So after buying Fallout 4 during the Steam summer sale and playing through roughly 45% of the main story quest, I installed a few mods...

I think I'm likely not going to be playing an unmodded install ever again.
Also, it's funny how aggressive Curie is in combat for a supposed pacifist-leaning scientist. Literally every time we get in combat she charges on it, guns blazing, and then grabs whatever melee weapon she has and just beats the shit out of anything moving.
Seriously, you haven't even completed the game and you've already modded it? :why:
Also Eliasinfgiagn's mods, stop.
So, this new beta update includes a few things that hint towards what we'll be getting in the vault DLC and in Nuka World, along with a bunch of other new things. There's more than just keywords, but considering the sheer amount of new records, I've made a list of them here.
I'll laugh my ass off if they add actual quests to Marcy and Jun Long, given a lot of people probably downloaded mods to kill them already, I just left them to rot in Sanctuary and never returned. :v: Also that update to Starlight Drive-In sounds interesting, perhaps they will add in the ability to repair it so it can play movies like the Drive-In located in Far Harbor can?

People can play their games how they want.

I got about 3/4 of the way through the main story then started to mod my game because I was getting bored of the base gameplay and items.
I've still not finished the main story. :v:

It's probably nowhere near as interesting as any of that, it's probably just fixes to bugs listed in that quest, seeing as that's largely what the Patch quests are for.

honestly with a story so forgettable like fallout 4's it doesnt even matter if you finish it before modding it to hell and back. 99% of people who play beth games (ie skyrim and fallout 4) arent even going to bother with the story after they finish it once.
Do companions comment if you keep on shooting/attacking a dead enemy? I was shooting a particularly annoying coursers body after i killed him and Deacon said something along the lines of "you sure are thorough"

There's no point to doing vanilla only runs. What the devs intended doesn't matter, what the player wants does. Hell, some of the things they include can ruin your fun right out of the gate. For instance, I could not play Fallout 4 with the vanilla dialogue menus, and Gopher could barely stand Fallout 4 because he uses a unique keyboard for everything and some controls in the game were not adjustable without mods and were very awkward to use with his keyboard.
Besides, I'm running a heavily modified version and I can't tell you a single mod on my list that would affect the main story in any way. Hell, I can't name a mod that will affect a side quest even. Most mods are just settlement shit, visual overhauls, and new guns and armors.
I wonder why NukaWorld is DLC04 if it is the 6th DLC
Maybe the number is the order they started working on it.

Your insight is deeply appreciated in this thread. it's nice to have someone who always parses the updates and shares info on how the game works under the hood. Just thought you should know that

I'm glad these mods that let you build a more 'real' looking house are starting to come out. One thing that really bothers me about the settlement building is that pretty much the only aesthetics you're given to work with is 'wasteland shit shack'. Not that I'm an architecture nut, but I think it's not just incorrect in terms of 'people probably wouldn't be making these' on top of just not being fun to have only one variety, but it's not even correct in terms of fallout's history. A lot of people live in repaired pre-war style homes and concrete buildings, or in buildings made of adobe. Even then, I don't think a lot of the buildings were implied to be full of holes in the wall and not be waterproof.
If it's anything I want to see added, it's homes that aren't shitshacks, like adobe homes (like you see in Shady Sands). I don't want pristine pre-war homes, I want something that a group of people could genuinely build while also having some fuckin' standards.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it works.
Automatron is DLC01, Wasteland Workshop is DLC02, Far Harbor is DLC03 (though there's a few references to DLC01 and DLC02 in it, so maybe it wasn't DLC03 in the past), Nuka World is DLC04, Contraptions Workshop is DLC05, and Vault-Tec Workshop is DLC06.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that people appreciate those sorts of posts. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of interesting information I found this time around, but at least there's a few hints at what Bethesda plans on doing.

It's interesting to see that's what Bethesda meant by "add on specific icons". I thought they meant something closer to the category icons, but the little corner icons do make more sense. They also changed the format of those icons altogether too. They now use [+] in the corner when there are multiple DLCs/mods adding something to a category, and new mod items/categories now use [M]. I didn't realize that they'd already moved the Raider category too, I thought it wasn't going to be used until Nuka World. Perhaps the raider items were added to the workshop before they had really decided on Nuka World?

Why stop? her mods aren't terrible.
The best chance you have at not using them is actually reporting a bug. :godzing: :weeb:
I haven't even opened Diamond City yet and I'm modding the fuck out of the game
This thing is FO4 has a ton of problems or things that could be improved so I couldn't care less about doing what the developers intended because what they intended sucks.
[editline]1st July 2016[/editline]
Also FO/TES aren't games where you do "runs". They are open world lol.
except for Fallout 3, I don't usually go for the main quest in open world games. I find the side-stuff more thrilling and fun and all that usually.

What the developers intended for imo, is a game designed around user expansion and moddability so I mean I gotta Bethesda that. Also you're right, you can't do "runs" but you do have play-time. I'm not jumping into this debate cause I don't really care how people enjoy their game, but I can totally see the logic of "don't mod a game until you actually got to play it for what it is first"
Not necessarily, you can still do runs in them in my opinion. Mainly gimmick runs, such as being an evil person every chance you can while going through the main story, only to abandon the character after the run is completed. Or something like my Dick Valentine playthrough, I'd consider it a run, because after finishing far harbor and the main story, I'll probably remove the mods I used for it and never touch the save again.
I enjoy watching Speed runs in Beth's Gamebryo games, mostly for sequence breaking and glitches
Apparently this is the current world record for FO4.

I just picked up Fallout 4 its alright the bossfights so far eh could use alot less stealthboy spamming enemies but the one major gripe I have:WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THOUGHT THAT RADIO HOST WAS A GOOD IDEA.
Its driving me nuts the constant stream of uhs and umss and mumbling and the overall whiney tone he constantly has.
Is there a quest to replace him? Can I kill him?
20:50 what the fuck he did with the cone???? i didnt know that glitch even existed
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THOUGHT THAT RADIO HOST WAS A GOOD IDEA?
It's a shitty radio host sure, but it's a character type not seen too often (If at all).

You don't exactly replace him, but he gets different
Makes you miss the old one very quickly though imo
exploring the institute for the first time reminded me of the disappointment i had when i explored the strip the first time in new vegas
"Dead settlers can no longer be commanded or assigned to supply lines"
ok i never experienced this but this sounds hilarious
like you just look at some dead guy on the ground and be like "hey can you do something for me"
