Plus then there's the added confusion since there are eight humans that have literally fallen down...with seven of them having fallen down.[/sp] Undertale is one of those games where no matter what you do, you're in a minefield of spoilers. Even something as benign as describing how the combat system works at a technical level spoils the fake-out tutorial that happens in the first minutes of play with Flowey.

That's why he does hardly anything in the pacific route, but the more you kill monsters the more Chara manifests himself in Frisk. Leaving him behind to devolve back into a sociopathic flower unsupervised is so much worse than having him under watchful eyes for the remainder of his existence, and even that runs on the assumption that the scientific force of the human race+monsters wouldn't find a way to reverse the damage done to him after any given amount of time. His whole "forget me, for everyone's sake" routine is nothing more than a justification to avoid facing his own sins. If he can't face them, I bet my ass that he's liable to repeat them.
