I have a whole bunch of magic cards I'd love to get rid of including a binder full of rares and shit. Anyone recommend a site where to do it? I tried magic madhouse or whatever it's called and their offer was ridiculously low :D
Send me all your mill-friendly cards :^) i'll pay for the delivery.
Have you considered making a combo-mill deck instead of pure mill? For example, using the Mindcrank+Duskmantle Guildmage combo you can mill the entire enemy library and they lose 1 life for each card milled. This allows you to fill the rest of the deck with cards that actually affect the board instead of simply milling the enemy which rarely does anything. Of course, a combo is also easier to disrupt will well aimed counterspells and such. EDIT: Also check out Mesmeric Orb, it's one of the best mill cards imo.
Ho boy that combo sounds awesome. Isn't that a certain win if you manage to have both cards active and deal damage? Since I'm fairly new, I think I'll just have to experiment with blue cards and add in mill elements as i get the cards. Milling is good even if it's not your win requirement, since it can prevent enemy combos n shit. I dunno. I should probably go look through my cards, and see what I have to work with.

Many decks can utilize their graveyards so you're doing them a favor by filling it. And even though you can mill their combopieces and other nasty things, it's just as likely to get them closer to them by removing dead draws from their topdeck. If you're playing casually, it can work but in a more competetive environment mill tends to be a very bad strategy. For example, modern has cards like Emrakul that completely disable any milling strategies only by being in the deck. EDIT: For casual play, Commander might be a good format to try out. It lets you use all your giant flashy cards and weird strategies that would be too slow for other formats.
Going all in on buying singles for a netdeck is a bit too pricey for me, and I still need to find my place in the magic universe. I just ordered the Jace versus Vraskas deck, so I can be independent while still utilising some mill. I hope it arrives before the next fnm.

They're not standard decks, meaning you they have cards that have already rotated out, or you're going to get stomped in modern. I suggest you read up on different formats before heading out to FNM. For a starting player, something like draft is good since you don't actually have to have a deck and you can build up your collection while getting experience.
It sucks that drafts are on mondays where I am, and I don't want to risk fucking up school. I do have a standard deck, though. I just want to have a silly deck for friendly matches. Next friday is modern and I might as well test the waters, since I've only attended standard.

Gonna attend my first draft tonight. Anyone got any tips?
Gonna attend my first draft tonight. Unless you have the fixing for it, don't go for three colors unless it's specifically just for one spell or whatever. Winning in draft really just depends on how lucky you get with the cards you unpack. A good thing to check out is the Pro Tour Draft: Paying attention to what the pro's pick should give you an idea on what commons to pick. It really helped me become a better drafter.
