If the monsters never learned English properly (which I imagine would be more realistic in some respects, but there's plenty of explanations as to why they do know English), this is how I'd imagine they would sound.

I know it was a page or two back now, but I really feel that I need to point out just how broken the logic of the fellows over at Penny Arcade is.
While this may not be true, it seems that the main reason they dislike Undertale, is because of how it breaks most modern game conventions, and is really, quite a different experience from any other games currently.
So going by this logic, the only good FPS games are ones where all you do is run and shoot, nothing else.
The only good RPG is one where you kill the mystical dragon, grab the treasure, and save a princess.
I could list these forever.
Either way, I can't even begin to describe how wrong this opinion is.
And I know just how retarded I sound when I say "wrong opinion", but I literally have no other way to describe these opinions. "Bad" doesn't even cover it.
Why?
Because without changes in conventions, and games that break from the normal path a little, we would have absolutely no progress.
We'd be sitting here right now talking about how hyped we are for Pong '16, and discussing what made Pong '15 so fantastic, only for Pong '16 to end up being the exact same game as last year's Pong, and the same game as the Pong from 1978.
Now I'm going to go even deeper here, and here's where I might be wrong, but I enjoy picking apart thought processes, so just bear with me.
It seems like for the past few years or so, Penny Arcade has struggled BIG TIME to keep their cultural relevance, and to keep up with modern culture itself.
They've really been pulling a [I]"Simpsons"[/I], if you know what I mean.
The creators are getting older, and they're literally turning into the [I]"My generation was better"[/I] stereotype. With the lack of knowledge of current games, culture, etc., they have literally no basis for their work.
They can't create relevant comics, articles, anything. So what do they do?
They make something about a modern piece of entertainment in the only way they know how.
By complaining.
They whine and moan about just how awful the kids of this generation are, and how absolutely horrible everything they like is. The worst part is that they obviously realize that they're becoming the whiny "old people", but they just fully embrace it.
Just because your dad was disgusted because you listened to Nirvana doesn't mean you get to do the same thing, turning around and yelling at kids for enjoying something you don't.
I find it even more odd, because if anything, Undertale is much closer to the things they would have played when they were young, than almost [I]anything[/I] out there right now.
Yes, it does some [I]"scary"[/I] new things, but it also has it's roots in classic games and culture.
There's so many things in the game that wouldn't be there at all if Earthbound, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy never existed.
I really don't know where to go with this, since there's just so much bizarre shit going on with them right now, but I thought I'd just throw in my two cents.
Every time I read Penny Arcade I usually got confused at what they're talking about, be it that I've never played the game their referencing or what was said is really incoherent. Most of the time it was the latter.
