This was for the best, the contest was/is an absolute shitshow. You would have given all rights to the content you submitted to nVidia in the process too.
WTF, are you serious? What kind of bullshit is that? Thank god I missed that contest. From the looks of it, you'd win a 700$ video card aka a GTX 1080 Founders Edition (which I have already) so it would be worthless to me. Mod related: I may need some help on creating two things: I need to create two maps, like they are notes, but I can't model anything, and I need to create a SWF file (Pipboy animation) for the Explorer perk on the Pipboy. Can anyone help me on that regard?
Come on man I even told you.
Oh, I couldn't find the top files in the last month button so I was looking at top files in the past two weeks. My bad.
Really hope that patch fixed those issues with settlers. Also, I really, REALLY hope this mod lives up to its potential. It's a very early WIP but it already looks so damned cool.
So uhhh, what was your mod again?
I made that sniper rifle mod. I wouldn't be angry if the contestants were legitimate entries, but out of the 20 accepted, there are several that break the contest's own terms and conditions. I'm not saying that I deserved to be picked as a finalist as that is a bit presumptuous, but seeing that the selection process on behalf of nvidia clearly shows no effort to check the mods for even basic things like eligibility is a slap in the face. I can take solace in the fact that I wasn't the only one burned, there are threads on various sites like reddit and bethesda's forms where people have had similar stories - lots of sacrifice to up their game and produce quality mods only to not even be considered. I really burned out trying to make my mod, and the whole authoring process for gamebyro really soured the fun of making mods in the first place. This just rubs salt in the would. The one bright point is that my work was well received by the community.

i think this is more of a thing of them covering their bases than anything nefarious
i think this is more of a thing of them covering their bases than anything nefarious
That's usually the case, and it comes with the territory. Contract artists very commonly get burned like this in the industry. I read the terms going in and didn't mind it when I submitted; I only take exception here given the way this thing has been run/handled thus far. After what's happened, if I see my mod in nvidia promo material I will flip my shit.

That's just so they don't get sued showing it off. Steam workshop has the same thing pretty sure Nexus does as well.
almost as if its early wip
I recognize that but even when completed I can only imagine it being mostly flat land
The Vault Workshop stream is at 4PM Eastern In your timezone https://www.google.ca/#newwindow=1&q=4PM+Eastern https://www.twitch.tv/bethesda
Glad someone got this mod in for Fo4, used it alot in New Vegas. Makes you able to quicktrade without having to talk to them. It works for settlers too. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16229/?
nice now it won't seem like i'm in an awkward social skills class

This stuff happens, but that's why we do it for the love of it and not for recognition (most of us at least). I spent a week of 14 hour days on mine, it's just the way it is.
We can now play as the ultimate robosexual and I'm not talking about FunnystarRunner.
you think you're funny dontcha
I've been playing FO4 with Resurrection and some enemy spawn increasing mod, holy shit it took me like 2 real life hours to get to Diamond City from Sanctuary, my visibility is so fucked from all the foliage and there are TONS of raiders/rust dudes/synths running around. It's awesome, I get into these HUGE firefights, I need a companion mod that lets me bring more than one homie with me though, I'm getting my ass handed to me. [editline]12th July 2016[/editline]
you think you're funny dontcha
Oh god your avatar could not be more perfect for that post.
Anyone happen to know if the quick patch fixed the broken settlement AI? I have a playthrough with 270+ hrs into it and a lot of time spent building, but they're all severely broken, settlers that can't be assigned, water purifiers that don't generate water, vendors that don't generate caps, moving companions / settler to a place doesn't work, and new settlers cannot spawn all cause of that whateveritis.
Come get your custom Children of Atom Vault Security Armour! [t]http://puu.sh/pZju1/18a4700206.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/pZjzp/9c494beed1.jpg[/t]
you think you're funny dontcha
And I think you should have a seat over here. You know, Jenny Wakeman is only a few years old legally...
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16376/? OrionPax2077 is at it again!
Anyone who honestly thinks adding OP power armor to everyone makes something more "realistic" needs a reality check.
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16376/? OrionPax2077 is at it again!
That dude has an uncomfortable obsession.
Vault DLC Stream https://www.twitch.tv/bethesda Comes out the 26th
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16376/? OrionPax2077 is at it again!
Why is it called "The Return of Reilly's Rangers" when the only thing of Reilly's Ranger's is a power armour paint taken from another mod? [editline]12th July 2016[/editline]
Vault DLC Stream https://www.twitch.tv/bethesda Comes out the 26th
Why the hell do they require a facebook connection to use chat? The fuck?
Nvidia contest EULA
Oh wow, that's absolutely dreadful. Now I'm really glad I didn't get the chance to enter it. Making this mod has been strangely lots of fun and trial and error. Now I'm making her personal quest, I think I should include more things but right now, I'm learning and creating as I go. However, this engine is a real mess. Every single thing that happens is a quest. NPC talking? Quest. Vertibird flying? Quest. Follower commenting on how you picked some random trash object? QUEST. It's a combination of quests, conditions and scripting. Example: Ellen goes to Diamond City and comments about a nearby guard. I need to have a quest (EllenQuest) with a Dialogue entry that has a condition check (if the guard is near her, if she is in Diamond City) and it starts the Dialogue scene itself through scripting (starts dialogue scene if conditions met). :suicide:
So you can use any items in the vault area, not just vault pieces. So if you just wanted to build your own settlement you can. You can also just skip the quest by [sp]killing the overseer[/sp] [editline]12th July 2016[/editline] You can also use the Vault pieces outside of the vault

the vault walls/floors transfer power, though you still need external conduit to connect a wire to [editline]12th July 2016[/editline] a lot of clean versions of other objects [editline]12th July 2016[/editline] There is a computer terminal that allows you to assign settlers remotely.
So Fallout 4 is FULL of quests, it's just you ain't playing them. :v:
Worse, you ARE playing them, they're just invisible. Another example. Follower commentary is always running. ALWAYS. If you don't have a follower, the quest does nothing and keeps running. If you do have one, the quest checks who it is and acts accordingly to the conditions set on it. Dismissing followers doesn't stop that quest.
It gives a new meaning to Todd Howard's infinite quests.
So Fallout 4 has the cancerous killmove player lock that skyrim had, where you are forced to watch an enemy kill you in a boring canned animation that takes all control away from the player. I just died to a raider facing the other way at full health while trying to kill him with a machete, thus making me learn that pure melee builds in Survival difficulty are not viable early on because you can't properly juke around enemies and whale on them.
Well, the Vault DLC looks ok, better than the last two workshop DLCs by a slight margin but that's not really saying much because they really weren't all that impressive to begin with and I'm really not seeing anything here that mods haven't already covered, but I digress anyway, onto talking about the DLC, given the equipment and pieces left around I can at the very least see some sort of logical attempt at justifying building a small vault at the very least, which I suppose is fine by me, that's all I wanted really, hopefully they go into slightly more detail with the quest, though I don't think I'll be building any sort of large vault outside, that's a little bit overboard for me, I can see people utilizing some of the paneling and stuff, furniture, perhaps even getting the reactor outside and using it somehow, like a mini Vault City, but building an entire vault in the open? no thank you. Also, another thing that bothers me, I don't know why they are giving us so many high power options, we really don't have anything to DO with the power, nothing to really USE it with, other than lights and a few doodads, what's the point in having 999 power? It's completely superfluous, you'll only ever need one fusion generator at best and even then that's grossly excessive, the only reason to use the Vault reactor is because it's almost entirely wireless.
