I thought Fusion Cores were just 200-year expired Twinkies, it explains why they are not radioactive, why they run out so quickly and how you can volatilely eject them from your rear. :pudge:
I've been playing survival mode so far. I think it is really fun, for the most part. Actually have a reason to cook stuff and manage resources a little bit now is interesting, doesn't change much but it gives the game some soul now. The saving at beds is a solid idea, too. Makes you sort of move from area to area really carefully in the early game, and you have to look for a bed to save at. The Illnesses and status effects are annoying sometimes, but I guess it's done as well as bethesda could be expected to do. My favorite part by a large margin is the way damage is handled. The Metro ranger mode-esque way you do more damage and take more damage is the way it should usually be done, I think. I was sort of disappointed that dealing with crippled limbs is as easy as using stimpaks (which I still have a retarded surplus of) and not replaced by something similar to doctors bags.
Survival Mode is now my favorite way to play FO4. I have a male and female play through on normal difficulty that I haven't completed yet and it's hard to go back knowing food and sleeping essentially mean jack unless you want to cook for temporary bonuses. I find Survival more rewarding but it does get tedious. The lack of fast travel makes sense but boy does it feel like a drag some times. To complete a single quest could require going half way across the map and back which can take up to an hour in real life to actually complete, depending on the resistance you meet along the way. The illnesses and fatigue that affects my stats can be frustratingly annoying. Nothing sucks like being encumbered and having no way of getting rid of it without pretty much dropping all your remain gear and weapons. To make the survival play through a bit more practical and enjoyable, I'd recommend getting a backpack mod for extra carrying weight and a camping mod which allows you to essentially sleep and save on the go. Plenty of times I played a long play through without finding a decent bed that when I died I lost all that progress. Plus it's rather immersive too. Good fun!
there's one fatal flaw with all the fusion core videos/explanations they do not take into account the rate of diffusion for hydrogen gas. basically hydrogen is impossible to contain forever, it will eventually diffuse through your container, weakening it, and gradually lowering the content over time. Assuming it has hot pressurised gas, the rate of diffusion in those cores is going to drain them long before fallout 4
Did anyone else just get an update that outdated their script extender? As soon as I was finished modding too...

All right, even when I find something really funny, I very rarely will literally laugh out loud. This made me laugh. [editline]22nd June 2016[/editline] As a more useful post, I checked out Contraptions, and I am somewhat mystified that they didn't even bother to reskin some of the warehouse kit from barn. Concrete floors are the same. Metal stairs are the same. They couldn't stick in some variation there at all?

Lol, those build requirements are terrible, 5 steel to build a sink?
5 steel is nothing lol
6 steel however, that's fucking scandalous!
i finally bought new vegas for pc after owning it on console since release and my god it is so much fun really simple things like armor/weapon mods make it very refreshing to play even if they barely change anything
Lol, those build requirements are terrible, 5 steel to build a sink?
have you ever built a sink? it only takes 5 panels, steel being optional. see this diagram here i drew up in ms paint

Well this was a fun evening This might look like random mess of lifts and conveyors, but it's not! I have 4 builders hooked up to a conveyor that takes stuff straight out of the settlement workbench, produced goods are pooled together and sent to storage underneath while all the leftover stuff gets stored elsewhere. But the coolest part is I solved the problem with builders getting clogged with leftover components by having a second conveyor system activated separately that using vacuum hoppers sucks all the leftover stuff and feeds it back into the main conveyor! All I need to do is dump everything in the workbench and flick a switch from time to time, no need to mess with the machines at all! Aside from a few odd objects (like jangles the moon monkey) falling over and getting stuck, conveyors work flawlessly. Most problems can be fixed by adding a few extra barriers
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Eo0xDg9.jpg[/t] I was going to do a visual representation of the objects in the batch file tester, but then I realized... [t]http://i.imgur.com/Hk7zybQ.jpg[/t] How am I going to clean this up? :v:
You know what, looking at all this kind of stuff I think I might buy this workshop pack.
Well just finished the Far Harbor main quest and quite a few of the side quests without killing a living being. Had to take out some of the robots [sp]guarding the Nucleus Command Center[/sp], but otherwise avoided or snuck past the rest. Pretty neat it lets you do that.
6 steel however, that's fucking scandalous!
Scrap values and build requirements are really weird in general 16 steel for scrapping a modded Assault Rifle 10 steel for scrapping a car
Scrap values and build requirements are really weird in general 16 steel for scrapping a modded Assault Rifle 10 steel for scrapping a car
I like to imagine it's because the car is non functional and in terrible state whereas the weapon is still functioning, hell it might even be as close as it gets to being pristine since weapons are never in a damaged state.
(hate plugging myself, however this is roughly fallout related, and i figured what the hell): So I haven't really been playing much, i've been super busy on this podcast i'm a part of and my co-host managed to get ahold of a few voice actors to come onto the show and play some lame-o/fun character based games with us. This week I actually had Wes Johnson! (Silver Shroud, Mo Cronin, Takahashi, Sheogorath, Lucien Lachance, etc etc) and I figured I give you guys a heads up if you wanted to listen Here's an unedited tease he did at the end (he's in Maryland, i'm in NY so it was a phone interview :v: ) If you guys want to hear the actual show I'm gonna upload it to my iheart account once it's done in a few hours, I'll timestamp it and everything if y'all wanna listen. :downs:
Scrap values and build requirements are really weird in general 16 steel for scrapping a modded Assault Rifle 10 steel for scrapping a car
Scrap a small tree: 20 wood Scrap a giant ass fucking tree: 10 wood I don't think anyone at Bethesda was actually trying to make scrap returns cohesive
I like to imagine it's because the car is non functional and in terrible state whereas the weapon is still functioning, hell it might even be as close as it gets to being pristine since weapons are never in a damaged state.
agreed. a car left to rust for 200 years wouldn't be the best source of metal. then again, to compare the sheer size of the car to an assault rifle, the ratio is still ridiculous
agreed. a car left to rust for 200 years wouldn't be the best source of metal. then again, to compare the sheer size of the car to an assault rifle, the ratio is still ridiculous
Basically any pre-war metal surface in the Fallout verse is super-treated to resist the elements for centuries though, as evidenced by salvageable metal junk, tricycles, chairs, weapons, skyscrapers, etc. Therefore, the cars should be in the same salvageable condition.
This is probably going to be unpopular, but I honestly think that what Todd Howard meant by "it just works" was the cash cow they would turn Fallout 4 into. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game and all, but after getting the season pass, I realized that everything they've released after the base game besides Far Harbor and (to be released) Nuka World is just remade mods. The extra settlement content, contraptions (not entirely sure about these though), vault maker, etc etc were all released as mods before seeing any of the official content getting announced. Sure, it could just be a coincidence that mod makers and Bethesda both had the ideas without ever sharing the same exact concepts, but including Bethesda's management of the mod community (excluding Nexus and other independent mod sites), it just looks like they've remade/repackaged content that already existed and slapped a price tag on it. The official Bethesda feel is nice and all, but not when they're basically stealing. I'm not saying stealing in the sense that they literally took other people's content and sold it as their own, and no, I'm not at all referencing to all of the current base game content and features that were mods for previous Fallout installments.
there's one fatal flaw with all the fusion core videos/explanations they do not take into account the rate of diffusion for hydrogen gas. basically hydrogen is impossible to contain forever, it will eventually diffuse through your container, weakening it, and gradually lowering the content over time. I haven't done much with Contraptions yet, but I feel like the factories you can make with it could be so so much better if you could actually get your settlers to gather raw materials and place them into these machines for you, and, maybe better, actually utilize what could be countless weapons and clothes and the processed food without you having to unload literally everything off it. At the core, it seems like its such a good idea but it doesn't go far enough. Maybe have things like charcoal furnaces to make charcoal from wood and mines to make iron, and have settlers toss them onto a conveyor to a blast furnace that makes steel, for example. Maybe a way to sell off all those miniguns that come off the production line without physically picking up each one and taking it to a merchant, too. My point being it's a very good concept but if they had fleshed it out a lot more it could be a lot more interesting.
wasnt fo3 given shit for numerous reasons like the ending and (game ending spoilers) [sp]how broken steel retconns your death? also shit doesn't make sense like making the robot or super mutant companion go inside the radioactive chamber should be possible but isn't[/sp] i remember a youtuber saying that we should probably wait for a new vegas style game fo4. Personally I think the game is okay but I've mostly been focusing on doing my own thing rather than the story. I'm not too interested in just going around doing good deeds type of quests
I'm replaying Fallout 4 for the first time in months and spent a good chunk of time fiddling around with the character creator, as usual. I decided to make a Sole Survivor & Spouse that are just normal looking--not really attractive, not goofy hideous, not badass, but just normal looking. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Rg6VIIS.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/iwOEgUY.jpg[/thumb] How'd I do?
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Rg6VIIS.jpg[/thumb]
It don't matter, none of this matters. [editline]edit[/editline] fuck you that's totally Carl.
So after I rode the presidential metro, this happened: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/272847345202698244/A6D736DA3360EA3E3DF39CE3BCD072B383B29962/[/t] The second ed-e had no companion wheel, prompted to pickpocket him on mouseover, and later died during a battle in adams air force base. What an odd bug, never had anything like that happen before.
Remember when I found real life Nate? Now I found real life Nora in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.
