at LEAST a 100 deg top FOV for something like this would be best, maybe higher, if not 120
There's a really sneaky paper that not many people have heard about on the topic of AR, and the team includes people from nvidia, microsoft, and occulus. Paper and youtube demo can be found here: http://pinlights.info/ Part of me wants to dream that the dream team of N, M & O are going to be working together to make some kind of AR headset but it's pretty far fetched, I guess.
Looks like they realized that a 30×17.5 degree FoV is actually bad and only switching tech will help.
I'm still laughing about this, I'm reminded again of the zeiss headset I was testing where the guy was talking it up as an alternative to oculus, but it was like looking at my 27" monitor from 7+ feet away
Why does it render the same image twice? Wouldn't one time be enough?
Why does it render the same image twice? Wouldn't one time be enough?
In general with VR? No. or am i completely lost here in context? :v:

It might be disorienting to see exactly the same thing through both eyes when you're otherwise tricking your brain into thinking you're experiencing a 3D environment with motion, but this is probably something to actively try out.

[editline]3rd December 2015[/editline] Because those things with 2 images where you're supposed to see a '3D' image never worked on me.

Even if you're bad at the raw depth part, your brain is still processing two separate images and may get confused/disoriented if, for instance, you move your head side to side with an object just a few inches from your face, and while you can guess through this passive perception the depth at which it's at, your eyes are aiming at a point way off in space instead of close up, and that misalignment in data could result in your brain assuming something's wrong, defaulting into nausea/motion sickness mode that's actually the fun/weird thing with Motion or VR sickness, is your body is reacting to these misalignments in the same way it does if you've been poisoned. I guess it's reacting under the assumption toxins are nulling some sensory abilities

6 hours and 40 minutes left till TGA. The hype is hypening
Shame it's at a time that's totally uncaring for anyone that isn't American :/
Shame it's at a time that's totally uncaring for anyone that isn't American :/
If by "American" you mean the entire continents of south and north america, but really, there's not so much you can do about it. If you're employed, you likely cannot watch until after 5pm and afaik the most western time zone (the last to hit 5pm in NA) is PST. That means that anyone GMT and onwards will be 1AM or later, so the best they could really do if they want to include people that have jobs and can't watch a conference at work would be make it later and maybe have people in europe watch it at 4/5 am or something.
Shame it's at a time that's totally uncaring for anyone that isn't American :/
It's almost like it's IN America! [editline]3rd December 2015[/editline] Anyway, check this out:

As for why it's not on a weekend, without knowing what they're going to say it's hard to speculate
because booking an event hall in LA is expensive in the first place. Hosting after business hours on a later weekday was probably a choice of budget, not only for sake of building the facility throughout a few weekdays prior, but for the sake of attendees. After normal business hours would allow a lot of younger people to attend and stay the full time, given they're either in school, or have day jobs in retail or service with inflexible schedules (often worse through weekends due to having school during the workweek) Australia's probably pretty happy in the least. I wonder if Sony's stake in it all could mean japan has more interest in it as well
You know what, Beacon? Shit happens, get over it. We live in a world with time zones, it's impossible to accommodate everyone. It's going to be recorded, though, so just watch it on your own time.
its all your fault anyway, if you crumpet-eating, tea-swigging, britbong tossers hadn't invented time zones this wouldn't be a problem in the first place now would it????? REAP WHAT YOU SOW

Why is a band playing at a gaming event? I mean I know this isn't the first time it's happened but it's always confusing and the chat is just full of people going "what why". Announcement is in 30mins right?

What I'm mad about though is the guy during the pre-show saying JIF [editline]j[/editline] the singer looks 14
palmer is spamming "no" to all the guesses about what the game would be on reddit, 20 minutes before he's going to reveal it
I actually really like CHVRCHES. They're a fantastic band, and they could use the exposure.
thank you, random youtuber I don't recognize but won the award also as an artist CHV is fine but that still felt out of place with the combination of just, being a mini concert in a gaming award show [editline]e[/editline] ok this guy took the cake
dragonforce...
I feel so bad for the europeans who stayed up to wait for that announcement :v:
so oculus' killer app is... fucking rock band
