IMO Xenagos is so much better, he just curves out so nicely on turn three in R/G Aggro, or Turn four after Domri if you want it to be that away, gives you free mana and can protect himself with Satyrs.
That's basically just because he is Jund/Gruul colors so he has much stronger cards to work with. Ashiok by herself would be better imo if she had other useful cards to play with
Here is some hope for Born of Gods to see some U/B love then.
Hopefully, she seems like such a good card in this set it would be a shame for her not to be played. Like Phyrexian Oblitorators being printed alongside dismember. Such a sad time
After actually seeing Ashiok in action in this Grixis Superfriends deck, I am looking forward to playing around with her. She's incredibly useful vs decks filled with creatures.

Such a sad time
She's only fit in a deck that can have a good amount of control, and even then, her main gimmick takes off loyalty so you'd only get off 1 creature if you're lucky. Still, not bad for a 3 drop.

For 3 mana she seems like she can do a lot, and if they want to try and kill her she not only can get their creatures to help defend her but she can also +2 herself which makes her a lot harder to deal with. Not even close to as strong as Liliana of the veil was as a three drop, and not the best planeswalker in standard now, but still I think she is quite good by herself. But yeah the double Jund planeswalkers is way scarier as it is
I'm trying to make a Red Deck Wins deck, but a playset of Boros Reckoner and a playset of Ash Zealot is so expensive. Are there any good alternatives that would work in RDW?
I'm trying to make a Red Deck Wins deck, but a playset of Boros Reckoner and a playset of Ash Zealot is so expensive. Are there any good alternatives that would work in RDW?
Standard right? Cut the loyalist for a rakdos cackler and the ash zelot for whatever you can find and try this. About as budget as you can get, but unfortuantly "red deck wins" is more "red deck does so-so" right now. Placed 5th at a 31 player tourney, so must be doing something right.
4x Akroan Crusader 4x Ash Zealot 4x Foundry Street Denizen 4x Legion Loyalist 4x Rakdos Shred-Freak 4x Dragon Mantle 4x Madcap Skills 4x Ordeal of Purphoros 4x Titan's Strength 4x Weapon Surge 20x Mountain
If you want to go pure player burn, it gets expensive (magma jets are on the up and up) and generally doesn't do too well without some fuel like burning shrine (Non standard) However another strat is to go for young pyromancer + guttersnipes + Molten Birth. Use your early burn like magma jets/Lightning Strike on threats and create tokens. Then overload Weapon Surge/Dynacharge to finish.
RDW decks are a lot of fun. I love them, even when it hits the point of no return in the game where they get their midgame creatures out and you have to really try to play an uphill game

I can't really find too many ridiculous combo decks in standard right now though. I was thinking of making a Master Biomancer/Corpsejack Menace/Vorel of the hull Clade/ Kalonian Hydra ridiculous counters deck but those hydras are so damn expensive.
I think I've got some fun combinations of cards. Tends to be hardy enough with my group of friends, and has some fun confusing rule nuances to enjoy in some of them. Well, at least one of them, I haven't tried them in some time. Because the whip can resurrect a merchant on the other persons turn, then you use the Rescue from the Underworld on the resurrected merchant to bring back another merchant, and the whipped one also comes back permanently because Rescue from the Underworld doesn't specify which zone it would be returned from.

I have seen people use it with obzedat to make it basically immune to non-exile removal. Works with Aetherling as well, and can kind of work with Giant adephage.
Anyone know a good singles site that ships to the uk? The uk based ones tend to be overpriced.
Pretty good haul on Friday. Did a draft, first pack had Elspeth, so I obviously forced white as much as possible. Got first place, prize packs contained Thoughtseize and Ashiok. There goes my luck for the next two years.

At my local store, everyone chucks their rares and mythic rares into a pile and people take turns picking what they want starting from first place. No prize packs

At my local store, everyone chucks their rares and mythic rares into a pile and people take turns picking what they want starting from first place. No prize packs
That's called "rare redrafting" and it's generally looked down upon as when you pay for entry at a draft (usually) you're paying for three packs + entry (this is supported by Wizards, as long as it's a sanctioned event, you can pay for a draft and walk out with your packs without facing repercussions) so what you get is supposed to be yours. Most LGS do prize support for drafts (including mine). Speaking of my LGS, went undefeated (7-0) at Game Day today after a 3-3-0 scrubout drop at GP Louisville yesterday. I'm 2 for 2 on Game Days this year (M14 and then Theros), hopefully I can keep it up.
Just got done my first ever draft. Finished 1:2 and ran a white/blue control. I was gonna splash green but I never really needed it. Honestly I would've gone 2:1 but the last match ended on a draw and considering I was down one game in the match it defaulted to a loss. I was swinging 10/10 flying, life like, vigilance each turn and my opponent was kinda bad so I would've taken that game and probably the next. w/e. I didn't expect to go positive in my first draft and I had a good time anyway. Anyway I think the rarest card I got was Daxos. Not worth much but a crazy fucking card.
my deck build was
1x Heliod's Emissary 1x Stymied Hopes 1x Daxos of Meletis 1x Triton Tactics 1x Observant Alseid 2x Nimbus Naiad 1x Gods Willing 1x Ordeal of Thassa 1x Phalanx Leader 1x Sea God's Revenge 1x Wavecrash Triton 2x Hopeful Eidolon 1x Fate Foretold 1x Dissolve 1x Favored Hoplite 1x Divine Verdict 1x Ray of Dissolution 1x Griptide 1x Annul 1x Voyage's End 1x Aqueous Form
in case anyone was curious

And for sure it is the worst feeling ever being beaten by someone who you know is pretty bad at the game, so I feel for you with that.

You need some more boardwipes; with blue and red you should have a good few to choose from. Blasphemous Act, Evacuation, Cyclonic Rift, Cryptic Command, Shatterstorm, etc. Oh, and here's a good list of edh power cards. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/list-of-edh-staples-and-power-cards
So I just managed to win a complete set of Commander 2013 and the cards should arrive tomorrow, it kind of sucks though since I don't actually have anybody to play with but maybe that can change. Any thoughts on what I should do with the cards? Try to get people to play, sell them or just wait for them to go up in price/hoard them?
I'd sell them because iirc they can sell for like $50 each or more
I checked the price over on MM and they sell for £165 together or £185 individually which certainly isn't too bad, I'll see when they arrive I suppose. Well, seems like nobody has anything to say. How bout a challenge? (Partially ripped off a MTG Salvation Thread) Guild Wars EDH Requirements: -Pick a Guild Leader/Champion/Maze Runner to be your Commander -Must include Signet, Cluestone, Guildgate, and Keyrune of your Guild -At least 20 cards in your deck must have the Guild watermark Start building and post your deckbuilds!
Sooo I just had a game with two of my friends (FFA). I pretty much quit buying new cards and I'm pretty damn behind, with them having all the shiny new cards from the new sets. But I ended up with this. [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img689/2500/wicy.jpg[/t] I was actually doing nothing at this point, and trying to let them to do something, even though I could wipe them out over two rounds. I had around 140 hp. Feels good to be back, my little angels! [sp]note the cards on the very right[/sp]
