the leap motion is awful
you notice that he had to keep the hands in very particular plain poses, or use only a single finger extended for it to work properly
don't buy it, it is a spazz simulator
it was actually kind of unnerving to see those robot hands behave like they had Parkinson's

A+ motion tracking
If any of you guys have subnautica you can enable oculus support any time in game by pressing f2
just found this out by accident don't know if this is already well known. It never said anything about oculus support on the steam page.
They got two DK2s at Uni on friday.
Resolution is definitely too low. red looks awful.
HL2 was the only thing that made me feel really sick.
Noped out of dreadhalls after about 30 seconds.
is the subnautica support any good
Right now it's good for exploring the (beautiful) world and maybe gathering some things. The inventory menu and some text parts of the hud dont work quite right in the rift yet.
Basically if you're gonna use rift with it right now put it on freedom mode (dont have to worry about hunger and thirst) and treat it like a rift experience and explore the deep. That's all you can really get out of it currently in the rift, because the menus are less than functioning lol
set yourself up with a flashlight first though for night time (just takes batteries [made from carbon, which is made from the pretty pink mushrooms all over the place) and glass [sand]). It's a zen like experience with brief moments of pure terror when something cuddly looking ends up having razor sharp teeth and is darting for your face.
Also you can see your body when swimming around which is cool.

Was really really good when I tried it, the deep ocean is fucking scary.

Did you check if the lenses were right for you?
Did you check if the lenses were right for you?
I was just using the A lenses which came installed. I thought the B lenses were for nearsighted people, my vision is fine.
and I did the IPD calibration thing.

You got it the other way around I believe.
No, he's right. A is for regular eyesight and B is for nearsightedness. I've got moderate myopia around -5 diopters and have to use B lenses.
I see perfectly fine and the B lenses were way better.

i remember people posting about the B working better for most people they demonstrated it to, which was also the case when i was showing mine and my drive labels off

I have good eyesight and b lenses helped me be less sick with the dk1
I have 19/20 vision last I had it checked, and B lenses were best for me.
B were definitely best for me too.
what did you guys set the lens distance dial thing to?
made a friend who has a gearvr and dk2 the other day!
he said he'd let me try out the gearvr this week, i'm pretty hype
what did you guys set the lens distance dial thing to?
most compact; most "in" in the oculus config
most compact; most "in" in the oculus config
if I have them all the way in I can't even wear it, how far back are your eyes in your skull holy shit man

Really? Did you grow up on the bottom of the ocean or something
Really? Did you grow up on the bottom of the ocean or something
it's just extremely uncomfortable, the lenses press up against my eyebrows and i can feel my eyelashes brushing against the lenses and after awhile i'm just like "yeah enough of that".
plus when it's all the way in I can't peek through the nose gap and drink my beer through a straw
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
wait i'm confused, i keep the dials turned all the way towards me when i'm using them (which pushes the screen and lenses further from your head). it sounded to me like the guy i was quoting earlier had the dials all the way OUT, which pushes the hmd and lenses really close to your face.
To avoid confusion. have you got the right dial turned anti-clockwise or clockwise?
anti-clockwise
anti-clockwise
Thats what I had, I moved it in to test but didnt notice any FOV change and it felt uncomfortable so I moved it out again.

there is nothing confusing about "most compact"
the leap motion is completely useless outside of VR, and great until you realize that things that are a billion times better are being made
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
I had fun using it in dead island
was it worth the money in fun?
no, not at all
not nearly a big enough fov, not nearly accurate enough, even with the v2 update which HUGELY improved it it just isn't enough
I'm about two or three notches in from 'most compact' - any closer and my eyelashes brush against the lenses and my nose gets crushed by the nose bridge thing.
A pretty straightforward hint at the CV1 release date by Oculus Story Studio's Max Planck
http://uploadvr.com/max-planck-from-oculus-shares-details-about-internal-prototype-and-oculus-story-studio-hints-at-consumer-release-date/
I was like, wow, DK2, this is cool! Maybe this is what I was looking for. And then I went to Oculus, and saw their internal prototype, the thing that is the target that they’re shooting for. So they had a prototype that blew everything out of the water, and Brendon has talked about this. They’re hoping to create a 300, 400 dollar version that delivers that experience. Plus, May is getting close.
I still think it has a little bit of room to go.
Reveal at GDC in March with preorders opening in May?
I know it probably isn't much at the moment, but assuming I could get an Occulus Rift, should I? What all games can I get for it?

Don't get it yet! The CV1 is coming in a few months most likely.
The launch titles are not all known yet, but we're expecting AAA title reveals either at the upcoming GDC or E3.
