Depends on what screen tech they're using. With OLED, they could have a dark theme that would give you FOUR minutes of battery life!
[t]http://differentdream.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/The-Future.jpg[/t] [editline]2nd September 2015[/editline]
Sony just announced a phone with an 800ppi display. Here's something I've been working on:
So... How violently ill were you?
Here's something I've been working on:
Are you planning on releasing it when the Vive comes out?
Are you planning on releasing it when the Vive comes out?
That's the aim, it's a bit rough around the edges at the moment but I suppose there's plenty of time to polish it up before release. [editline]3rd September 2015[/editline]
So... How violently ill were you?
Our VR room isn't called the Green Room for nothing
I wish I had a vive and a machine to run it, I have a Geiger counter made by one of the people currently working in valve hardware. He told me I could have it as long as I make a hack out of it and it would be interesting if I could attach it to a VR controller and see if I could capture the parts of an object that are radioactive. Use the Geiger counter to make a heat map of the object through dynamic texturing?
Dynamic visualization? Use the Geiger counter to make a heat map of the object through dynamic texturing?
Right, but that could easily be done without VR, in fact it would probably be easier without VR since you could just look at the actual object instead of a 3D model of the object. Unless you wanted to make your living room look like a laboratory or something, Im not sure what VR would add here :v:
Dynamic visualization? Use the Geiger counter to make a heat map of the object through dynamic texturing?
yes, but more of a 3d map that first came to mind. But what you said could also be done, the only different is that I would want to make out something that could be hidden even though alpha particles can easily be covered up. Unless they removed it, there is a camera on the vive or will be.
visualising how the different radioactive particles/waves work in a dynamic environment of different surfaces could be cool
I feel the VR would just be a byproduct of visualizing it, something you'd have to take data home and input into other software first, then export it out to UE or Unity to view
I feel the VR would just be a byproduct of visualizing it, something you'd have to take data home and input into other software first, then export it out to UE or Unity to view
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. VR is much more useful as a method of analyzing and interpreting that kind of data, as opposed to actually collecting it.
I'm not solely talking about the VR headset, I'm talking about using the tracking.
I'm not solely talking about the VR headset, I'm talking about using the tracking.
OOOHHHH, that makes much more sense There are probably a ton of uses for Lighthouse tracking outside of VR, now that I think about it. I wonder if it could be used as a lower-cost motion capture setup
Anyone here having problems with Vorpx running Garry's Mod? It worked for months but now it doesn't...it doesn't even hook into the game at all
I think what you guys are describing sounds more like using AR and not VR to visualize radiation areas or something
Overview of the talks that will be given at Oculus Connect 2: https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/announcing-oculus-connect-2-schedule-talks-and-speakers/
Designing Standing VR Experiences with Tracked Controllers with Alex Schwartz, CEO, Owlchemy Labs and Devin Reimer, CTO, Owlchemy Labs
They made that Job Simulator demo for the Vive. I guess they're more or less saying "these exact lessons work for the Oculus Touch too".
They made that Job Simulator demo for the Vive. I guess they're more or less saying "these exact lessons work for the Oculus Touch too".
pretty cool how you summarize the talk 3 weeks before it actually happens.
actually it would be interesting if people who've been keeping an eye on this could summarize what the entire event will talk about. Maybe some bets can take place.
Not sure if posted before, but AMD's beta drivers released august 31st have added support for SDK 0.7

I just want some gloves using the lighthouse system and a cardboard box and press buttons like that
Minority Report soon
Minority Report is a great example of how silly it is to use films as a blueprint for actual practical design. Your arms will be tired within a minute if you have to do such elaborate gestures to navigate a menu.
