My point is at least wait until e3 when you actually get to try it out. I mean it's ;ess than a week, you can wait that long to put out a more thorough fucking analysis of it.
Jeez you guys are salty.
So, let me get this right... We're saying making a video on what they think about the controller is bad because they haven't tried it...
What the fuck have we been doing all day? I swear, sometimes you people need a V8.

1:30, I'm not sure if the Rift got so much smaller, or Luckey's head got so much bigger ?

yeah but I mean, if they don't post a video immediately they'll get bagged by their noisey fans to post a video immediately
it's still very informative. They are collecting all the information and theories they can access and putting it in one informative video before finally using it. It told me a decent amount.
if people didn't discuss the unused in videos like tested does, this thread wouldn't have much to talk about.

I'm not saying they can't discuss it. Seriously.
I'm saying they jumped the gun by a few days.

I guess I'm just being a massive shitlord
still, they will be making another anyways once it's out, so at least they have the 20 minute intro to all the info down. Once the next videos out hopefully it'll be a solid 10 minute video that gets to the point.
if they explain everything again I'm going to cry. I just want to know what's in it!
Is there somewhere I can watch the conference? I missed it.
What is the field of view of the consumer Rift?
"We're not announcing the exact spec here today, but it's very wide. It's no less than anything you've seen before."
The widest FoV out of all the headsets so far.

interesting.

Indeed. Really want to know the specs of their new tracking solution. The tracking volume, camera FOV, etc.
Why does Oculus VR believe in optical sensors for the Oculus Rift?
Iribe: "We're really big believers in optical tracking, in camera sensors. That is the bet that we're making. And that's the future of sensor tracking. If you look at things like the Kinect, or any of these different kinds of infrared structured light sensors, or any of the stereo camera sensors, they're all based on cameras. And cameras continue to get better."
If you want to see your full body in the game, if you want to see your fingers and your fingernails ... not this generation, but, eventually, if you want to see all of that, that's going to be done with camera sensors. That's not going to be done with any other kind of sensor. That's an optical sensor, and that's the investment we're making."
You don't really have me convinced there Brendan... as far as I can see, the Lighthouse system has some big advantages over optical tracking. Especially when it comes to tracking volume, low perf cost, ease of adding more devices to the system, and so on.

yeah

I played with valves tracking last month where the had the beacon and the testing sensor, I was puzzled for a few seconds why I was getting an accurate reading when I moved it away from the beacon. I was told that the paper on the table was reflecting what the beam was broadcasting so it picked up an accurate position.
A little tidbit which I would like to know, what kind of cable is the rift using on the headset?

they're really tracking the dude way up on the balcony?
that's the tits
no, it's misleading
I think the clearly-drawn orange box represents the limits of the tracking area.
I think the clearly-drawn orange box represents the limits of the tracking area.
but 'every controller is still being tracked' implies that the one he's holding is being tracked as well, despite being outside the boundary
Each of the lighthouses have a 120 degree horizontal and vertical range of projection (similar to the fov of a GoPro set to wide with a 4:3 aspect ratio) so they can actually see beyond the orange square. Every location that you see the controllers in the image is tracking.
There's no vindication in online discussions of game hardware. You might be taking this too seriously.
http://techraptor.net/content/oculus-to-disallow-adult-entertainment-on-oculus-store
Less than a month ago, Palmer Luckey announced that sexual content would not be blocked on the Oculus Rift. However today, Business Insider ran an article where a representative from Oculus clarified their position on adult entertainment.
According to this article, the Facebook owned company will be blocking pornographic apps from being put onto their app store. The Rift will being released during financial quarter one of next year with an app store similar to Apple’s store. The Oculus store will be a storefront where approved apps will be put on sale. The storefront will be vetted and curated internally based on their terms of service, possibly even more so than the Apple Store or Google Play. The representative from Oculus responded to questions about adult entertainment by saying “Oculus only distributes developer content that meets their terms of service, which forbid pornographic content from being a part of the Oculus Store.”
To clarify this statement, this means that any content that is pornographic will not make it onto the Rift’s app storefront because it violates their ToS. This does not mean that pornography is completely banned on the Oculus Rift. What is important to stress is that this app store is similar to stores that are found on mobile phones, which also block pornographic material. Presumably, the Rift will allow users to go outside of the app store and access the internet, so third party apps and websites will probably be fairly easily accessed.
can have adult content on rift just not in the store.
that dedicated oculus app store is going to fail, why did they even do that
I just wanna buy games on steam where I have the rest of my games
that dedicated oculus app store is going to fail, why did they even do that
They can ensure that there are no half assed apps on it that make people sick; users can immediately find quality apps without any hassle. I think that's more the point than financial competition with other stores.
