Just came second in "Magic Celebration" thingie, got a booster, promo and full-art card as a prize, as well as small intro deck and first booster. Feels great!
I just got back from one as well, first card I pulled from my booster was Garruk, Caller of Beasts. Made a lot of new friends all of a sudden.

Wow. You should've won instantly at this kind of event with it.
I was hoping for some M14 boosters too, but they only had Ravnica block available. It was even better, got some cards I needed for my deck.

Yeah, unfortunately they gave us the decks first then the boosters, and I'd gone for white. Ended up getting my arse handed to me by two black decks, and utterly ruining a green.
Wow the Black god was disappointing, I was hoping they would be saving the best for last but this is basically just good as sideboard unless you are running some pretty lategame oriented lifelink/extort deck
His ability is just a bad sign in blood...
Entered two events in the celebration day. Went white both times, pulled a Serra Angel in my first booster and an extra pacifism on my second run. Came second, and first at the events.
A friend dragged me to this celebration day. Never touched the game before so i thought, why not?
It was pretty cool, i won a pack and everything.
There was a hot girl there too.
It was a good day.
His ability is just a bad sign in blood...
Not really since it is repeatable; repeatable card advantage can always be good if you can sustain it. Compare him to greed rather than sign in blood since they fulfill somewhat different roles. I'd say he is completely playable, it's just he works much better as a sided card rather than a maindeck one
How do you guys think about this:
Collective Worldsoul (Version 1)
1GGWW
Enchantment
Kicker 1GW
If a spell would enchant or target a creature you control, it enchants or targets all creatures you control instead. If the kicker cost was paid, creatures you control have hexproof.
Collective Worldsoul (Version 2)
2GGWW
Enchantment
If a spell would enchant or target a creature you control, it enchants or targets all creatures you control instead.
GW: Creatures you control gain hexproof until end of turn
Collective Worldsoul (Version 3)
3GGWW
Enchantment
If creatures you control would be targeted by a spell or enchantment you control, it targets or enchants all creatures you control instead.
So, what do you guys think is the best and should be released? Or does it already exist?
EDIT:
Speaker of kicker, I think MTG should re-introduce old keywords into new sets so they don't become obsolete. Abilities that are confined to one set are really annoying when played against (Horsemanship, god dammit)
I really think good abilities such as
Kicker
Suspend
Modular
etc. should be reintroduced.
I actually just found out that slivers were called "slivers". I thought they were silvers all along...

It's okay. We've all been there before.
-snip-
I don't think it works, you would have to make a copy of the spell targeting each of them otherwise if you play like an enchantment aura it would make all of them enchanted by the same enchantment which is weird, and if you cast something like lightning bolt it could only do 3 damage to one target but it is targeting all of them
We did our Celebrations by saying that every player that already has a DCI number is barred from playing, but will act as a coach to all the newbies we brought in, so it was a good day, and somehow, one of the top players got two boosters, and pulled two M14 Chandras. Like seriously, I've never pulled a Planeswalker in the whole time I've played. Was a good day though, I ran a little painting workshop for some people getting into painting models next to the mtg players.

That's really awful actually, why would you prevent people from playing a game they enjoy just because they've been playing it for a while? What if their first event ever was an FNM that they had to get a DCI number at the night before and now they're not allowed to play? Not to mention that that's actually against Wizards Terms of Service for store owners and could get them ejected from the Wizards Play Network if anyone reports them.
I see where your LGS is coming from but I'm surprised they would do something like that if they knew the possible consequences.
Also I take back my hate for the black god now that his whip is out, seems really useful together, and can actually help my midrange deck by a lot
The full Theros set has been revealed. Looks to be a pretty fun set.
I'm loving white so far.
I'm going for a red and white deck with nearly every card being small and heroic.
Throw in a million Overload cards and cheap enchantments; I've got a quick army.
The other deck i'm going for is a green white and blue azorious quick denial and late game selesnya tokens.
I'm fairly new to magic (just started a few weeks ago) and was thinking of building a deck for legacy. Would buying From The Vault 20 and building around those cards be a good place to start? My comic book store is selling it for $175.
$175 is a big investment to make for a game that you just got into a few weeks ago. You may want to try cheaper events for a while to see if you still enjoy the game after some time.

Honestly? No.
Get an intro deck for the block in the colour(s) you're most interested in, it comes with a full 60 card deck and 2 booster packs for a total of 90 cards. It's a great place to start, and more cards can be collected via boosters (expensive and incredibly addictive) and buying singles online (much cheaper and you can get what you want instead of probably total crap.)
[editline]15th September 2013[/editline]
Oh, I didn't see it was for legacy. In that case, just buying singles is probably your best bet.

The whole event was for new players, we just wanted people who either were new, or didn't have a DCI yet, we didn't want some of our douchier powergamers going into it, and ruining the day for the new players. We wanted some of the new people to come back, the sure way to drive them away, was letting some of our regulars play. We also had considerations for players who had only used their DCI a couple of times, but everyone got to do something, we had an equal regular to new player balance, so we formed teams to help the new players learn, so except for one absolute dick we turned away because we hate him and got rid of him on other grounds, everyone in the group contributed. That and Wizards support of the event wasn't too great here, we didn't get enough packs to support everyone, we barely had enough for the new players, even if we let everyone in, we'd have to have started turning them away.
So am I the only one that has already spent way too many money in preordering cards? I feel like I do this everytime a new set comes out to be sure that I have to the cards I need for my new decks...
I need some pauper deck suggestions.
My friends just started playing pauper and I want to build a deck, and have come across a few good ones, but I put a lot of importance on theme. I want something awesome like dragons, or eldrazi, or other such things. Problem is, there is no dragon-themed pauper, and eldrazi pauper are usually piss poor.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Using putrid imp and exhume you could trick an eldrazi in on turn 2.
You could easily build around that to make a solid deck.
Bulk the combo with Rotting Rats and shred memory to find exhumes and you're looking even better.
Need some ideas for Commander decks I'm building for these commanders
Karador, Ghost Chieftain
Doran the Seige Tower
Higure, the Still Wind
Thanks!
Edited:
I have difficulties building a Zur the Enchanter EDH. I can find the enchantments I like, but I just can't seem to find creatures to fit in the deck.
And how do you update your Cockatrice card database? Or does is do it automatically for you?
I'm up to play some Cocatrice games, who wants to? Could be cool to make a Sealed deck on TappedOut and play it.
I'll be up for that sometime.
Same here
Where's the best mirror for Cockatrice downloads, seeing as the main site's down?
