How the fuck did they get across the entire US in barely a year?

Well, unless you walk, it doesn't take that long to cross a whole country. They probably just used whatever mean of transportation they could find. I mean they had a horse a good portion of the game, so that might explain it.

It took them an entire season to do so, its only about 2400 miles, which you can do in at least 2 months if you average 40 miles a day.
I just finished the game, [sp]and holy shit. Didn't expect any of that ending what so ever.
Completely torn over what to think, but you can see Ellie would probably have chosen to sacrifice herself if it meant a cure for the whole of humankind. I thought it was an awesome character development for Joel and you can always tell he is secretly a bit of an asshole because of the way Sarah's death took it's toll on him, but I thought he would still have been a decent person in the end. This way he is most definitely portrayed as the bad guy in the situation and directly responsible for the rest of the continuing deaths and infections of the rest of the human race purely because of his own selfishness. This kinda upsets me, but only a minor niggle because the story didn't pan out as a happy ending the way I'd hoped it would and I know now that their whole relationship from now on will be based on a lie. But then again, The Last of Us is hardly a game about happy endings so I'm not surprised that turned out to be the case and it was still fucking amazing, loved it from start to finish.[/sp]
[sp]Well, as somebody already said: How the hell did the Fireflies think the whole cure thing would even work? Even if there was one, I doubt they could even properly mass produce it and I also doubt they would just be the heroes they think they are, giving them to the people for free.
All that Joel really did was make the world partly a better place, because they are fucking assholes anyway ("Shoot him if he does not approve of our decision to kill this little girl without even asking her!") who are trying to shove their ideologies down everbodies throat, causing conflicts across the country because of their stupid ideas which are basically just wishfull thinking.
Tommy's town shows us that humanity is able to overcome this crisis, or atleast live with it. And Joel knew that, too. Fuck the Fireflies, they are the selfish ones.[/sp]
Does anybody else here think they'll make a sequel that's unrelated to Joel and Ellie's story for the PS4? It'd be pretty awesome to have a TLOU game set in the west, in it's deserts and countrysides. Imagine going through the grand canyon.
Either that or one set in the south east, like Louisiana and Florida.
I don't think there'll be a sequel.
The game focuses around the relationship between Joel and Ellie, which was what those people at Naughty Dog intended. They couldn't just drop two other characters into the same world and having it be about the same thing. The story has finished, they said that clearly.
I think it's good that way, although I trust ND by heart, I don't think they could reach the level of TLOU again using the same basic setting and stuff.

Damn, I think I post too much in this thread, don't I?

Not all games need a sequel. The Last of Us was close to perfection as it was.

I agree but they'll most likely make one because of how much money the original is making.
As I said, it would be unrelated to Joel and Ellie's story. It'd follow a different character with a different goal.

Or they can make another awesome new title rather than making a possibly mediocore at best spin off.
If I showed somebody who had never seen The Last of Us and I told him that it was on PS4, odds are, he'd believe me

That might be pushing it a bit. The game is beautiful, but it's clearly running at 720p (jaggies everywhere) and some of the textures are a bit muddy.
I think Naughty Dog is truly going to blow us away when they reveal Uncharted 4 or something along those lines; if there's one thing they've consistently proven (beyond being excellent developers), it's that they are absolute wizards with the technology they're given, and that's been apparent since Crash Bandicoot.
What faction did ya'll select for multiplayer?
I went into it before the story and selected the Fireflies after finishing the story, I still don't regret it compared to the other option.
Hunters all the way, fuck the Fireflies.
Also, I prefer blue
Hunters all the way, fuck the Fireflies.

Hunters are worse than the Fireflies...
Murder people just to take their supplies.
Hunters are worse than the Fireflies...

Hunters are survivors
Hunters are survivors
And psychotic murderers and one of their leaders a possible [sp]rapist/pedo.[/sp]
Hunters are worse than the Fireflies...
Murder people just to take their supplies.
At first I was conflicted about how I felt regarding the Hunters due to overhearing some of their conversations like the one about having a hope for setting up a screen to watch old movies on and just in general some of the light hearted conversations they had but then one scene made my incision completely turn. It was the scene where [sp]the Hunters gunned down two innocent people, initially killing one and wounding another, then executing the other only to find out none of them had anything worth taking.[/sp] It just clicked for me at that scene.
Granted, the Fireflies aren't much better, willing to [sp]sacrifice a child in hopes or finding a good cure and I think starting riots (I say I think because I can't remember if they were the ones who attacked first or if the military provoked them to begin with.[/sp] Either way, at least they have a hope for a cure and don't go around shooting people because they "might" have supplies.
Still don't really regret selecting the fireflies, survival of the fittest is bullcrap anyways.
But Fireflies don't exactly want to "improve the world", they just want to control everything. I chose hunters, they just want to survive, yo.
But Fireflies don't exactly want to "improve the world", they just want to control everything. I chose hunters, they just want to survive, yo.
They believe in structure, yes.
As for improving the world, I can't say.
Just better than the hunters "hey he might have some food on him, KILL HIM"
Yeah, fair enough. I just preferred the description of the hunters over fireflies, cause I had only played about 15% in the story before trying multiplayer.
Hunters are actually killing to survive. It's what they do, regardless of killing innocents. But they stick to theor turfs. They don't go out raiding or anything, they stay in territories as far as I know.
[sp]Fireflies do jack shit for humanity, they are fanatically chasing a dream, causing chaos in an already broken, but rebuilding world and just give two shits about their own fucking goal, trying to pull everyone into their little crusade to die for an illusion called hope. Which actually already exists. Fireflies are fucking worse in the end.[/sp]

That would've been really rad considering I live in Chicago.

[sp]The hunters in Pittsburg aren't related to David's group. All the survivor groups you come acros are independant. I like to think they guys you play as in multiplayer are closer to Tommy's group, seeing as you can gather over 100 people.[/sp]
I picked fireflies because I wasn't paying attention to the choice, so now my team is yellow and that makes me sad.
[sp]I like to think they guys you play as in multiplayer are closer to Tommy's group, seeing as you can gather over 100 people.[/sp]
huh
I never thought of it that way.. next time I pass 12 weeks/my camp gets killed off, I'll go with Hunters to see how it feels.
It's all about the experience
Also uhh, did anyone else have an issue with missing weapons on the campaign?
I got the shorty, died, reloaded the section and it wasn't on the table to take again and it's not in my inventory.
:(

Everybody's an asshole. The end.
[editline]8th July 2013[/editline]
Except for maybe [sp]Tommy and his group.[/sp]
I chose the Hunters first because I always thought the survival of the fittest was a good idea. Sure Its a dick move, but hey anyway to survive right. But you guys do know you can switch sides after the 12 weeks are up right? You keep everything but you size of the group resets and the missions go back to tier one.
Both sides are bad. The hunters are evil for obvious reasons, and you think [sp]the Fireflies are okay but then it you find out their true motives and ideals.[/sp]
It really hits that central theme that the world is a dick, nobody's good, everything sucks.
Anyone from Oceania, SEA or the West coast US want to play multiplayer anytime soon? Add me: mjrlzr

same not enough games have chicago as a setting imo
Doing my Survivor difficulty playthrough, I'm only finding sugar
