Take your time exploring, don't run around areas trying to get to the next segment. That's what I did, and it was really enjoyable. You can get through the game fine by just rushing through, but letting everything you learn about this world sink in by taking your time and do proper, careful exploring is, IMO, way more rewarding. For me, the game had a perfect length, which was around 20-30 hours on hard.
I didnt rush through I explored everywhere read all the notes I found
I just thought hard was a bit too easy because I barely died, It sucks how you had to unlock survival mode
Goddamn this game is longer than I expected but it's great so far.
I'm currently in [sp]the sewers where you fight stalkers for the first time[/sp] Can someone tell me if I'm anywhere near the end?

Not really, no. You've finished about half the chapters.
So I made Joel and Ellie in Sims 3

IT'S A MAD HOUSE
I came across this neato wallpaper, but I think it would look a lot better without the text. Any chance any of you guys have the photoshop skills for such a task?

Do you mean like this? Because this took me 15 seconds in Paint.

because I saw minimole's screenshot before and decided to make a Joel too
Maybe I'm crazy, but [sp]in the hospital level, at the part with the little tent lab thing, if you stand around you can faintly hear Ellie yell "get away from me".[/sp]

"Pipe"? Sewers? "Soon-ish"?
Ish DLC confirmed.
It seems Joel has figured out a way to take hostages without pistol ammo.

I just got to the part where you meet Henry and Sam.
It's kinda annoying how the game shows you an objective marker if you take too long. I know that they want "casual gamers" to finish the game, but it keeps happening every time I want to thoroughly explore an area.
I wonder if there's gonna be any DLC multiplayer with the Infected. Other than that, anybody wanna add me and play when I have time?

That's never happened to me.
Does that only happen for lower difficulties or something?

I'm playing it on Normal. I do take a decent amount of time scanning an area to make sure I didn't miss anything.

i'm not sure about objective markers, but if you take too long, ellie/tess/henry/whoever will yell at you and L3 will pop up
Finally finished the game, can browse this thread.
Probably now my favorite game of all time (beating out Bioshock and Journey) - the story and characters are the most believable I've ever seen in a game
[sp]The ending is perfect. It's not the ending that saves the world - it's the ending that would have actually happened.[/sp]
Only problem I really had with the game was, just like Mass Effect 2/3's waist high walls, whenever there was a 6 foot drop it usually meant a battle. I get that they had to keep you from running all the way back to some place, but it got pretty predictable.
Also, [sp]we never got to hear Joel sing :( [/sp]
Also, Also, [sp] I never used the flamethrower or the smoke bombs once. Flamethrower because there just didn't seem to be all that much need for it so it just never came up, and smoke bombs because I wasn't really sure what the point of them was. It seems pretty easy to lose bandits and whatnot already.[/sp]
Also x3 Wombo Combo, [sp]I was discussing the ending with a friend and he asked what I thought the significance of playing as Ellie was in the last part of the game when you follow Joel to Tommy's town. I hadn't really thought of it, but I said that if you wanted to put meaning into it it could be like this: The player plays as Ellie and follows Joel until the very end of the game, the cutscene and credits. This combined with her accepting Joel's lie kinda symbolizes how she will follow Joel until the very end.[/sp]

Smoke Bombs get more useful if you're doing a playthrough on Survival difficulty.
Believe me, nothing is more useful than taking out three guys in a small area without using a single bullet.
Because the discussion came back to the story. (Spoilers about the end below)
[sp] Ok so maybe im crazy but I feel like plaid symbolizes the protagonist/player. After the intro, Joel wears some kind of plaid shirt until the end. When he doesn't wear the plaid, Ellie wears a plaid jacket after he rescues her from the Fireflies and is actually controlled by the player. I'm not sure if this was coincidental or actually meant to symbolize something. If it was intentional, I think it's kinda neat. [/sp]
If you're going to PAX, Druckman and Straley are having a panel about their first vision of the game and how it ended up.
Pitching The Last of Us
Join Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley as they tell you how they successfully pitched Naughty Dog and PlayStation to develop and publish The Last of Us. From this pitch, Neil and Bruce convinced a bunch of folks to go off on their own to explore game ideas, build a whole separate team inside a formerly one-team only studio, and develop Naughty Dog’s first Mature rated title – all leading to a release this year amidst eventual critical and commercial success. But really, Neil and Bruce will pull back the curtain to show you their original pitch for The Last of Us… and giving everyone at this panel a look at how close or far the final game ended up from the original pitch.
They're also to talk about the original ending. If this doesn't intrigue you, maybe this will:

Is that Marline or Tess? I can't tell.
Tess was originally going to be the main antagonist.
Yeah I could see that being the case, I didn't really like Tess that much, even when [sp]she died[/sp] I didn't have any feels. I could definitely see her as the antagonist based on her personality.
i thought tess was badass
She ain't no lady.
She ain't no lady.
It's all relative.
Just finished this game and it was amazing. [sp]As selfish as it was the way Joel ended it I can't say I would have done things differently were I in his shoes.[/sp]
