It's better than FNV for sure, which was the bottom of the barrel gunplay-wise of ANY game featuring a FPS mode whatsoever, but it's still pretty bad.
man I wouldn't say NV's gameplay was some of the worst of all time, it was sub-mediocre, not Slaughtering Grounds :v:

What about FO3? Shouldn't that mean FO3 qualifies for worst, given that it's FNV without iron sights?
Even Fallout 3 could be fun to vaporize dudes via shotgun if you were OP enough

Pretty much.

Speaking of that, I've noticed the shotguns in 4 feel incredibly underwhelming compared to 3 or NV.
Speaking of that, I've noticed the shotguns in 4 feel incredibly underwhelming compared to 3 or NV.
I hated them In 3, they were useless against anything standing further than 2 metres away, then they were incredible in NV, and now it seems like they have gone back around to being rubbish again.
The combat shotgun Is totally broken if you get it with the explosive legendary effect however, so it's not all bad for shottys.
I enjoyed shooting stuff in NV. My main complaint is just how bad the enemy AI is.
But hell, at least they don't use explosive weapons in melee range like in Fallout 4.

I remember my first death in fallout 4 was down to me overestimating the intelligence of the AI.
In most games ive played you could prevent a bad guy with a missile launcher from firing by getting close to them. It's a less than successful tactic in fallout 4.
How much longer untill we get an imersive first person camera type mod?

Ever use the Double Barrel from Point Lookout? Shit was beast even at mid-range, and reloaded in half a second, one of my favourite weapons. Never managed to capture the feeling with the double barrel in FO4, even fully upgraded with the mighty or powerful modifier.

The dual barreled shotgun with the longest barrel and a full stock feels nice because it actually has decent range. I prefer the bleeding legendary effect over explosions because it's less obnoxious but still deadly as fuck.

Its already been done, kinda.

So far so good
The only shotgun I couldn't stand was probably the sawn-off. For some reason it just felt really inadequate for a 1-shot kinda gun. Not to mention it looked stupid and got outclassed almost instantly in Fallout 3.
And I never got to use the lever-action. I've always had a problem where I would accidentally miss some mid-tier guns.

The lever action was great, but annoyingly hard to find before better options were available.

Not to mention, it was one-handed, the sawn-off. I made some modifications to make it look two-handed. Looked pretty cool.

Funny thing about that was- I saw it's insane damage in my pipboy, got all hyped up for shotgun carnage, and went off to blast some tribals. The shotgun barely hurt them, I was reloading several times per kill, so I decided the gun sucked and never used it again.
At the time, I was quite young, and wasn't actually aware that every single one of the baddies in Point lookout were soaking up the double barrel's damage due to a shared magical armour buff.
If I had actually brought the gun with me back to the capital wasteland, It would probably have owned.

A friend of mine played on my TTW save blackout drunk a while ago, and he took hundreds of screenshots of super mutants he had killed doing this shit.

No; it's just that anything in cutscene mode in a bethesda game doesn't like to be tampered with in anyway shape or form

Man I just want to talk about how fucking ridiculous some of the enemies are in the DLCs.
It's not uncommon for DLC enemies will have +1000 health and do +100 damage in Fallout 3 and sometimes they even had the added bonus of getting flat bonus damage to all of their attacks that the player couldn't block or reduce through armor.
and NV had those goddamn motherfucking legendary creatures
Similar to the tri-beam laser rifle in Broken Steel, the double-barrel shotgun has an object effect which inflicts an extra 35 damage per hit when used by non-player characters against the player. However, unlike other Point Lookout weapons affected by this additional damage, the double-barrel shotgun applies this damage per pellet, making it possible for the weapon to apply an extra 315 damage if all 9 pellets strike the player. Additionally, this damage ignores Damage Resistance and is independent of the condition of the weapon, making it especially deadly in the hands of swampfolk and other non-player characters.
At least the NV legendary creatures appeared only once. You could get meat-shotted by any hillbilly that is able to hold a fucking shotgun.
Holy shit what were they thinking?
Thank fuck for sneaking.
oh thats why i put on P:N rebalance for all my fallout New vegas games

You never had to deal with the single legendary creatures though. They were entirely optional, not even part of any quest, just there for gloating rights, so i don't think them being bullshit was that bad. The closest new vegas had to annoying bulletsponge enemies getting in the way of your game were roboscorpions during OWB. And you still could disable them with the right frequency and just run past if you wanted to.
If anything i got annoyed by the opposite and how weak the ghosts from Dead Money were. "They are invincible creatures that can't be downed unless you cripple them!!!" and yet every shot crippled them anyway. I don't think i ever saw a downed ghost get up again, hell i don't even think i saw a downed ghost, they all died fairly quickly anyway.
Is there a mod that gives back maybe 90-100% of the items back when scrapping a player placed object?
Always misplace things like using the wrong sized wall pass through conduit.

I've never actually done a sneak run of a Fallout game. I've always prioritized lockpick, science, speech, (small) guns, and as of New Vegas and all the skill checks, most everything else, and I didn't want to spend the points on it.
And now that we're using the perk system in Fallout 4, I couldn't even level it up as fast as I'd like unless I got lucky as shit with Idiot Savant.
I remember mods that removed the magic armor and damage buffs.
Made your armor actually protect you.
