I feel like hand tracking and sitting at a desk just dont mix. It'd be like trying to play Wii sports sitting at your desk, but worse because you cant actually see the desk. I feel like I'd be smashing my hands into stuff all the time.
I have a sofa. What I don't have is more than four feet of space around anything in my room, or a spare room that I can clear out.
Let's be realistic: the vast majority of VR games that are in development are being made for controllers. Including a Xbox controller by default is a bit of a no-brainer when it comes to making this system accessible. The Oculus Touch controllers, as well as the whole Vive system, are just another hurdle for the average consumer that is better to include as an option than as a requirement. Those systems are targeted at us, the hardcore crowd.
Oculus pretty much fucked over the Vive's motion controllers so hard Simple finger/gesture tracking, way smaller and lighter, haptic feedback
I dunno about that, the vive controllers are still developer versions (and should have haptic feedback if they use the steam controller's trackpads). And lighthouse vs a camera solution means they should have tracking that's more precise and over a much larger area. I wouldn't write them off yet. The hand gesture recognition is a nice feature though

At the end of the day, whilst Valve's tech might be more interesting and innovative, Oculus really seem to be gearing they're tech towards something you'll want and be able to use whenever and wherever.

Instead of your TV, use a Virtual TV!
like someone said earlier, it's a neat premise, especially if you've got a crappy TV, people who are always on the TV and you don't have the best time to play, or otherwise would like to isolate yourself and have a big setup. It's a solid premise if you think of it as a solution instead of a "hey you should totally do this instead of the real world equivalent!" like if I could sell my TV and use my oculus as a private theater, I'd do it. My only gripe is that the theater room looks really subpar
10 million dollars to independent developers?! Sounds sweet.

Instead of your TV, use a Virtual TV!
In a weird way, it makes sense. Say you're living on your own, in a tiny apartment, and you've got a 20" TV. Now, slip on an Oculus Rift, and you've got your own personal home theater to play games and watch movies in. That's actually a really good idea, and it's something that's hovered around VR since we first saw the Rift. Personally, I've got a 50" plasma, so I probably won't take advantage of the virtual cinema features for the Xbox One, but it's neat that they're there. If I can put on a Rift and be instantly transported to a proper cinema, then why would I go to an actual cinema? Basically, the Rift becomes a TV of any size. That's amazing, probably one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. And that's not even scratching the surface of VR.

when the fuck is the re-broadcast starting?

Yeah, if the touch controllers shipped with it and perhaps had the vives track pads, I probably would have bought the CV1. I'm still thinking I'll buy the Vive though, just for the controllers.
Yeah, if the touch controllers shipped with it and perhaps had the vives track pads, I probably would have bought the CV1. I'm still thinking I'll buy the Vive though, just for the controllers.
cv1+controllers will cost less than the vive, so why?
cv1+controllers will cost less than the vive, so why?
Because people are incapable of making the decision to not make decisions. I say we all wait until all of these things are on the market, then decide which one we're going to buy.
cv1+controllers will cost less than the vive, so why?
How do you know this?
How do you know this?
Shhhhh. He's bitches. He knows things, and you really, really, really don't want to go down that road. We've had a good two days, let's not reset the incident counter.
How do you know this?
Has it not been made obvious that the vive is the expensive option meant to cost more?
yeah, I'm totally getting CV1 over the Vive now if the Touch controllers come with it
I just have to say that i loved reading your recent posts in this thread. First you're hyped Then you get disappointed and cope with it with laughter Then you get depressed Then you get hopeful Then you get hyped again Its like when i broke up with my ex

20 minutes of commentary on something they have never used.
Because nobody's used it yet. They can talk 20 minutes (and another hour) about it because they know their shit.
20 minutes of commentary on something they have never used.
oh so I guess no ones allowed to talk about something unless they've used it guess this threads done guys. Better close up all talk except for rift dev kits. There's no point in talking unless you've used it.
