12th October 2015[/editline]
someone, somewhere, right now is looking at one of these thinking "these look great I'll buy one" poor fucker
I kinda want the hyperbeast one but it's got a really shitty placement on where it actually is. It'd be much better if it was right in the middle on the back.
