They're skeleton "monstesr". To me they just "look" like skeletons but they're their own thing. So skeletons monsters weren't human before, they grow up like any other monsters.

It would probably be more impactful than you just levelling up...plus you'd be able to leave with Toriels soul by your logic so technically speaking you'd just be able to waltz past Asgore and leave the underground which would be hilarious but why[/sp]

I guess, but it was never really explained in detail how some monsters what are typically associated with dead humans are, so it's up to personal interpretation.
Them ust being their own thing is probably what makes more sense, but something about a baby Papyrus in his current tall and grown up body is extremely hilarious

So I had a thought about the music puzzle update (late me if you must) and people's general dislike of it.
What if you're deaf?
I get the feeling that could be a big motivation behind it, especially when in the same update the stop-blue was changed to be more colorblind friendly.

I agree but I feel it could've been implemented much better. Possibly put the umbrella in the statue's hands and a rock pops out of the wall and lights up one by one, in time with the tune? Honestly anything would've been better than HERE IS A STRING OF BUTTONS ABOVE AN IMPORTANT EMOTIONAL SCENE. It takes away from the moment and I hope not too many people are playing this for their first time this far into release, because that really was a horrible implementation and will slightly soil that part for them, because it's a huge distraction when you're supposed to be paying attention to the song and the scene itself

Like I said, that was never explicitly mentioned, so it's up to speculation.
I also said that that's probably the most true scenario, but my headcanon is much funnier I refuse to change it.
Considering the nature of monsters, maybe they were spawned "from the id" like in Forbidden Planet? Like how they're all like different kinds of animals or parodies of concepts we're familiar with (skeletons and ghosts and sentient washing machines), perhaps the earlier monsters mirrored what humanity imagined in the olden days, and were generated as a byproduct of their inner power?

All I wanted to do was defeat Sans, this was the purpose of the run. I immediately quit and reset after his defeat.[/sp] Did it with the Steam Controller's D-Pad, too. Turns out it was easier than the keyboard for circular movements so I had a better time using the touchpad D-Pad.

Sort of late to the Alphys discussion but [sp]I remember seeing someone theorize a while back that she arranged the shindig with Mettaton not (just?) so she could be friends with you but so that you would not go on to fight Asgore. As stated, a human and a monster soul are needed to cross, which means that either you would go on to kill Asgore and take his soul, or die yourself, probably leading to another war with humanity. Her plan likely being to make you feel as if you could simply stay in the underground and live happily instead of trying to return to the surface.
It makes it a lot easier to sympathize w/ her and fits her motif of 'tries to do good but keeps fucking up' instead of just being a creepy weird thing she did and nobody ever mentioned it again.[/sp]
