[sp]...says who? It's obvious from what Asgore says when you beat him ('Take my soul and leave this accursed place') humans can absorb monster souls. The only thing is that a monster cannot absorb the soul of a monster (Asriel is an exception since as Flowey he was technically something else) and a human cannot absorb human souls. This was explained in the history plaques in Waterfall.[/sp]

[sp]do you want to have a really fucking bad time, kiddo?[/sp]
[sp]Humans can't absorb monster souls though.[/sp]
Actually, it was theorized that they could, if you remember what was written in Waterfall. The soul of a certain kind of monster could persist for a while after death, that of a "Boss Monster".
Not to mention, if humans could not express themselves through magic, how could seven of humanity's finest sorcerers create the Barrier? Perhaps if they'd slain Boss Monsters during the War and snapped up their souls?
how many of you would pay for an undertale sequel set after true pacifist where you just do day to day activities. Like go to the store and buy groceries for Toriel, Help Papyrus with cooking, stuff like that. And then just turn absolutely mundane things "exciting" someway or another.
EDIT:
Stuff like making spaghetti with Undyne. That was mundane made awesome.
So like an Undertale version of Postal 2 except without slaughtering the fuck out of everything just to cut in line.
[sp]You're completely missing the point of the story with this. The game establishes the fantasy elements pretty clearly. You need souls to keep flowey as Asriel, and there is no way to manufacture souls. Saying that the game is wrong when it explicitly tells you this makes no sense. There is nothing at all in the game that indicates Asriel could remain without the souls of actual living things.
To use an example, this is like if saying that in Lord of the Rings they should have just gotten all the wisest wizards and elves in Middle Earth together to figure out a way to destroy the ring without going to Mordor. The magic protecting the ring is ambiguous, right? Surely with all of Middle Earth working together, they could figure out how to pull it off, right? No, because it's established in the story that that doesn't work. Suggesting that the Elrond might have been wrong about it being invulnerable is pointless because nothing at all in the story indicates that he might have been wrong.[/sp]
[sp]Man, if you wanna give up on Asriel based on thematic elements, that's your prerogative. What I took away from the game is that being a determined little bastard in the face of hopelessness will get you forward, and I'm too determined to give up on Asriel.
I REFUSE this ending, goddamnit.[/sp]
Don't know if it has been posted yet, but this is some dank ass art.

I really wouldn't mind an N64/PS1 styled remake of Undertale

I'd choose to forget everything I knew about the game after every reset so I could replay it with the same impact forever.
Honestly I don't think undertale needs a sequel but I would be fine with spin off games. Just think of a mario kart game but with undertale characters. Simply games like that really shine with these types of characters.
I do feel though that Toby is working a prequel, and I'm fine with that. Undertale shines by showing off the underground. I think the game would lose some charm if they designed the game on the surface.

The creator of the models says he's not going to do anything with them but he is going to release them, so I hope someone picks them up and makes a game with them
I also think he's only making the main characters so that means no Snowdin townies, common monsters, etc.

shit game 0/10 :dog:s
What do you guys hope for with a potential Hard Mode? Besides it being harder naturally.
You know Toby would sneak all sorts of differences into it from basegame stuff. I'd honestly hope for [sp]an actual Metaton Neo fight[/sp]

Honestly, just having characters be a bit more ruthless in their interactions would be great. I also wouldn't mind [sp]Genocide Alphys trying to stop you by doing something fucked up with her DETERMINATION research[/sp]

I always felt like the notable fights from the Genocide route were de-facto hard mode variants of the Undyne and Papyrus fights.
An issue with adding a formal full-game hard mode at this point would be the amount of changes that would need to be made to accommodate all of the different routes. Especially the already-difficult fights that crop up during the genocide route, imagine having to design harder variants of them.
He's able to skirt by with just the first area being used for hardmode because there's really no discernible difference between a pacifist, genocide, and neutral playthrough on a storyline level, the only differences stem from the interaction with Toriel at the ruins door.
While I'd greatly appreciate a formal hard-mode, I know it's incredibly difficult to facilitate at this stage in the game's life.

You have to make it in less than 6 seconds for red, 8 for orange, 11 for yellow, 15 for blue, 20 for green, more than 20 for purple and, if the ball's size is .6 or less when you win, light blue.
I don't really think they need to make the big genocide fights any harder [sp]especially sans[/sp].
I guess it really depends on the scope of how much he's thinking of changing.

If you consider that quite a few people have no-hit the bosses already, I think they could serve to be more difficult for hard mode.
Realistically, I'd like to see the story deviate from the normal path, even if only a bit. It'd be a little boring if it was the same the whole way through except for harder fights.
