these next 2 years are going to be too much for hype levels
Joe Ludwig's (Valve) presentation at SVVR on OpenVR
Woah... ...I thought I had hairworks turned off. Really pleased to see the Rift taking shape.

I'm betting they're going to have a press-only event (the one in that image) before E3, and will let the public get their hands on it at E3.

fuck me, had me thinking that was a release day for a moment
I'm betting they're going to have a press-only event (the one in that image) before E3, and will let the public get their hands on it at E3.
Well, expect some good reviews from engadget/tested/wired etc
What is this? Where is it from? Also Day/Month/Year or Month/Day/Year?
the location is US so month/day

Hot Pockets made an advertisement that uses VR, it's not actually bad. http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7QC5/hot-pockets-snack-bites-bite-hunger-back

I learned my lessons with the zeiss cinemizer
http://www.fromquarkstoquasars.com/virtual-reality-suit-to-be-on-the-market-this-year/ Interesting.
If you’re wearing the Tesla Suit, electrical impulses will handle the rest of the stimulation. Sensations are made possible by more electrical nodes embedded in the jumpsuit’s textile. The shocks can apply heat and electricity that can be soothing or intense. Sensations could electrically imitate the force of being punched in the chest or the tingle of tropical water (as an aside, the name seems fitting, given the reliance on controlled electric shocks and Nikola Tesla’s interest in electricity).
But way ahead of its time. Nobody is going to use this thing, VR hasn't even taken off yet. There's no market for it. In ten years maybe.

I wouldn't say ten. Maybe five. I don't doubt there'll be early adopters too.
I guess it'll also depend on the price.
I guess it'll also depend on the price.
Small company and an extremely niche product (for now), I wouldn't be surprised if the suit currently cost $5-10k.
Most importantly, there is no game for it.
Has anyone seen Fove? (Not sure if posted already.) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fove/fove-the-worlds-first-eye-tracking-virtual-reality?utm_source=faceit It seems everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now...
eyetracking sounds like a solid contribution if it's sharp enough. any amount of lag or misalignment to where you're actually looking could be incredibly disorienting, really needs to be secured to your head with zero wiggleroom
I swear dai, your avatars man .... [editline]20th May 2015[/editline] I came in here for something, and then i see that thing and it threw me off completely ... Can't remember what i was supposed to write. Thank god my Adblock works THIS time.
i think it's definitely a solid second-generation feature, but i feel like its definitely not solidly here yet.
and definitely isn't as important as the other features, which this startup does not have the funds to perfect the way oculus and valve are
So there's a VR game jam starting tomorrow and going over the weekend in Copenhagen in my university, I'm hoping to see some cool shit come out of it.
I think Chet Faliszek is going to be there. But don't know if the Vive will be there either.
I think Chet Faliszek is going to be there. And there's a talk by some guy from Sony called "Beyond Immersion – Designing for Project Morpheus" which sounds pretty interesting.
