Just finished this game and it was amazing. [sp]As selfish as it was the way Joel ended it I can't say I would have done things differently were I in his shoes.[/sp]
[sp]When they were doing Focus tests, the testers said they would have preferred a choice at the end of the game. When they were asked what they'd choose, almost all of them said they'd still rescue Ellie.[/sp]
After beating this game on Survivor, it's amazing how much it adds to the narrative when you give Ellie a "Kill Bill" Jumpsuit and a pair of goggles
Oh shit, when you encounter those [sp]two bloaters in the underground tunnel,[/sp] if you get all the enemies to chase you and then kill them all violently and loudly, Joel says "Endure and survive" after the battle. I had no idea he even said that because I always killed the enemies without them seeing or chasing me. Kinda cool.
Alright, I'm going for a no medkit, no supplement-usage playthrough, on survivor. Let's do this.

Once all of those infected and bloaters got on my screen throwing that stuff on me, I fired up flamethrower and my PS3 crashed :v: .. [/sp]

During the second area in Pittsburgh, Ellie hit a guy with a brick before I killed him. After we cleared the area Joel and Ellie had a quick conversation about how she "Totally nailed that guy." It wasn't even subtitled.
I only have some multiplayer trophies left for that platinum that I feel like I have to get. I guess I know what I'll be doing the rest of this week.
Sorry if it's been mentioned before, but I just finished this game after an all night gaming binge (finished it at 10am this morning). [sp]I really love the comic books and how they mirror/describe Joel and Ellie's story. Like when you find the one in the boat, and it talks about the comic book protagonists being able to trust these characters, right after Henry and Sam leave you at the bridge. My favorite one has to be the final one though; it talks about whether or not the comic books two heroe's sacrifice (of flying their ship into a sun, or a black hole or something) would be enough to save everyone. The whole time, and especially after reading that, I was readying myself to lose Ellie, but I didn't quite think about Joel just fucking everyone up and rescuing Ellie. That last comic really supports everyone's opinions about a cure/vaccine not even solving anything, with how fucked up everything is anyway. [/sp] This is a masterpiece of a game. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Also did anyone else just straight up cry at the beginning, with [sp]Sarah's death[/sp]? No single tear, or getting sniffly, just fucking straight up start crying. I don't know what it is, but I'm stupidly empathetic when it comes to this shit (or I'm a pansy, I don't know. I can very easily immerse myself in games and place myself in those situations. Plus they did such a goddamn great job at making it emotional). It was the same thing with me and The Walking Dead ([sp]When Kenny and Katja were having that last conversation about Duck, and the very end. Goddamn I cried during the end.[/sp]) I really love games that can do this, and so far only TLOU and TWD have done that for me.

I'm still slowly plodding through this game. I've had it for like a month, and I just got to Fall. I know it doesn't make sense, but whenever I have a choice I use bottles instead of bricks. For whatever reason, I feel like they're louder.
My first playthrough, I preferred bottles because they were louder. Then my next playthroughs I used only bricks.
I always took bricks when I had the option so I could brick people to death. It's funny to have a stalker come running out at you only to have its head bashed in with masonic justice.
Just played through the last level again, and realized if you take an enemy as a shield they have appropriate lines: [sp]We're not letting you get the girl She ain't worth it man. You're not getting to her.[/sp]
Does anyone mind recording the Firefly's University recorder for me? I don't care if you're recording it with your phone through your TV's speakers, I just want to hear the full recording. I don't have the game with me to do it myself and I can't find anything with Google.

[sp]The one about how the Fireflies abandoned the university that Joel plays in the cutscene, or the collectable recorder where the scientist talks about the monkeys?[/sp] If it's the latter I could probably record it.

I heard that it was an artifact you receive in your backpack and that you can listen to in full.
Saw this comment on YouTube about the ending, thought it was quite funny. [sp]I doubt the "vaccine"• worked anyway. Besides how would the Fireflies convince Hunters to believe them. Firefly: "Here take this shot and you'll be immune from the infection." Hunter: "Cure for the Infection? Man thats bullshit, but hey you got some nice shoes."[/sp]

Right good game, but its ending really really didn't do it for me. [sp]Joel was hellbent on getting Ellie back from the surgeons, but I personally wasn't- so having to shoot my way through the hospital and then stab that doctor in the neck and then murder the black chick was like not at all what I wanted. Very odd clash of player's motivation vs. player character's motivation. I like Ellie, but I thought letting the fatal surgery happen was the right thing to do. It seemed like that's what Ellie would have wanted- which she even confirms it at the very end. Maybe I would have agreed with Joel's egoistical choice if my relationship with Ellie on par with his, but it wasn't, unfortunately. Alternatively, getting to choose between saving Ellie or not would have been nice. [/sp] Kinda bummed now. [editline]23rd August 2013[/editline] [sp]Already from the start it's clear that Joel only cares about the stuff that affects him, so I think by the end he should have developed the point where he was willing to let his relationship to Ellie go, even though it's the one thing that fills the empty space filled within him after Sarah's death. It would have been a beautiful sacrifice, and I would have bawled intensely. [/sp]

Why would the fireflies evenly distribute it? Would they give it to military too? No, they'd use it as a power thing and it would probably cause even more rebellion shit. Also the world is already done with, there's no saving it to be honest, life goes on (as shown by the giraffes). The best hope for Joel and Ellie is to settle down in Tommy's town. I think the ending was perfect and in all honesty, I don't think it should have ended any other way.[/sp]
New patch, adds new multi-player game-mode. http://www.naughtydog.com/site/post/the_last_of_us_patch_103_interrogation_mode/
Matchmaking update: players should find opponents around their level of experience more often and teams should be balanced more evenly

Matchmaking update: players should find opponents around their level of experience more often and teams should be balanced more evenly
I didn't really get into the multiplayer because I kept getting matched with players that were much better than me. This is good to hear. Also, how exactly do you level up in multiplayer? I've played some matches and increased my population, but when does my level increase?
Also, how exactly do you level up in multiplayer? I've played some matches and increased my population, but when does my level increase?
I think it's just collecting parts in the game, which you can spend to get perk that last the match and then at the end of a match all parts collected add towards leveling up. I haven't played multi-player in a while though, so don't quote me on this.
Holy shit, this'll be good. Can't wait, its time to get comfy in front of the PS3 again. What's with the DLC info they said to give us this month?
It's going to be impossible to find a match now because the only people who still play the MP are people who've been playing it since release and are level 100+, and I'm still level 7 or something.
Interrogation sounds fun as heck. Cool to see a new gamemode come in for free!
It's going to be impossible to find a match now because the only people who still play the MP are people who've been playing it since release and are level 100+, and I'm still level 7 or something.
You'll still be able to get matched up with others, it just increases the odds of running into those around your level. At least I assume it would work that way.
We totally need to get the squad back running again, guys.
So I just finished it and I loved it! I've had it since release but for some reason I stopped playing it for a month or so. I completed it in 18 hours and 40 minutes on hard. How long did it take for you guys?
I hope they don't make a sequel.
I hope they don't make a sequel.
I hope they make more games but from different peoples perspectives. Like different survivor groups throughout different times.
