Woof! That's a fair effort, you've got about 141HP to go to match the most we've seen someone get (there is no paticular hard limit we've set). Here is the "Big Power" thread on our forums, where a few people seem to have topped out at 3640hp - http://automationgame.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1990&start=60
This is awesome and I want to throw all my money at you. I recreated my car's engine (to the best of my knowledge) and the performance results are practically identical the factory specs. Only thing that stands out is the idle speed, which is at around 600 rpm whereas my car idles at about 1000rpm. I waited, the engine doesn't warm up. Speaking of which, will heat simulation (and management) ever be a thing?
I can't get that one more horsepower out of it
Well just holy motherfucking shit.

Also turbos spool up a little suddenly right now. The idle speed should probably change with various factors but... it doesn't :P Heat management will indeed be a thing once you put it into a car. If you're going to put a 600kw motor into a little hatchback you'll need to find a place for 600kw worth of radiator, vents/grilles/airflow to that radiator, and if its a turbo motor, find a place for the intercooler that you can feed enough air to. It's going to make packaging huge power engines in small cars quite a challenge! :)

I'm happy to note that this one has an MTBF of 3035km - maybe I'll run Le Mans with it. [editline]25th June 2013[/editline] Have also been working on a very small displacement 1000cc turbo V8 along the same architectural lines, for fitment as a homologation-special hot-hatch powerplant. Can get it to quite decent MTBF in road car trim at about 375HP.
I love how nice we've got this bit of gameplay working, you really need to tweak the hell out of your tuning to get these super high outputs playing nicely :)
just a few more!
Butre, very nice work! The octane requirements and rpm ceiling indicate that there is still some headroom to be exploited. Is that the single-port manifold you've got going there?
Butre, very nice work! The octane requirements and rpm ceiling indicate that there is still some headroom to be exploited. Is that the single-port manifold you've got going there?
single throttle direct injection, if that's what you're asking. I had an easier time getting this up high than I did twin or tpc. if I switch to throttle per cylinder I lose about 75 horsepower and can't get it back no matter what settings I mess with. I guess maybe a lot of times simpler is better. I think getting that last 17 horsepower is down to turbo settings but turbos aren't really my thing
Butre, very nice work! The octane requirements and rpm ceiling indicate that there is still some headroom to be exploited.
Tiny bit more octane yeah, but you may find that increasing RPM requires a shorter stroke to keep the pistons from making a spectacular escape from the engine, and thus the lost capacity might lose you power. That's the interesting trade off :P
I don't actually have that much room as far as octane goes. I've got mine set in AKI, not RON. 94.9 AKI is about 100 RON by my rough guess
I don't actually have that much room as far as octane goes. I've got mine set in AKI, not RON. 94.9 AKI is about 100 RON by my rough guess
Ah, didn't notice it was in AKI, yeah, you're at the limit there then, doubt you can take advantage of .1 more :P
I prefer to build somewhat more usable engines. Like this 2.2 liter 220 hp engine. It's quite cheap for it's performance, is somewhat reliable and it might fit in a car. Oh, and it's built in eighties [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/KZ6Wr0B.jpg[/thumb]
I remember this. I was following it way back in I think early 2011 on ModDB.
Would we ever be able to drive our cars? Race them maybe?
Well, not in game, but devs plan to include rFactor (or other race sim, undecided yet) exporter
Well, not in game, but devs plan to include rFactor (or other race sim, undecided yet) exporter
Ideally, yeah :) [editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
I remember this. I just changed the fuel from unleaded 95 to unleaded 98 and the horsepower went from 90 to 130. Why did that happen?
Probably because you quit knocking. :v:
Yup, it probably requires approx. 96.4-96.5 RON fuel right now.

Any chance we'll ever see rotaries? [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] Or do they involve too much witchcraft?
on the automation forums in the faq thread it says possible dlc
You know what, we have too many people asking for why X that's not in the game yet, and are we gonna see type X engines in there? I'm dying to get my hands on the car designer. Hoping the wait is measured in months and not years.
It can be in any measurement, (even in centuries or seconds, if you want), but it's most practical to measure it in months, as it is predicted to come out at Q4 this year.

Remains to be seen if we'll meet that target, but going well so far :) [editline]1st July 2013[/editline]
Any chance we'll ever see rotaries? [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] Or do they involve too much witchcraft?
We'd love to, but already got loads on our plate just to finish the main game. First major DLC engine will probably be Diesels, because of how crazy common and useful they are, then things like rotaries might make it into the picture if we're still selling well :)
Loving these designer pictures. Can't wait to use it myself.
