So, at Friday Night Magic last night, some guy was going through like four boxes he had just bought, and was sorting out all the cards he already playsets of, and all the tokens and lands, asked if I could look through it and offer a trade or two, he just gave me all of them. So, me and my friends have been working on making the switch over to EDH after the Commander 2013 decks came out. I recently finished my first deck, which is built around Sydri, and have playtested a few matches. It seems fairly decent, and is very fun (The amount of possible synergies is insane), but I'm hoping to bring it to a Commander tourney at my LGS, and feel like there's definite improvements to be made. I'm mainly looking for help on solidifying the manabase, but any critique is appreciated. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sydri-galvanic-genius-edh-25-11-13-1/
i used to have a really good 60-card extort deck http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/awful-extort-thing/ i don't know what happened to the poor thing
found a japanese greel in one of my common boxes and that's gonna be my next edh deck after i finish norin
is buying cards from amazon a good idea? i see that they have those big boxes full of cards for a pretty decent price
is buying cards from amazon a good idea? i see that they have those big boxes full of cards for a pretty decent price
Any unsealed boxes are probably picked clean of all the value cards, leaving all the trash behind and all the sealed boxes may be mapped (not entirely sure about this, just something I've heard) so you miss the value cards too. Don't know specifically for Amazon though.
bump
bump
Please don't uselessly bump threads without content. So as to take my own advice: It's a shame that MTGO has been so shitty lately and they're nerfing it so hard, it was my favorite way to playtest against players who are actually decent without having to search out a playgroup of people who actually want to play competitively that isn't a complete circlejerk.
I wish this thread got more traffic :/ anyway I've been slowly getting back into Magic after a couple of months, since a lot of my friends don't play that much. I've created an Orzhov EDH deck and it's been going quite nicely, however this one guy who pooled hundreds of dollars into this game in about a month always beats me (go figure). If only more people at my school played more, it'd be more fun. There's the guys at the mall/LGS that play too but they're more experience and (obviously) competitive.
What work well with Oona in EDH? I've constructed a mill - faerie tribal with mana combo undertones to spam Oona's ability with a couple of sac outlets. Any ideas?
I assume you're running the Grand Architect + Basalt Monolith/Pili-Pala combo for infinite mana to win with Oona? If not that's a staple of the deck that you should try to get.
I know this has been asked before, but wouldn't it be fun if we had an FP MtG tournament on cockatrice or something?
The only problem is, what format would we play? Standard? Commander? Vintage?
Standard is the most fun imo
I'd be down for a standard tourney on cockatrice.
Gotta love pack 1 Brimaz and pack 2 Hero's D in drafts. Such good value
Do you guys usually run Sygg, River Guide EDH as Voltron or just plain Merfolk Tribal? Any card suggestions, by the way?
I really love EDH, but I can't get into it anymore because it's still very prohibitively expensive to even stand a chance in a semi-casual setting.
Wizards... why... 100 life...?
2 +1's are good, you dont even need to use -8 at all :v: I guess it could work for lifegain decks though [editline]22nd April 2014[/editline]
I really love EDH, but I can't get into it anymore because it's still very prohibitively expensive to even stand a chance in a semi-casual setting.
magic online edh is much less expensive, thankfully (99% of cards are at least half the price as normal magic, especially if you go cutthroat [gaea's cradle for example, a staple in cutthroat green, is around 175$ in paper magic, and 65$ in magic online, or around 20$ if you can get the promo version]) but I'm forced to use forge/cockatrice until I can get a job to support it, and until magic online gets better support
Im currently working on a samurai tribal EDH, wich cards are typical tribal cards? i have coat of arms, door of destiny, kondas banner and adaptive automaton. have i missed any good ones?
Im currently working on a samurai tribal EDH, wich cards are typical tribal cards? i have coat of arms, door of destiny, kondas banner and adaptive automaton. have i missed any good ones?
Cavern of Souls
Probably late but from what I got out of prerelease Journey is probably my favorite set of the block. Maybe it's because I played so much of theros which was my favorite for a while but Nyx I think was a great finisher.
I wish that theyd keep the star pattern/enchantment creatures but I know its not gonna be a thing still sucks, I love enchantments
New Ajani + Sage of Hours + Vorel = infinite turns. Now you can do shitty combos in Standard by running 3 mediocre cards! Also Journey makes drafting a lot more fun, the set feels a lot more fleshed out now.
I saw somebody use master biomancer with 3 +1/+1 counters on it + sage of hours and progenitor mimic to instant win. Did not see that coming.
What do you guys think of Godsend? And I can also see the huge potential in the MtG Midas for EDH

I can see this card as a 1 of in a white weenie deck for standard since it can be very powerful in certain situations

Anyone got ideas for additions to this deck? http://deckbox.org/sets/670430 It's a Budget deck, so it can't go over $20~ value (excl. basic lands) [editline]2nd May 2014[/editline] Theme is -1/-1 counters, but EoT -1/-1 is cool too.
