I don't think [sp]Saving Asriel is the right thing to do, the real Asriel is already dead, and what we saw was just their essence reincarnate, and I don't think you can completely revive him without using up another seven human souls, in which case he'd be more dangerous[/sp]
[sp]Or perhaps, through getting Sans and Alphys off their butts, build a time machine powered by the Core, throw Frisk back through the centuries to when Asriel re-entered the underground, and have them take Asriel's soul before it disappears. Then they return to the present, faint in the lab, and end up in a mind-battle against the panicked prince as you try to calm him down.
Then everything proceeds as normal through True Pacifist, but when Flowey shows up to snag the human souls, you jam Asriel's soul down his throat, giving him his compassion back and striking him numb with remorse. Two minds in the same body, the original prince and his reincarnation, both of them now capable of moving on with the support of the friends they didn't know they had.[/sp]

oh yeah I just haven't seen the symbol before and I knew that it definitely wasn't his own emblem, just didn't know where it came from
how many of you would pay for an undertale sequel set after true pacifist where you just do day to day activities. Like go to the store and buy groceries for Toriel, Help Papyrus with cooking, stuff like that. And then just turn absolutely mundane things "exciting" someway or another.
EDIT:
Stuff like making spaghetti with Undyne. That was mundane made awesome.
Thing is, in theory that could easily be an expansion pack.
Undertale doesn't need a sequel
If it had a sequel, it could be ruined by fan expectations, and the fact that there is no possible room for more story, except [sp]Chara[/sp] But even then, you only need to know is [sp]Chara fucked things up[/sp]
Undertale is a masterpiece alone, I don't even think I want updates to it other than bug fixes and the possible hardmode. I think not knowing certain things in the story makes it that much more interesting, like [sp]Gaster[/sp].

Hard mode on the other hand...

[sp]Humans can't absorb monster souls though.[/sp]
[sp]You have little faith in human scientists. I may not be a smart man, but I know more than my fair share, and they all get off to proving people wrong when they're told "it can't be done".
I'd swear it was like cocaine to them. It's almost scary.
Also, one monster (Alphys) pulled from a population pool of, what, a thousand monsters at most perhaps, was able to bring someone back from the dead without a soul, basically with nothing but re-engineered scrap metal and discarded electronics floating down a stream. If I had money to gamble, it would be on the scientific community (and the 7 billion pool of brains it has to pick from, and the government funds spent on discerning the nature of the soul and the threats it may represent to national security.) Pulling a bunch of big words out of a thesis and getting around the problem. Synthetic soul? A substitute of some kind? Could a soul be created, much to the chagrin of the "We must not play God" people with signs who show up to protest in science fiction novels and movies?
I'd be stunned if they didn't find something, honestly.[/sp]
[sp]You're completely missing the point of the story with this. The game establishes the fantasy elements pretty clearly. You need souls to keep flowey as Asriel, and there is no way to manufacture souls. Saying that the game is wrong when it explicitly tells you this makes no sense. There is nothing at all in the game that indicates Asriel could remain without the souls of actual living things.
To use an example, this is like if saying that in Lord of the Rings they should have just gotten all the wisest wizards and elves in Middle Earth together to figure out a way to destroy the ring without going to Mordor. The magic protecting the ring is ambiguous, right? Surely with all of Middle Earth working together, they could figure out how to pull it off, right? No, because it's established in the story that that doesn't work. Suggesting that the Elrond might have been wrong about it being invulnerable is pointless because nothing at all in the story indicates that he might have been wrong.[/sp]
