I'm actually kinda pissed I can't properly develop my VR games until I get my hands on either the Vive or Oculus Touch :(
There's a presentation in VR happening right now using leap motion

Oh, nevermind, the presenter is using "perception neuron", apparently. Looks quite natural.
leap motion is trash that rests on scam marketing

That one has sensors on the whole arms so it's bound to be really natural. This meet-up pretty fascinating to look at
Everything about leap motion right down to the name screams "our demographic is young children who are aware of VR but know nothing about it"

At least that's how it seems to me. If there's any VR company that fails I hope its them.

gives opportunity for multiplayer in the same room too.
Man, HTC Vive and similar VR tech are going to be the center point of the local gaming convention. Shame that heading out there would be a bitch; I got exams stacked up all around it.
For those who missed it yesterday, I think this is worth a watch/listen

Just ordered my GearVR and a controller for my phone, and I start my new job on Monday, so hopefully I'll have cash for the Rift/Vive when those come out. VR Hype!

fkin sick. tell us how it is ok?

Definitely. I'm a pretty extensive Cardboard using peasant, so I can't really provide any comparisons to things like the DK2 or DK1, but I can definitely give a general overview of it, and I'll definitely post my experience with it. It should be here around next weekend.
I keep seeing people on campus wearing Google Glass, but I've never seen anyone with a VR headset. You'd think at least someone in the computer department would own one.

They wouldn't exactly walk around with it

I've never actually seen anyone with Google glass, I'd love to try it.

I tried it once, because I ran some guy down as he walked past. It's pretty cool, but I don't think it's worth the price tag. I can't wait until they figure out a consumer version that doesn't attract the immediate ire of the media, though.

What was the laser display like? I feel like it would just feel so futuristic and cool to use, even if the actual usefulness wasn't that great :v:

I cant wait to see what kind of shit the media cooks up once the Rift and Vive get going.
"Is the Oculus Rift giving your children eyeball cancer? More at 11."

to be fair people are already really iffy about oculus because it's a screen just in front of your eyes. Even someone here came to the thread to ask if it hurt/strained and it took a good page to fully express that it's not an issue
Google glass was pretty ok. The display part was the coolest thing about it

Where did you try one? And why did you not tell me? Cmon scrub.
when i was aiding my old 5th grade teacher he brought in a guest speaker to talk about google glass and i got to try it

all the more reason for the media to jump on it, really
nothing like a little confirmation bias to sell a story
if you guys have a DK2 you have gotta try Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes - great example of a VR game done right, the swivel chair under you even turns at the same time as your own, which my girlfriend found incredible
Even if you don't have a DK2 you should play it anyway. One of the most fun experiences ever.
i just noticed the demo scene isnt working, i presume its either the blops or fo4 driver because thats the only thing i updated

I'm working with several devices right now at work that use lenses that reflect a projector into your eyes and they're honestly pretty annoying. They're cool to play with but they'd have to be ridiculously over engineered to not bother me during frequent use.
Also we got our positioning system up today and boy is it weird finally having headtracking with augmented reality. Discrepancies with the real world/lag are particularly uncomfortable if not handled well

It doesn't have a laser display. It projects onto an etched glass prism, so it's basically just a translucent screen.
Worked pretty well, though, for the few minutes I got to try it.
