man, the new 2-block format will be hard to get used to
Comments on this deck? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/12-03-15-bw-soul-sisters/ I still have A LOT of cards to acquire but my LGS doesn't have it or I can't pay for it. I simply can't afford more serra ascendants or ranger of eos's. I also can't afford Path to Exile, but I will try my best to acquire it. What do you guys think? MY next acquisition is probably Hero of Bladehold to replace Sorin.

Possibly even the WB gain-one-life land from KTK/FRF, I can't remember what it's called. Also, maybe instead of lingering souls you get a little bit more removal, you seem to have enough creatures to benefit from the Soul's Attendant already.
can we all just take a moment to look at this art
What clan are you guys playing in the DTK prerelease? I chose Dromoka because I love buffing creatures. The pretty spindown die is a bonus.

Oh hey we have a thread for this. Cool. Some of the guys from work have been getting me into Magic. I've gotten to the level of making my own decks (digital, since I'm a cheap bastard), and some of them are a bit unconventional due to our limited metagame environment. I'll probably be running deck ideas by you all later to see if I'm doing something stupid.
haven't played much magic recently (mainly due to my local scene being terrible) but i won't lie and say i don't miss it. i had a dream last night where return to innistrad came out. god i loved that set. [editline]23rd March 2015[/editline] does anyone wanna play some online Commander at some point via OCTGN or whatever people use nowadays? I have a few physical decks i haven't gotten to play in a while but i'd love to play some of them again
Does anyone know any people who have extras of the Magic 2015 shit from the recent humble bundle? I missed out and wanted to buy it from someone
I use cockatrice but honestly it's too clunky for me, especially in commander it's just too hard.
Xmage is great at managing rules, only problems is that some of the servers aren't the most stable, and occasionally after new sets, updates tend to crash, but I don't mind it much. I've actually had less problems with it than I did during my (short lived) attempt at getting into MTGO properly :v:
Well, I seem to be getting the hang of this. For practice, I've been building monocolor modern decks, one of each color. Most of them haven't worked too well, though. The last one, green, I made this morning. Simple mana ramp and heavy creatures, not really any gimmick to it. First actual match with it: Turn 1: Forest, bird of paradise Turn 2: Forest, whisperer of the wild, elvish mystic Turn 3: Forest, Khalni Hydra (8/8 trample) Turn 4: Forest, Terra Stomper (another 8/8 trample), another bird, swing for 8 (blocked) Turn 5: Skarrg Goliath (9/9 trample), swing for 16 (1 blocked, other trampled through a 1/1 for 7) Turn 6: another Hydra, titanic growth, swing for 29 Turn 7: there was no turn 7 I think that worked out pretty well. Now to go back and fix my previous decks, then maybe build some two-colors for more practice.
Always a magical moment when some cards that you ordered come in. I've been trying to decide if Coiling Oracle is better than Explore or not. I like Coiling Oracle more because he is a creature and revealing a Favor of the Overbeing with him makes an excellent turn 3 attacker. On the other hand, Explore is easier to cast on turn two, doesn't require you to reveal a card to your opponent, and buffs my Lorescale Coatl.
I've been tinkering with this deck for a long time and I finally think I found something I like. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/05-04-15-casual-ug-aggro-control/ Looking for criticism at this point and also potential replacements for Cold-Eyed Selkie.
If price isn't too big of an issue, you may want to consider fixing your mana base a bit better. More shocks + some fetches and less basics. You may also want to consider Courser of Kruphix, it synergizes with Coiling Oracle nicely. Secondly, your removal only applies to creatures, so you might want to put a couple more generic removals for artifacts, enchantments, etc. As for your concern with Selkie, I think you have plenty of protection for it from Lightning Strikes and such, what with your Simic Charms, Plaxmantas, etc. Keep in mind that the Vapor Snags, while good against opponents, will also help your Selkie out considerably in saving it at the cost of only one life. Final note, Sylvan Caryatid is good at mana fixing and defending against early beaters in aggro decks, just in case you play that one round where you have a blue hand and only forests :v: If anything I said doesn't really seem like it'll work against the people you play, go ahead and disregard it. It's more important to build the deck specifically against the people/decks you plan on playing with anyway.

I'm going to remove the temples and slowly replace them with breeding pools to avoid spending large amounts of money on this at once. I will also look for more Hinterland Harbors. As far as dealing with noncreature permanents goes, I have access to some Trygon Predators that I can find slots for. Courser is a little expensive for me and I only have one that I am using in another deck. Sylvan Caryatid is an interesting thought, I will have to think about that.
I'd still probably keep around at least 2 temples. The scrying can really come in handy, and you don't have anything that's very heavy in mana cost, so the coming into play tapped isn't a huge deal. Trygon Predators is an interesting choice. On one hand, it's a 2/3 flying for 3, which is pretty solid, but his ability isn't that great because it has to deal combat damage to take effect. Therefore, it's restricted to being a once-per-turn and only in combat type effect, which at that point might be too late. As well as that, if you don't play any mana ramp, it's at best a turn 4 enchantment and artifact remover, which is not very good. If your opponent doesn't have a lot of their own removal spells, then I'd say go for it simply because you would have another body to fight with. If they do, howevery, you can replace it with Naturalize for the same effect at 1 less mana cost with no delay and no combat required, or Return to the Earth to also take care of any pesky fliers they control, should it be needed.

They're just gonna slow me down unless it's turn one and I don't have a preordain or if I've already reached critical mass of mana (5-6). I see what you're saying with Trygon Predator, but the decks my friends play don't really have any artifacts or enchantments that I need to worry about before Trygon Predator can take effect. The exception is a UW aura deck my friend has that runs Ethereal Armor, Aqueous Form, Sunbond, Hopeful Eidolon, etc. but even against that, the fact that Trygon Predator's ability can trigger every turn puts it above Naturalize in my opinion, especially since his deck runs Negate as his counterspell of choice. He also has no protection against flying :v: worst he can do is Azorius Charm it to the top.

If I ever get my hands on fetchlands I might start using Brainstorm again and that would really push me to put Lorescale back in. Even without enablers, he sneaks up on people. After facing him once, everybody I've played with removes him on sight.
Unpacked this. Sold it for just under $20. Covered my cost for draft night which is sick.
If only mill decks weren't so expensive.
If only mill decks weren't so expensive.
What format are you making one for?
What format are you making one for?
I just recently started playing, so i only have a blu/red from ca. 2006, the 2015 starter toolkit and a stack of DoT Cards i was given at my first fnm. The nearest fnm venue switches between modern and standard every other week, so i'll probably just go with any viable cards i han get. Also, fuck writing on phone.
If only mill decks weren't so expensive.
Hedron crab, evolving wilds, harrow There you go you're already halfway through your enemies deck by turn 4.
consuming abbreiation is better plus multiple of of consuming abbrieation means non stop milling
Hedron crab, evolving wilds, harrow There you go you're already halfway through your enemies deck by turn 4.
I was certain that hedron was $20 or some shit. luckily i'm wrong. seems like jace's phantasm is affordale too. i should take a look at getting some singles so i can give it a try. i'm currently loving this deck in virtual playtable, even though i'm often 6 cards short from victory. Milling is so fun!
consuming abbreiation is better plus multiple of of consuming abbrieation means non stop milling
He costs 5, not better, just different. 'sides, hedron crab + harrow helps ramp you and color fix you into being able to cast consuming aberration.
The danish site for single purchases doesn't agree on the prices i find, ho boy. almost the price of one booster per card :suicide:
