I wasn't ever all that interested in GearVR, but $99 is enough to make me consider it. I mean, I still probably won't get it, but it's cheap enough that it's an interesting option for showing off VR anywhere.

Yeah $99 sounds nice but if you count the price of the smartphone aswell then it's one expensive VR.

I already happen to have an S6, so it's just $99 for me. I don't think anybody should get a GearVR if they don't already have one of the phones because like you said the cost is crazy.

you can also get the Zeiss VR ONE for 100 bones, they've got a few phone mounts and provide the data for 3D printing mounts for many more
or you could do cardboard
