Well I finally decided to jump straight into Survivor mode. I'm probably going to regret this.
It has been a long time since I genuinely felt that I got my money's worth out of a game. I just beat TLOU, and can say without a doubt it was worth every penny. Amazing. Start to finish, absolutely amazing.
Received the game in the mail today. I pop it in and see it show up under the games tab but first decide to update my PS3 since it's been a while and always asks anyway. So a few minutes later and it's all update, great! Let's play! Disc isn't being read at all, just spinning noises... all my other games are working fine. Anybody know what's up? Is it just me?
well watched my friend finish the game i'm pissed [sp]oh yeah shes the only one of her kind but oh gee fuckin well i need to take her[/sp]
well watched my friend finish the game i'm pissed [sp]oh yeah shes the only one of her kind but oh gee fuckin well i need to take her[/sp]
[sp]If you would've explored more you'd find she wasn't the only one of her "kind" and that that they tested on more immune people and it didn't work. It would never create a cure, just a vaccine they could give to their own people (the fireflies). The world is already 60% or more dead. Noticed how Marlene (or whatever its spelled) begger for her life at the end? She never cared about Ellie dying or not seeing as she has no issues with surviving herself while Ellie and the small chance for a vaccine is driving off, she earlier said that its not about her or joel but "mankind". It's bullshit, she never cared. [/sp]
well watched my friend finish the game i'm pissed [sp]oh yeah shes the only one of her kind but oh gee fuckin well i need to take her[/sp]
So you mean to tell me if you were in Joel's shoes, having gone through the same experiences he has, you wouldn't have done the same? [sp] And before you say you wouldn't because of the vaccine, consider this: It was only a chance that they could create the vaccine. And even if they did, would it really fix the world? The Firefiles are pretty much assholes ( I mean for fucks sake they knocked out Joel while he was giving CPR to Ellie, those the kind of people you want to trust with the potential gift for mankind?), you honestly think they wouldn't use it selfishly? Not to mention a vaccine for the disease can't cure the state humanity is in now. There's still the military (who are also assholes), the cannibals, the bandits, etc. How would they spread the vaccine? And if they found a way to announce it to the world you think everyone would stop fighting, line up for vaccination while holding hands and singing kumbaya? More likely people would be killing each other for it. [/sp] My two cents.

[sp]It was pretty obvious Marlene cared about Ellie, because she was feeling pretty awful about the decision she made, and felt like shit after making it, even though she believed it was the right thing to do. Also, I double checked that last level and found absolutely nothing relating to other immune people. Where did you find that? Because as far as I can tell, that was just a lie Joel created so that he didn't have to tell Ellie that he killed the Fireflies and destroyed the possibility of a vaccine.[/sp]
Loved this game, I'm amazed what the ps3 can do still, tempted to pre order beyond souls now. Multiplayer is hit and miss, or well survivor mode, people playing it like uncharted :/

Ready to kill the little girl, but not ready to die herself. Bitch." [/sp]
[sp]I thought the ending was great. I know I wouldn't let someone who was like my daughter and the only thing I cared about in a fucked up world get killed, then Joel would go back to doing nothing. And after all, the vaccine probably wouldn't work, just like it hadn't before. I just hope there's a sequel, this game was amazing.[/sp]
Also, anyone have the Ellie or Joel edition of the game and is willing to sell it? (In Europe) I don't care about DLC or the game itself I'm just interested in the collectors edition content. It's sold out here everywhere and only one for sale on a bidding site (which I probably will lose since it's unopened and people will probably go super high price for it)
After finishing the game a while ago I've been watching other people's let's plays to see their reactions of it. Its really making an impression on people, even the ones who mostly play COD. Even PewDiePie started to cry at the end.
q
ok normally i'd put an ounce of more tact into this (not really) after reading that i'm 100% sure of this - but you being bad at the game has nothing to do with it being bad game also you have a serious case of whiny brat exaggeration. p.s. stealth is viable but difficult you're just awful
Survivor difficulty confirmed for terrible idea. Guess I should just move on back to Hard mode or something.

Sometimes The Last of Us bugs out in the most immersion breakingly hilarious ways. It happened last time I did the prologue. I'm in the car and the people are rushing through the streets, and Tommy yells "I can't fucking drive through them, Joel!". He then proceeds to drive through one of them.
New patch out. http://www.naughtydog.com/site/post/the_last_of_us_patch_102/ I'm guessing that texture is the phone sex one.

But she never jumps :v:
Ok, so i managed to get my dad to play some of it, he seems to have enjoyed it so far, he's at the beginning, looking for robert.
throughout the game i always thought that in the end [sp]joel was going to get infected and then ellie was going to have to shoot him[/sp] like a certain other game [sp]or that ellie was a carrier and was infecting people through contact[/sp] i'm kind of glad it didnt happen lol and had a happy ending
hahaha i'll admit, i ended up buying a ps3 just to play this game and i'm so glad i did. i got the uncharted bundle so i've been jamming those too. i swear naughty dog and guerrilla games are the sole reason to get a playstation. their exclusives are absolutely stunning and are well worth the money [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] it's too bad i feel like i'll never get around to beating it. it just feels so monotonous gameplay wise, much like tomb raider. the story is the only reason to keep on driving through the game but agghh, the gameplay is so sore for me. i hate it.
It's just a shame I can't experience a new playthrough again, it just wont be the same... but atleast the multiplayer is a blast, I'm hooked on it. Just sort of sucks sometimes when you get a team who doesn't know what they're doing and they run off by themselves.
It'll be awhile before I can afford to buy this, so I try to tide myself over by visiting this thread. All the blacked out text is so hard to resist clicking, like it's almost a habit, so I have to resist my very instinct. I mean I think I already spoiled more than enough for myself by watching the intro. And some of the possible death animations, not really story spoilers, but I imagine it's more shocking having them happen to you on your playthrough for the first time.
(Major Game spoilers?) [sp]Yo if anything, Ellie being immune 6 years after this thing happened is another sign of the world fixing itself without human intervention. Letting her die to save others is so dumb and selfish in in of itself... She could be the mother of a new generation of immune human beings.[/sp]

I think it was the scene where Joel comforts Ellie after she kills David... it seemed like everything just "fit" at that particular moment. The relationship between Joel and Ellie had been gradually getting better the entire game, and then with the impalement it spiked... and when Joel dropped the line "baby girl" it all came together. After seeing that... if things had just ended at Ellie going into surgery the entire game would have been a flop for me. Now that I know Joel didn't really lie at all I feel great about the ending.[/sp] I'm also really glad they didn't [sp]pull a Joel gets bit / dies ending.[/sp]

Got U3 free through PS+, and its a really damn nice looking game and I'm enjoying the characters, but I can't get over just how much of a slog the actual game is, and its really damn frustrating in some parts too. It's too much "fluffy" action game and not enough meat in its game and level design for me to want to really invest in the serious chunk of time the game demands of you. Fun here and there but I'm already in a "allright, I've had my fill of this style of gameplay" mode well before the story is over. Which kinda sucks because I do want to keep playing for the plot/characters, as completely ridiculous and nonsensical a lot of the plot events are.
