They mentioned at the beginning that the Constellation system would work with other objects as well
So keep your hats on and wait until they talk about that soon
It was pretty stupid to first show MS games on there though. Should have been a side-note after real VR games.
Vive's dual separated hand tracking controllers are WAY better than keeping your wrists together around a fucking xbox controller.
Valve made Lighthouse tracking free for other companies to use, with CHEAP sensors, and oculus appears to be ignoring that? Because ~~~XBOX~~~???
This RUINS game compatibility. This is terrible news.
Hopefully they'll surprise us with better tracking input news later...
There's some stuff for DK2 out that lets you sit in a theater and watch whatever you can see on your desktop. It's the virtual desktop thing.
I suppose it doesn't matter anyway, I don't own an Xbox One.
Also, this guy keeps calling Eve Valkyrie "Evil Kitty" and it's cracking me up.

I mean, this is the first release. I'm sure they will continue to innovate and invent as they have a competition with things like the Vive.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to sound rude. I agree that it'd be cool to play Xbone on a big screen like that, I just thought you'd be interested in the program since you were excited. Here it is:

To be fair, almost all VR games are being build around controllers. It makes sense to include one. And the Xbox controller works out of the box with Windows 10.

Oculus hasn't made the best decisions since the whole Facebook thing. But they didn't make the best decisions before either.
Oculus is not known for good decisions, they're known for getting things done. That's usually the nature of these forerunners.
I won't worry about it too much. I'd imagine the Lighthouse input system is compatible, even if it doesn't ship with the Rift. We'll probably be able to buy it separately of the Vive as well.
I'm fucking crying
Eve Valkyrie trailer.
Now a game called Chronos, seems to be a third person action game.

there are advantages to current gamepads, but for a shorter use experience the wands have advantages. Think trade offs, however the track pad on valve controllers might be better walking around in VR.
Evil Kitty looks pretty interesting. We'll have to see how much better it is than Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous for dogfighting, though.
Not sold on the third-person action shenanigans they're pulling now, though.
Also, Insomniac is here now.
absolutely no actual VR footage on that Chronos announcement, not promising
Insomniac Games announces Edge of Nowhere, a VR exclusive.
Also third person.

Its important that they get this right now though. I get the sense that developers still aren't totally sold on VR, and if there are going to be a whole bunch of different standards and input methods it could seriously compromise VR's ability to take off.
edge of nowhere looks like a neat game, their focus on third person games is really interesting
I must say that these games all look horrendously boring apart from Valkyrie

having hand tracking is worth anything

this is my thought

they're all, including valkyrie, doing a shit job of showing off VR
edge of nowhere has a neat premise and visual style

That's because VR streaming isn't a thing yet. :v:
VR games are even harder to judge from trailer footage then normal games already were.
4A Games on that list, VR MEtro plzzzzzz
why are they going with third person games
doesn't that totally miss the point of the immersive-ness of VR?

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sold on the Vive wands yet either. They're a good idea I think, but I'm not really sure what to make of them at this point.
I think the Xbox pad is safe, because that's what we're already doing, and it's what people are used to. I remember the Razer Hydra, and the only thing worse than shipping an Xbox pad would be going all in on motion controls without widespread developer support.

Ever tried Blaze Rush on Steam in VR? To me it showed that good VR integration (keyword: good) can make any game better.
Square Enix as a partnered developer, interesting

you don't really get the same issues with camera movement that you get in first person

guess we'll see VR games at squenix's conference
Please, tell me there's a VR mode for Unity, so I can build worlds inside the Rift. That's all I want.
