Look, beyond the fact that all common sense states that it's a Dr. Who reference, every single other person in the Fallout community has accepted it as such, the fact that it's totally unexplained otherwise should give you a hint that it's no more than an easteregg referencing something, and a simple Google search will explain to you what the reference was if you somehow didn't know from being on the internet for more than 5 years, the TARDIS is referenced multiple times in the game files.
The sprites are named TARDIS.FRM, and the sound file is STARDIS.ACM (I can only assume the S stands for "sound," forgive me if I'm somehow taking too much liberty in assuming that this is the sound file for the police box and not some sort of strange spaceship thing). The wiki ([url=http://i.imgur.com/7dX6ZPI.png]Link 1[/url], [url=http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/MAP.MSG_(Fallout)]Link 2[/url], and [url=http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/MAP.MSG_(Fallout_2)]Link 3[/url] for your convenience) lists the map file itself as TARDIS.MAP. I'd confirm that last one myself, but all the dat extractor tool links seem to be down and I don't care enough about it to bother.
However, you can verify the first two on your own by opening master.dat of Fallout 2 (and probably Fallout 1, I didn't have that installed) with a hex editor and running a search for "TARDIS." There are two results. The first one's filepath is "art\scenery\TARDIS.FRM" and the second one's "sound\SFX\STARDIS.ACM."
So you can go on believing that every easteregg in Fallout is canon for all I care, but you've gotta be fucking kidding me if you're going to sit there and deny that a fucking disappearing blue "police box from the UK, circa 1960" somehow isn't a TARDIS just because the doctor himself didn't pop out and shove his dick in your mouth, canon or not.

I want to spend a minute or ten discussing the kind of "arguments" that go on in this thread, the viciousness of some people and the outright stupidity of others.
It is undeniable that there is a chunk of this thread's population that goes ballistic on a moment's notice for seemingly the dumbest things. A simple remark can turn into 300 posts of back and forth shitflinging, name calling and other such nonsense, and I'm compelled to ask why.
I think the response is simply that there's people here that cannot deal with opinions, let alone with remarks on said opinions. The entire concept that someone may just make an observation, or try to rationalize, or try to bring some relativity to an issue without trying to start a war seems to go over some people's heads, and we end up with situations where doing something as little as pointing out the overreaction in a statement or trying to explain the logic in a design decision (without inherently agreeing to it, but simply trying to understand it) can lead to the same few posters spouting the same overdone, overreacting, circlejerk tier shit about fanboys, name calling and pretentious dismissal of good points.
There's far too many posters on this thread that are on my ignore list, because I know that their posts will in their majority be just blatant shit flinging with no actual substance.
You may or may not agree with me on some of the stuff I said, but I actually put some reasoning to them, some form of effort to make a point that's reasonable and has a start and an end. However any time I or anyone else attempts to make an observation relative to the discussion, or rationalize a decision, it's instantly perceived as some form of aggressive fanboyism.

You also can't see terminals or your pipboy, I had to downgrade drivers (find adapter in device manager, hit properties and roll back through there). It was confirmed as a bug on either the beth or nvidia forums (can't remember which one it was) last night

A few pages back a few posters, myself included, pointed out some small detail about the upcoming DLC that we found disappointing- and you managed to spend the next half a page aggressively trying to dismiss the opinions you disagreed with, to the point where you were out-right making personal attacks on other posters.
