Riiiight, because the shit you build in Minecraft is soo much more useful.
It is. And the interface is so much more simple in Minecraft. I'm not saying Fallout should be Minecraft. I'm saying it should not be Minecraft at all. I have never ever had any use for any of the building crap in this game. Just give me more quests, perks, weapons, armor, companions. Not some useless machine that does nothing.
you cant really do that stuff in vanilla minecraft either.
searched for "minecraft fully automatic farm vanilla"

there are others but this one stood out the most
I know I've plugged survival a lot but I'm pretty sure its the only way to play Fallout 4 now.
The coolest fight I've ever had was a random group of raiders. I had no Stims, but in power armour, but the last raider was legendary and had a pretty good gun.
But then two brotherhood badasses dropped from a vertibird and finished him off, blowing up the car he was hiding behind in the process.
Every fight is way more intense when there's more at stake. It feels like an action movie every single time.

I'm doing my first serious attempt at survival currently, and it does pump you up quite a bit. I've lost days over pushing too far and getting sloppy, which the main game doesn't really punish you for much. I also just took out the Corvega Plant for Tenpines, and that was pretty intense. Long range sniping, followed by carefully entering and securing the base, section by section... In regular modes, you're like a God swatting flies most of the time; in Survival, it feels like you are much more on par with each individual raider, so taking out a whole base of them makes you feel like a real badass.
After hearing both of you talk about it I feel like it's the only way despite never playing it before.
The main reason being is that when you get up to level 20+ and pick the perks that increase damage done and resist damage you are practically a god.
Even then i'm just going to be modifying it for my own choices: Longer hunger, Thirst & Sleep. Equal outgoing and incoming damage @ 2.25x. And a save button which i'll use regularly in my travels but not popping in and out of combat simply because I need the convenience but won't abuse said convenience.
So don't pick those perks
I still can't breathe underwater and I'm like 67
Ok, it's finally out!
'The Glowing Vault'
Beneath the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Vault-Tec constructed several of their ‘Societal Preservation Program’ Vault-Tec Vaults. One such vault – located to the south-west of the city of Boston, was designed to house and protect the families of personnel working at the nearby military installation Sentinel Site Prescott in the event of global thermonuclear war. Unfortunately, ‘Vault 35’ as it was designated, was located directly beneath the nuclear detonation that destroyed much of Boston and created the area now known as ‘The Glowing Sea’.
In the hundreds of years following the ‘Great War’, a cult of survivors known as the ‘Children of Atom’ discovered the remains of the Vault in the highly irradiated ruins of the Glowing Sea. Taking the destruction of this once-thought indestructible sanctuary as a demonstration of the power of their deity, the Children moved into the ruins and constructed a church to Atom, spreading the word of their beliefs to whoever would listen.
As the ‘Sole Survivor', discover the ruins and secrets of The Glowing Vault for yourself, engage with its new dwellers, and discover the unethical experiment intended to be carried out within that never came to fruition.
==============================================================
Version 1.0 of The Glowing Vault is an environment and atmosphere demo intended as a first release of the mod. Currently you can explore a lot of the total Vault area, scavenge valuable items and supplies, and get a taste of some of the story behind the vault through interactible terminals.
There are currently no NPCs in the Vault - please see 'Planned Features' below for more info.
The Vault itself is automatically marked on your map as 'Vault 35' - it is located beneath the Crater of Atom, near the bottom edge of the map. You can fast travel there immediately if wanted.
Features:
- Brand new explorable vault with a Children of Atom overlayed theme
- Custom Vault textures
- New vault suit
- Original soundtrack
Planned Features:
- Original characters and an absorbing quest centred around the Children of Atom
- More of the Vault to explore
- NPCs to fight

Will be uploading to the Nexus tomorrow as well, but please feel free to test it out and give feedback. Obviously it's still a work in progress but should be fun for a look through!
I uploaded the music I made for The Glowing Vault to my soundcloud if anyone wants to listen to it.

you did a great job <33
I personally look forward to whatever new IP Bethesda could be working on despite Fallout and Elder Scrolls being among my favorite series. Hopefully they maintain the open-world, loot-based RPG format of their predecessors.

tbh I kind of want to see them try something different.

but we already have skyrim and skyrim with guns?
tbh I kind of want to see them try something different.
I don't think Beth's willing to go through all that engine code grunt work.
Unless they get an engine license from id, something different probably isn't happening.
Man I wish Vivid Weathers wasn't such a mixed bag, and instead was nothing but the really good effects that are present in the mod. Like, there's some genuinely gorgeous moments and effects that the mod introduces through the winter and storms and clouds and other effects, like this

but then in the exact same mod there's weather effects that remove the world fog that occludes low resolution models that render in at a distance, so you get ugly shit like this

ughhhhhh
The other Weather Mod is still king, though I appreciate friendly competition

Why would bethesda need to get an engine license from id when they own id? :v:
Why would bethesda need to get an engine license from id when they own id? :v:
Because Bethesda Game Studios, the company that actually makes the games, does not own id, and Bethesda Softworks, the company that's full of unfun lawyers, does. They are two entirely separate entities that just happen to share the first word of their name.
Granted, it would be a hell of a lot easier for BGS to get a license, considering Bethsoft owns both of them, but Todd can't just go "Ok we're going to use id Tech for this next game" and have it just work.
and bethesda softworks is owned by zenimax studios iirc

Bethesda needs to make an open world gta clone in gamebryo

Hold on lemme show you that you're wrong
ZeniMax Media owns Bethesda Softworks.
Bethesda Softworks has a subsidiary called Bethesda Games Studios
ZeniMax Media also owns iD Software
Therefore Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda game studios aren't completely separate entities like you were misinformed to believe. They could easily work with their parent company ZeniMax Media to work with iD to help make the next game.
Infact, iD did help them make one of their games. You might not have heard of it, it's called Fallout 4.
So, what about it not being possible is wrong? The only incorrect thing I said was that Bethesda owns iD, when ZeniMax is the owner of iD.
Now, whether bgs will actually try to use another engine foundation, weeeellll that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Vehicles can only be used in first person, due to it actually being a hat that the player wears to simulate driving.

this makes vertibirds unstable as turning the wrong way forces the player into the ground, killing themselves

In skyrim, there was a bug where chickens can add to your bounty after witnessing a crime.
So don't worry, bethesda already has that down pat.
in fo4 if you kill a friendly without being spotted do the friendlies around you instantly become hostile? Or can you get away with it as long as no one spots you? (assuming the condition for being spotted is the detected/danger sneak status)

You can kill as much as you want without consequence as long as people don't see you do it.
I want some modding genius to create a mod that allow players to remove, edit, and add pathfinding nodes for AI so you wouldn't have to pray to God that your settlers don't suddenly run into every fucking walls just because you placed one little thing differently.
is there a no essentials mod for fo4 yet? i wouldn't mind making an alternate ending to my game where the sole survivor decided to destroy the minutemen from within.
