indie game funding of 10 million bucks, that's nice
I'm really concerned that many games will be exclusive to only one headset, for the sake of, or due to input differences. It's really going to hurt developers and gamers alike
Ever tried Blaze Rush on Steam in VR? To me it showed that good VR integration (keyword: good) can make any game better.
Ive never tried anything not-first person in VR, actually. How exactly does it work for third person games?
Please, tell me there's a VR mode for Unity, so I can build worlds inside the Rift. That's all I want.
Uh, Unity 5.1 allows you to use VR directly when testing your game. You can technically edit your world while playing so yeah, you can already scale objects while in VR (just have to copy-paste changes when back in edit mode).
oculus home is the VR store platform
Oculus Home announced, first thing that opens in the Rift when you put it on.
Ouch, they really aren't liking steam

All the headsets use roughly the same display systems, and that's really what matters. Inputs are reduced to APIs, and while there may be hardware exclusives for different tracking systems, it's really unlikely that the majority of games will be platform exclusive. It'd be remarkably lazy of developers to only support one platform, when we know the APIs for all platforms are available for free.

The market will already be so small considering the price and need for secondary hardware; to alienate other devices really just makes your opportunity for growth harder, and I'm pretty bummed. I want Vive more at the moment, but I also want all the games I can.
Is this a Steve Jobs "One More Thing?" About input?
Neat.
OK, INPUT ANNOUNCEMENT BY PALMER.
Oh god
YES PALMER COME ON ANNOUNCE INPUT
[editline]11th June 2015[/editline]

THOSE FLIP FLOPS
it's fucking hand tracked input! oculus touch!
Oh, neat. I actually really like the way they look. A lot less cumbersome than the Vive stuff.
Some of you fuckers really jumped the gun, huh? :v:
v... vive wands p.much
There's Carbon!
Wii Nunchucks with sensors. I love it.
yes palmer, yes!
Oculus touch controllers. Tracked controllers.
holy shit, it's a gamepad split in half, one in each hand, with full tracking
dual analogue sticks, it's better than valve's controllers!
Oh god what can it all dooooooo
holy shit, it's a gamepad split in half, one in each hand, with full tracking

It's SMALLER than Valve's wands. That's important in and of itself, because the wands are super bulky. These are very sleek, very svelte. I love them.

valve's controller is basically a steam controller split in half though
why the fuck did they not open with this?!
Good outfit this guys got going.

Note that Valve's stuff is VERY much dev kit design. Oculus Touch is much closer to a consumer product.
why the fuck did they not open with this?!
Because they're taking a page from Steve Jobs' playbook for perfect presentations. It's all about managing excitement. That's why the "one more thing" is so powerful.
why the fuck did they not open with this?!
Because you don't blow your load too early.
