palmer is a professional troll

tbh though by the time you buy and ship the lenses you've pretty much paid the same amount as the cardboard itself so you may as well get the whole shebang:

You've got a good point there. Might as well save myself some hassle and just buy one. Hopefully this'll tide me over till CV1 comes out.
It absolutely won't, they just make the itch worse.
Gear VR is getting its own motion controller, "Rink"

Seems to be tracked by an additional small box mounted on top of the Gear VR.

That seems pointless to me, if you want peripherals and more accurate tracking just get the Rift or Vive.
Yeah I really don't get the phone vr fad
guy in the store said it - "you can have it with you, e.g. on the train, having a full sized cinema with you on the go"
Yeah I really don't get the phone vr fad
I can see it being pretty cool for escaping reality and just sitting in a movie theatre watching youtube videos and shit, even without headtracking.
Update on Touch ship date:
https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/update-on-oculus-touch-ship-date/
Apparently Touch preorders no longer launch with the Rift's.
[editline]31st December 2015[/editline]
Appears the PHP cronjob I set to alert me of any changes to the Oculus site is working too. :v:

At least they told us now instead of 2 weeks before its original launch date.
Touch in q3/4? Well fucking fuck. I suppose rift needed its share of delays as well.
Better get used to the controller

cockpit sim games and 3rd person stuff will be unaffected though, so its not that bad.
stuff keeps happening that keeps throwing me between leaning more towards vive or rift
damn you VR development

God fucking damnit, it's like they don't want my money or something.
I'm actually really curious to see what their reasoning for the delay is. From the reviews, it seems that Touch was almost ready to ship, and in great form. Hm.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the still unknown vive "breakthrough".
I wonder if it has anything to do with the still unknown vive "breakthrough".
I don't think so. I am really doubting the Vive's 'breakthrough' is anything but marketing speech. HTC is very well known for overpromising/embellishing and then having whatever actually comes out be incredibly mediocre.
With that said, however, I would be super pumped if the Vive's 'breakthrough' was actually a breakthrough and gave us something incredibly cool.

Preorders confirmed next week?
Well ces is next week so
Well ces is next week so
Yeah, but given Oculus' insistence that 'specific dates/events don't matter' (despite ignoring it in the past), as well as a relative quiet, I figured it's still probably the best evidence we have. Hopefully CES is full of some awesome VR news from all sides. Apparently SCE has a pretty giant booth this year.
it makes total sense to announce at CES from all standpoints
palmer said that if the dates align enough they will use events to announce stuff, because why not
i can't wait for 3DHead
I heard the 3DHead is amping up the competition in 2016 by bringing their own hand tracking motion controllers.

Old Touch vs new Touch. I'm digging the new design, looks more clean and sleek. Can't wait for Q2 to try th-FUCK.

I've waited 2+ years, I can wait another week or so.
That's what I keep telling myself.

Moving from Q2 to Q3-4 is more than a few weeks though :v:
[editline]31st December 2015[/editline]
but yeah I agree, really. I'd rather wait a little extra while and have the platform be sucessful than to have a rushed buggy launch that gives its detractors more ammunition and puts people who are on the fence off of it.
This Palmer guy knew about the Touch delay from the beginning. What a cheeky cunt.

Also, happy new year from Tortillaland :toot:

Oh wow. Never realized it looks like you're flipping everybody off when you're playing with the Touch controllers. That's hilarious.

Oh...
But... Can I flip people off with the touch controllers? Because that's going to be a major point of consideration.
happy new year everyone it's technically Q1 preorders any moment now I'm sure of it
