What's a good thing to show someone just how immersive VR can be? Some of my mates don't see why they'd want to play with a VR headset instead of a regular monitor.
Vox Machinae was the VR game that broke me and my jaded cynicism.
If you have a wheel show em a racing game.
I do have a wheel and they have watched me play games like Assetto Corsa a couple of times.
I do have a wheel and they have watched me play games like Assetto Corsa a couple of times.
Watching somebody play is NOT going to convince anybody.
Watching somebody play is NOT going to convince anybody.
Well I got one of them to drive a bit in AC, was a sad spectacle. He's not really one to care about cars or car games either. Doesn't even have a bloody license either, so nothing to compare the game experience too. Oh and to clarify, I haven't got a DK2. When I get a CV1 I will make sure to sit people on my chair and make them give it a go as much as possible.

I got my brothers to play Elite: Dangerous on DK2. You don't need anything really fancy to impress someone unless they play video games anyways.
From the limited amount of knowledge I have of your friends, based on what you've posted here, they sound like dicks. You can't convince them if they don't want to be convinced. Just wait until CV1's out, and then stick it on their heads.
teach them how to play a flight sim, without VR or headtracking
VR is a mockery on sight and a religion on contact.

I think their skepticism stems from lack of research and therefore lack of knowledge about the technology, leading them to believe it's a gimmick like 3D glasses for movies.
if you go into things dead set on it being terrible you're going to focus on the terrible things. Confirmation bias is a jerk so like others are saying, just let them figure it out in a final model. I really need to get back on top of finding new demos
Morpheus VR game dump incoming [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeSI2aj37MY[/hd]
That looks amazing. This got me thinking, would cross-platform multiplayer be more favorable since the use of VR controllers across all platforms would even the playing field?
I let my 8 year old nephew play Live for Speed with the DK2 and Logitech G27 and I got him to figure out how to use a manual gearbox. I was so proud.

Seems people were a bit quick to judge StarVR.
StarVR sounds real interesting, can't wait to hear more about it. I hope Tested get a chance to try it out.
Vuzix is still trying to stay relevant. http://vuzix.com/V720/
IWear 720 was designed to be an entertainment device not just for VR gaming but it is also compatible with most standard games and video content available today. That said, it also makes a great VR system. High resolution, lack of screen-door video effect, and integrated tracking all make IWear 720 great for VR. And while it is not designed to provide a 90+ degree immersive view, the 57 degrees that it does provides looks outstanding with as much as 4 times the pixel density of competing solutions.
Similar to DK2 resolution (1280x720 per eye @60fps, DK2 is 1080x960), 57 degree FoV now only for $499.99! It makes for a great VR system.
@ID_R_McGregor is collecting and commenting on Oculus related tweets from E3. Lots of interesting tidbits about CV1. Pretty good tracking volume, support for multiple cameras, FOV around 110 degrees (although I still don't know if people talk about horizontal or diagonal FOV in this case).
Wow, StarVR actually sounds competent. If they can bring it up to 90hz, it'll be a definite competitor. I'll probably end up with an Oculus, though, since they're the only high-end set that's aiming for affordability.

Im curious, when your head moves in a VR headset iv noticed the Image looks shaky. I assume this is when you move your head but im curious, does your brain compensate for the shaking and headbob when your wearing the VR headset or not?
Just got a leap motion at the lab i'm working on. It fucking sucks, specially when i mount it in the Oculus. :( I was so hyped.

And not like, with shitty 3D models, actual VR hentai galleries and VR doujins. Truly we live in a golden era.
