Pacifist Spoilers + Possibly Foreboden
This upsets me
The thing is, though, that the answer is so against conventional RPG concepts. [sp]When have you ever ran away from a boss fight in an RPG? More to the point when is it even possible to do so?[/sp] I don't personally think it was that hard to figure out since it just honestly requires you to pay a little bit of attention, but I love the whole idea behind it.
When I figured it out, it was so hilarious. [sp]NOT GREEN = ESCAPE, OH SHIT LOL[/sp]
It is obvious, although that's not how I figured it out the first time. Once she got mad and only started saying "..." I figured that there was something else that I had to do until I just happened to check the mercy menu to see if anything changed. Undertale was honestly incredibly easy for me to figure out in terms of sparing in my first playthrough, because I've done nothing but play video games for maybe 80% of my life. So it's very easy for me to think outside of the box when games say there are different routes or options on engaging situations. [sp]that and what the one froggit said near the beginning of the game about using spare even if their names arent yellow THE ONE THING THAT EVERYONE SKIPS OVER.[/sp]
I misread that initially, and it just ended up confusing me a bit, but I still [sp]was insistent anyway so I just tried to Spare Toriel a bunch of times before attacking.[/sp] The [sp]...[/sp] was kinda confusing though, I thought [sp]she had ran out of dialogue, so I presumed Sparing might not be a choice but I still tried just in case.[/sp] In a way I kinda like that, even if it's misleading, but that was probably the point. Otherwise no one would [sp]kill her.[/sp]
I'm currently doing one retarded thing, so gonna ask - I've seen some stuff related to Undertale modding, and custom bosses or something like that. Were those just pictures some people made as "that's how it could be" or is it possible to create a custom boss battle?

But if you know Unity then you can check out Unitale: https://www.reddit.com/r/Unitale/
Considering some of the items you find, I don't think some of them were children. I mean I at least hope some of them weren't [sp]what kind of a child carries a goddamn revolver while going about a mountain what[/sp]
I'm still convinced that the "Yellow Soul" was [sp]a gunslinger/Desert Ranger type, sent to investigate a missing person's case, and ended up falling down. I could imagine Toriel being just a little bit frightened of the gunslinger, but helping him through the ruins regardless. Hell, when he decided to leave the Ruins, I bet she didn't even stand in his way or try to keep him there. After all, would you want to argue with a grizzled gunslinger, especially when you're a monster?[/sp]
Okay, so I have finally finished my little animation project and I thought I'd share it here seeing as I received some nice feedback and stuff on the little GIFs from it I posted earlier: It was a very laborious project mostly due to the fact I don't have any real animation software; I had to save each frame as a JPEG resulting in 322 individual images being made which where then upload it into a video editing program then I had edit each frame to about 0.1 seconds, duplicating and looping where needed. As a result animating to the dialogue was far harder than it really needed to be and there were times I found that I didn't have enough unique frames for it which meant making more. I am not a fan of the voice, I've tried a handful of takes for it but was never really satisfied with the end result so as a result the animation is a little more characterful than the character in it, but then the dialogue is probably a major contributing factor of that. Despite those things I did enjoy making it, having never tried animating before it was a fun experience and did give me a couple ideas for more of them which, I dunno, I'd like to make if there is a want for more of them. But then I'd need to get an animation program ahead of that! Anyway, hope you like it.
Huh, looks like Storyshift's back up, and we're at the [sp]Asriel[/sp] Date. This is gonna crazy, I just know it. [Spoilers OBV] http://imgur.com/a/xhjeq Yep, I think I need to go check my blood sugar now...
apng gif You're either going to love or hate what I have planned for the artistic rating.
So I beat this game for the first time last night. I really like it, not just because of the game itself, but how it managed to cheer my brother up considerably. I guess he's been depressed or something for a while, but he recommended the game to me with a cheery voice over the phone a bit ago and wouldn't stop talking about it. Definitely looking forward to discussing it with him. I only wish [sp]I could stop being a huge dork and just reset the game[/sp], since I kind of want to see the bad ending too.
I only wish [sp]I could stop being a huge dork and just reset the game[/sp], since I kind of want to see the bad ending too.
Without explicitly spoiling anything, the emotions you feel from taking that route are definitely worth the price of admission. Not to mention that it offers a drastically-different coat of paint to the gameplay to contrast the good ending and the difficult-but-satisfying fights that ensue. You also get exposed to a different side of characters' personalities and even more backstory. The game is one meant to be played in as many different combinations of routes as possible. Little details that differ from slight changes in play can help give further credence to certain characters or motives. Sure you could watch someone else do it, but it's just not the same as when it's your own hand's doing. It's a powerful thing to have that sort of agency over a run.
[sp]So I just realized why that Mettaton singing scene was so familiar. Is a Parody of the opera scene from FF6 isn't it? [/sp]
I need help guys, I have a friend who wants to do true pacifist, befriended papyrus, didnt kill a thing, and gave Undyne water. However, even tough he has beaten the game twice now sparing everything in the ending, he has not yet recieved papyruse´s call to hang out with Undyne. There is no one neither in Undyne´s house or Papyrus, not even in his room. Any help? EDIT: FFS, I told him to check undynes house again and call Papyrus there. Then, he did, and told me papyrus said that "Thats the house of undyne neighbour. How is his neighbour called .Spooky boo boo?" Turns out, my friend wasnt even going to the right house, when I told him there was another house, he discovered Papyrus waiting him there. Goddammit.
I think a lot of that stems from the [sp]theory that Chara is the narrator of not only genocide but also the pacifist and neutral runs. Which would add a ton of characterization for them[/sp]
Like there could have been a difference between [sp]The Chara that died and the soulless abomination we conjured up at the end of Geno. Though it's pretty much confirmed that Chara pre-death was still a horrible person who wanted to destroy humanity, she might have just been a really suicidal fucked up and angry child.[/sp]
I only wish [sp]I could stop being a huge dork and just reset the game[/sp], since I kind of want to see the bad ending too.
Do it, it's a great experience that gets you thinking about the game and what it represents a bit more. I also had fun with it :v:
Finished the game just now, pacifist route. Goddamn man. Goddamn what an ending
Alright so from what I saw yesterday some people think that going in blind is a bad thing, can I ask why? Why is going in with no knowledge of the game not the best possible experience?
For anyone that saw it yesterday and wants to continue with it, (why would you?), DSP is going to stream more Undertale today.
The [sp]...[/sp] was kinda confusing though, I thought [sp]she had ran out of dialogue, so I presumed Sparing might not be a choice but I still tried just in case.[/sp] In a way I kinda like that, even if it's misleading, but that was probably the point. Otherwise no one would [sp]kill her.[/sp]
My general rule that got me past that problem is "If it gives new dialogue each time I do it, I'm making progress." I only stopped doing something if doing it twice in a row gave the same exact result. [sp](Except Asgore, I was persistent as hell on talking to him at first.)[/sp] Apparently I'm relatively alone there, though. Most people I've seen playing the game seem to just give up at the sight of "..."'s. I don't blame anyone for that either, in many RPG's that's a sign of new dialogue running out, but the purpose here was different. It would be nice if there were another way to portray no response without actually giving no response, as that would only confuse the player even more.
ok I really like Unitale. It's a nice programming practice for my coursework(even though it's in Lua and coursework in Java) it's actually fun to find out how all of this works n stuff. I also spent entire day making actual sprite for the battle I'm doing right now and it turned out to be a bit too big in a scale. :v: oh well, I don't care at this point. I just want to make a cool fight :D
Different take on the stronger than you parodies that I keep seeing. The lyrics are a bit strange at first but I like it. Linked because spoilers.
[sp]So I just realized why that Mettaton singing scene was so familiar. Is a Parody of the opera scene from FF6 isn't it? [/sp]
It's not just a parody, it's using the exact same soundfont for that and the follow-up part.
