Am I the only person with lighting issues for your own vault? I don't feel like setting up light for every single tile, but I can't see anything otherwise. Even with light it just looks like shit.
Same website that has a mod team that refused to ban an extremely toxic person because they made good mods, don't expect much from them
Does anyone have a link to the post where the moderation team literally said this?(I remember it happening I just want to see it again)
The tag system helps. Like you can try and remove CBBE and 'un-lore friendly' mods. But it's all up to the mod author and some don't use any tags or use the wrong ones or throw their shit into completely irrelevant ones.
A problem I realized is that... well, there's just not many quality mods coming out. I love diversifying the armor and weapons, they're my most downloaded mods. I have like thirty weapon mods and a merged list just because I love diversity in my game. Anything that adds more of it is an A++ in my book. Even mods that add new textures or models (I think I saw one a long time ago that added new types of cars to Fallout 3, which I loved).
So imagine my disappointment when I spent half an hour on Fallout 4 Nexus and I'd found most of the good weapon mods that aren't just random 21st century guns or the hundreth M1911. It took me five minutes to grab literally every decent armor/clothing mod which is pretty much just NCR armor, adventurer armor, and the raider overhaul. The Rebel was removed so that's gone. I got to about page 10 when I realized that there's just no quality armor mods out there. I sorted by top in the last two weeks and there was hardly a page and they were all reskins.
I'm sort of amazed. The Creation Kit is still relatively new, but nobody really seems to be using it. It doesn't help that the Nexus's policies on copyright pretty much mean you need to hand model everything, which is fucking ridiculous since the Creation Kit has so little support unless you want to use the same version of Blender/Maya that the Vatican was designed on, and the 3rd party software to bring it all together is non-existant and you have to rely on outdated programs for Skyrim and older Bethesda games that hardly work for the intended games, let alone for Fallout 4. Or how even with all the proper software, you still have to jump through so many hoops to make it work properly, and the addition of the multi-part armor means half the time you have to design your armor to even fit in with twelve different vanilla pieces or just exclude their use, and EVEN THEN, you have to scale it and make that work correctly and make sure it works with the skeleton and the dismemberment system and the new body-slider system.
Really with all of this it's sorta no wonder half the mods coming out are horribly hackneyed rip offs and nude mods. When you look at it, modding is also a massive echo chamber after a fashion. Nexus modders all help eachother out, one of the only ways to actually figure out how to make a proper mod or get support to do so, which with all of the stuff you need to do, is pretty much necessary as only a team can grind out high quality mods at this point. I mean look at the DKS-501 mod by LtCommander. It's fantastic, and high quality, and since it's a weapon mod is avoids a lot of the bullshit of armor modding, and there's also a lot more support out there for weapon modding, and he's a very experienced modeller and modder, and has a skill at it, and it was still (from what I read) a massive pain in his ass to get off the ground and I don't think any of us can expect him to just pump out a lot of other mods with that quality. Imagine that for less experienced modellers / modders, and I think it becomes obvious why we're seeing so few mods.
Even outside of the Nexus. You have third party forums that don't care about copyright and allow direct porting and have lower standards for weird shit, like Gunetwork or the Russian forums. You get a lot of great mods coming out of them, especially since they're a lot more helpful and it's easier to find help their without making lowest denominator mods like on the Nexus. But even then they're mostly just putting out ports because they don't know all of the software or methods yet themselves and what we do know is fucking annoying to use on the best of days.
Modding has only gotten harder and the community to do it more reclusive and against the idea of new blood and ideas. If you're not making a titty armor mod you're not going to get too much help from the two biggest communities, Nexus and Loverslab. Those modders there who do good work are either too busy to help newbies and make guides, don't care or dislike the community and thus avoid it or are fucking pricks and have half their foot in the pumping out trite camp themselves. Other communities are too small and don't have the amenities of Nexus like the Nexus Mod Manager or their safe download severs, and with the mod community being flooded by console users who just want the titty armor mods or weapon mods or immersive more gore and killing mods, the quality either dissapears in disgust or gets buried beneath it all. And since the other sites are so small and obscure (you can't just google "Fallout 4 mods" because the first thirty pages are Nexus and youtube) nobody is going there to learn.
Wow, I feel like I had a lot more passionate opinions on Fallout modding than I ever realized.

I am tired as shit and rambling so this will all probably be incomprehensible in the morning. And I might be dead wrong, call me retarded if I am, but that's what I've observed.
Damn it, i wish the old fallout item could be ported. thanks god for Wasteland imports, too bad that the development is pretty slow atm

Nah everyone complained about this at first, there's a mod that improves the lights added by the dlc
It should be pointed out that at the moment the CK is a gigantic resource hog. It's really hard to do anything when your memory is almost maxed out at 99% for a good portion of time, even outside of rendering stuff like Diamond City. It's easier in the long run to make stuff like CBBE mods right now because of how you have to fight against the kit.
I know it's still a beta but it's kind of ridiculous.
Wasteland Imports perhaps has the best presentation I've ever seen from a mod. Like ffs it's got a manual that makes me wanna cream every time I look at it.
But tbh the new stims seem a little OP because of the percentage based healthing. Like I get Beth might have wanted to reduce stim spamming but like, you can still fucking spam them it's just that now it takes less. So of course Wasteland Imports has to take up the same system to stay useful but now you have stims that heal 90 to 100% for a relatively low price.
Looking for some good New Vegas mods, anyone got any suggestions?
I'd say this is probably because Fallout 4 needs the most mods
Out of all the Bethesda games I mod none of them have even come close to hitting the mod limit except Fallout 4. There's just a lot more needing to be tweaked or fixed IMO
theres also not the big project mods like project nevada which combined a lot of mod fixes into one mod
is there a way to prevent ejecting fusion cores when I alt-tab or just press alt to power attack? it's getting really annoying when I accidentally eject cores. I just blew up four of my powered water pumps because of this.
isn't there a mod that separates the power attack key and ejection key? I might be confusing that with something else, I guess.

it fixes a lot

also on the late topic of anime/cbbe/skimpy mods, how the fuck did two shadman mods make it to front page earlier this week? They should not allow adult mods on the hot files banner lol
Thought i'd post an image of my raider character whom is now lost to corruption after many hard times in survival mode.
Had some weird graphical blur thing going down in the last week i've been playing, you can see it heavily on his gun so i'm fresh installing my game and ini files, not to bothered.

The unfortunate thing is that neither of them use any of the[sp]copious amount of child porn[/sp] he draws so you can't report them and have them taken down.

it's not that i want them taken down, i think the fact that tons of people like/upload adult mods is unavoidable, but it's pretty unsettling for most people to see that on the front page.

That's totally understandable, I was just suggesting that having them removed for illegal content would probably happen before the people in charge of the nexus make the necessary change so adult mods don't show up on the front page like that.
Nuka-World is leaving me with a mixed bag feeling all over; I really hope the final release works on the actual commanding raider aspects because it's lackluster as hell.

iirc s/he doesn't care if people use his or her artwork for mods. More exposure i guess
Not really. I think it makes slight adjustments to the eyes and skin but the replacements are near indistinguishable from vanilla. If you're afraid of overwriting stuff though you could just convert it to a FOMOD
It's probably why he linked that instead of Redesigned 3 since that one adds in a ton of new meshes/textures
I'm just hoping that all the people who will make good mods are waiting for the final version of 4 so their mods don't break, and are practicing the CK before modding out there. I'm cautiously optimistic
Anyone else want a real Nuka Blaster? We really need more merchandise.
So we know the thirst zapper doesn't do damage, at least by default, but does it aggro people like a real weapon?
[sp]Does the power plant at Nuka World only get turned back on if I do the next raider missions, IE take a commonwealth outpost, or can I go about my own scourge on all the raiders and have it turned back on after Nuka World is free again?[/sp]

Can't wait for the DLC-sized mod for fallout 4! Maybe even more..
The CK is still in beta.. that's frustrating and bethesda don't even give any new about it.
Anyone have a fix for this? I don't think I can even do anything with the other settlements because the sanctuary quest is bugged
Sanctuary and its quests are meaningless.
I skip Sanctuary every time and move on to somewhere else. As long as you find the red workbench in a settlement, you can build there.
Hope we get a mod that adds in death animations from Fallout 1 and 2.
