Are you running a 32-bit OS?

So 1.9 is the combat update, eh?
Yo what texture pack adds like nicer skies, falling stars etc.

Conquest is pretty good, and the 3d model addon for it is a nice cherry on top!

They are asking the community for ideas. This will be interesting..
Dinnerbone:
Minecraft 1.9 is going to be the combat update. I'm not going to tell you any more about it, but I do want to get your opinions and feedback on combat in Minecraft as it is right now - and hopefully what you think it could be like in your ideal future.
I've had a lot of anxious comments since the 1.9 theme announcement, stuff like "they're just going to ruin it and make it easy" and then "they're just going to ruin it and make it too hard", or "they're going to remove spam clicking and remove all skill" followed by "I hope to hell they remove spam clicking". Basically, lots of worried people who like fighting in Minecraft and want to continue hugging people with weaponry.
I want everybody who cares to tell me what they most like about the current combat mechanics in Minecraft, what you hate the most, what kind of combat you prefer doing and why (killing mobs to survive, team based pvp, custom maps, whatever) and ideally any/all suggestions you have for us to make it more fun.
We already have a lot of ideas, some done, some in progress and lots to review, but I still want the feedback from you guys - the ones who are actually going to use it in the end. I want to know that nobody really likes fighting with splash potions, or that melee is stupid and too quick, or whatever you have to say!
I'm hoping for something like a better block, or a slight swing-delay to add some depth to timing attacks.
Maybe holding down the mouse button to charge for a stronger attack?
I literally just got a vanilla survival server going for me and some mates (and possibly some internet randoms) if any of you guys are interested?
So is the push for official modding support dead? I haven't heard a peep about it in over a year.
Anyone know of a server like 2b2t, but with a modpack, also isn't fucking p2w bullshit.

I keep finding this shit
Shields! Quivers! New arrows! Anything to stop combat being click-spamming! All coming up in 1.9.

Woah this is still getting upated? Alright, if they release a few decent updates it might get be back into playing.
I still play Minecraft and i still think it's awsome
I was planning on grabbing a bunch of friends from uni after deadlines, hope this patch is soon! Would love to go in with new content.
There are a few neat servers in the Games In Progress section. Island Punch was probably my favourite of the lot - it got reset recently and it's lovely when a few people are on the server at once.
Apologies if this is old news; I couldn't find any mention of this, but I guess I didn't look very hard and have been pretty far out of the loop.
Anyway, Searge tweeted a "recap" of the progress on 1.9 a few days ago. I had a close look at the images and noticed that each one has a faint QR code hidden in it.
Here's the tweet and here's the image itself. The first QR code is on the right, overlapping the sword; the second is over the right side of the book; the third is in the middle of the image, on the door; the fourth is slightly right of center, over the map and the chest above it; and the fifth is in the upper-left corner of the image, easily visible against the sky.
I played around with the brightness and contrast a little, but couldn't get a clear look at any of them. Isolating them will probably be a chore because of how well they blend in.
So, I got a sudden surge of creativity and motivation so I decided to do a Draconic Evolution Energy Core, but make it look like it's from some ancient civilization. Since I already had a SMP server on, and I had most of the materials so here is the end result. I'm not sure what to add to make it more "diverse" though.
Sorry for loads of pics:

Here, somebody figure these out.

I pulled all of those hidden QR codes out of the images that Searge posted, stitched them together into a much more conveniently-sized image, and filled in the pixels that can be safely assumed. Still can't see the codes very clearly, though.
Also, they're all 21x21 codes, which means that (as I understand) each one contains a mere four letters, which of course means that the results will probably still be pretty cryptic.

Found that in one of the pictures.
You guys missed the spawn incursion on 2b2t. It would have been a good time to start if you were stuck at spawn
What's the 4th game mode that might be coming?
How did this game fall so far from grace
How did this game fall so far from grace
It didn't? The old community moved on.
They could have given it a mercy shot before leaving
Is there a server that any of you play on? I'm preferably looking for one with cool mods like industrial or tekkit or what have you. Generally friendly community potentially... I used to play EscapeCraft then came back to find that it's been transformed into a micro-managed dictatorship with a teeny tiny map.
Is there any interest for a server browser for modded servers?
I made a thing:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-tools/2446591-wip-anons-server-manager
But it doesn't look like people are interested.
basically,

So I have been working on a program to make minecraft server browsing easier.
What this will provide is a way for modded servers to get added to a server list and for clients to easily download all the mods for that server, create a profile for that server.
When joining a server, it does not touch any other profiles or mess with minecraft, you can have multiple server profiles and the mods won't conflict. Mods will only load for each servers profile, so don't worry about all the mods combining when joining multiple servers. Each is it's own instance using a modular system.
There is a bukkit plugin which you have to have on your server, and you will use the plugin to set the modlink download page, so far it only works for FastDL links, similar to GMods system, but I will add dropbox support.
For forge, just drop the forge .json file into the webhost, my program will sort it all out.
Severs will not populate the program if it is unreachable.

Hey, so I am looking for a fun minecraft mod (having not played the game in some time)...
What mods have all those fun computers and advanced tech in them as a complete package? (similar to tekkit)
It wasn't feed the beast, but something similar to it.
Any ideas?

Resonant rise?
Mindcrack?
Honestly there are literally dozens of mod packs with various tech mods on them. Just either go to the Feed the Beast site or the ATLauncher site and look through the various packs and see what suits you.
anybody got much experience with custom NPCs? trying to throw together an RPG-type thing

also, what're the best tech mods? i wanna build some machines rather than just building a sort-of empty base

this mod's kinda cool, figured out the basics of it but i don't like the skins it comes with
i don't get why so many female skins in minecraft seem to require anime eyes
