This is why I greatly prefer DT to DR. A dude in power armor should not be able to be beaten to death by a guy with a baseball bat unless he's not wearing his helmet. It just shouldn't happen, imagine hitting a suit of T-60 with a piece of wood, which is going to break?.
Funny thing is though, the armor armor in NV and FO4 are pretty similar when it comes to dealing with small arms fire.
In Fallout 4, your Damage resistance is compared to damage in a ratio, does some weird math loopty loops, and then spits out the new damage. The closer that ratio is, the less damage is reduced. It's kinda got a funky formula because it's accounting for the fact that DR can go over 100, but the takeaway is that a 500 DR suit of power armor is still going to block 80-90% of most incoming damage sources, specially low damage ones which will be reduced to 2dmg plinks.
In Fallout NV, DT simply subtracts itself from the damage but no matter what it may never reduce an attack to less than 20% of the original. So like Fallout 4, power armor is going to block 80% of most plinky guns. Unlike Fallout 4 however, there are still enemies that can bypass your DT and fuck you up.
[editline]19th August 2016[/editline]
I'd actually go as far to say that Fallout 4's power armor is far more likely to protect you than NV's. DT for them hovers around 20-30 which is easier to overcome than Fallout 4's PA DR.
Can't wait for the not AK rifle in Nuka World.
Loved the assault rifle in FO3 and was disappointed when NV and FO4 didn't have it.

All I can say is you'll like it, but if you're like me and already have a 5000~ dps LMG.
There's really no replacement currently.
The new weapons require skills points in rifleman, Commando, big league and the pistol one to upgrade tho, so it's a bit weird when you can easily upgrade a rocket launcher but an ak is too hard
i've been pretty out of the loop from Far Harbor's release until now. how was far harbor generally compared to past DLC's and is it worth getting?
Yes

It's great.
Ok this is bugging me, why is 'RADIO' higher then the rest?

Where did you get that?
/fog/ started talking about some Honest Hearts Overhaul mod that came out a while ago. Apparently it's fucking trash
From what I gathered via the change log,
>Legion favored "ending" doesn't exist. You help them a bit before siding with Joshua.
>Joshua leads a tribe called "The Burned Ones" who all wear his iconic mask. Joshua incidentally doesn't wear the mask.
>White Legs are now the Bloodstones.
>Daniel, Follows Chalk and the rest of the cast are not present.
>Hell even the Sorrows and Dead Horses are not present.
>Joshua has a new voice, and it is fucking awful.
>Salt Upon Wounds is now a woman
>Legion guy with the green hair

Why would you overhaul Honest Hearts?
So I got the Nuka World beta through "alternate" means and I seem to have a massive problem.
[sp]At the Nuka Car Arena thing towards the end of the initial gauntlet, I literally can't see shit cause it's like there's a clusterfuck of god knows what clipping through the entire place. No idea how to get through it or do whatever it is I'll have to do to get through the gauntlet. The whole place is impossible to navigate.[/sp]
Guess I shouldn't have jumped the gun and remained patient til the thing is officially released. Woops.
It's very simple and grounded to reality compared to the other DLC. Some people have a twisted vision of how Fallout should be and only see Nuka Cola and over the top dialogue.
I really liked the feeling of getting away from the rest of the world that came with honest hearts, A lot of people gave it shit, but wandering around the canyons and caves, hunting, learning about the tribes and, uncovering the story of the survivalist (and collecting his sweet gear) made it such a good experience imo.
Plus the whole set up of being part of a caravan walking miles into the dangerous- still savage- areas of post war america appealed a lot to me.
not sure if this has been posted before but apparently Van Buren was going to have both normal and dumb quest logs:
• Rewards: Nuka Cola x6, Fruit x5, 2 Stimpaks, 100 Caps
• Normal Journal: Emma told me that the giant wasps outside of the Union are starting to carry off drunk patrons who aren't careful. She'd like me to get rid of them.
• Dumb Journal: Emma want me kill wasps.
• Normal Journal: I killed eight wasps near the Union, and that seems to be all of them.
• Dumb Journal: Me kill all wasps dead.
• Normal Journal: Emma thanked me for killing the wasps and gave me something for the effort.
• Dumb Journal: Emma happy me kill wasps. Give me things.

I didn't have that problem, and you're the first person I've seen post it.
I really wish Van Buren was finished, i'd like some more classic fallout.
Side note, I've yet to encounter any essential NPCs in Nuka World, though I haven't tried killing everything, but I have killed a couple quest givers.
Any mod makers mind helping me out? I'm trying to unwrap a mesh in Blender but the texture file is just blank transparency, no guidelines. Been using Blender for years but never made a model.

disable some mods?
I didn't have that problem, and you're the first person I've seen post it.
Well my beta Nuka World was not obtained through normal channels.
disable some mods?
I have absolutely no idea what could cause it since I haven't had mod issues with any previous DLC.

For some reason its caused by a mod or two effecting that area in particular.
Open your console click the offending geo and enter DISABLE. Repeat until it all goes away. Since its not actually part of the room.
Just dont accidentally disable actual room geo use dont use "MarkforDelete" It doesn't like that when you leave the area.
As far as I know, the main Game and DLC .esp/.esm/whatever have to load after another, so cut those three mods in the middle to the end of the DLC load list.
DLC should be placed directly after the main esm in the load order according to their date of release, oldest-newest
mods shouldn't be inbetween

Aye noticed that. Even so, disabling every mod I own leaves it the exact same.
