I had no idea there was a Megathread for this. But seeing it hasn't been populated in about a year...
I've been playing this off and on for the last few days on PS4. I'm enjoying it a lot for the most part. Just feels like Skyrim with nudists running around. My main character is role-playing blacksmith but damn is it a slow process. Armor and Weapons? Of course they'll level up decently. But crafting? HA! I can see I'll be working my ass off for quite some time. Especially the researching aspect, at least until I unlock more research slots.
One of my mom's friends got me this game on my late birthday last year. Her son works for Bethesda with Skyrim and ESO as part of his work as a QA tester(I think he's a tester still, but I'm not sure if he moved up or not.) Hope he could land me a job there :v:.
Story aside, I've yet to touch this game ever since the Beta controversy and AJ's review of the game. I do plan on getting to it once I complete Guild Wars 2 in some form or another. How different is ESO now then it was in the beta?

It plays betters, the menu system is better, and the overall feel of the game is just improved. I did not like the beta and agreed with AJ review as well but i really like the game despite some things here and there.
So my graphics settings are low but I turned the textures all the way up. Why do they look this bad still?

I've probably put ~60 hours into this game on the PS4 and still going. Just started up a high-elf magicka night blade.
Also I think this really needs a new Op since this is like from before the game was even released
Game is fun so far but i can only play it in short bursts or it just gets a bit too repetitive.
I also don't really enjoy the public delve thingies because half the time i walk in to see a bunch of players running around with no enemies, then suddenly they are all respawning around me.

Don't know about the PC version, but on the console version as you get higher the delves start to empty out a bit.
Also if I find it gets too repetitive I try to hop into PVP for awhile then pop back to PVE since PVP can net you skill points and level up your skills anyway.
ESO is $15 on GMG right now, using a voucher it's $12. It's absolutely worth that price
Finally theres a proper thread. You cant talk to anyone about this game in the Elder scrolls thread. Well, lets get this out of the way, I hated the beta, bought the game 3 months ago, Love the game now. Good game. I think im almost lvl 35
Yeah, exactly, I mean everybody wanted to keep the ESO-talk in the Elder Scrolls thread but then I found that everyone pretty much ignored ESO-talk. Glad to see it's not because of nobody being interested in the game.
Anyway, I've been playing the game yesterday for a full day, got to level 10. I can only recommend to everyone here to play with a friend, as that makes the game infinitely more fun. If I was playing on my own I'd be bored pretty fast, but experiencing it with someone else truly makes it a great experience. I would agree though that at first, the combat is a bit... weird, but I'm used to it now. If that deal is still going, definitely get this game.
Also, I guess that we would need a new OP, but I'll probably suck at making it.
I keep getting side tracked by exploring places I shouldn't be yet or quests that send me to the other side of the territory. I've been trying to do all the quests in a particular area before I move on but goodness there are so many! I've probably missed a few for sure. But man is this game addicting.
I finally can work with steel crafting but I don't know where to find this high iron stuff. Is it just random what you dig up? I've been as far as Riften (i started as ebonheart) and I haven't seen any other types of deposites.

Yeah exactly, me and a mate were questing in this starter zone, thinking we'd be there for a while. Suddenly this questline takes us to a whole other island, on which there's a cool storyline apart from the one that we've been doing. That moment I just realised the scale of this game, it's massive.
Sadly, I can't help you with the iron stuff, I haven't been able to get that far yet.
This game will make you get ADD. It does actually do the thing Bethesda games are good at. You have a goal: To do this thing. But 4 hours pass and you still haven't done it because you get side tracked doing other shit
I think you need a few addons to really complete the game and make it really shine. Just Quality of Life shit that every MMO has.
Minimap
Quest Tracker
Inventory Grid View
RAETIA Info Hub
Foundry Tactical Combat
Skyshards map locations
And if you're a fucking klepto like this game makes me, Thief's Knapsack. It's all resizeable, moveable, you can choose what is shown. Good stuff

Yeah I do all the quest in the zone first then the story quest. One thing to realize is that the story quest and the quest in the zone are separate. There's kinda two stories going at the same time

One addon, called "Destinations" will show all the markers on a map, explored/unexplored (You can turn that off if you want) What's really useful though is you can toggle quest giver locations. Not only that, it'll show Main Quest givers in a different color. If you thought you did all the quests in an area, fucking guess again. The game does a good job at leading you into them through other quests, but you'll never catch them all. So this is useful

I sort of try not to use these kind of plugins, as I personally love it to unexpectedly bump into a quest giver, only to start a brand new storyline. It's sort of cool if you want to complete everything though.

The type of material you find is dependent on the zone you're in, and each is aesthetically different. In Stonefalls, you will only find iron and other tier 1 crafting materials. In the second zone, Deshaan, which is adjusted for level 15-25 characters, you'll find high iron ore and orichalcum. It continues up like this with each zone tier. Also, as you get to higher and higher tiers of equipment deposits, they get harder and harder to spot. While iron takes the form of gaudy, rust-red buttons on the landscape, high iron is brigher, more whitewashed color, and is more compact, jagged, and upright- still easy to spot, but marginally easier to miss. Orichalcum takes the form of indiscriminate grass-colored lumps, and is very easy to miss. I'm not sure what the rest of the tiers look like, but if the pattern continues ores will just be straight up invisible by the final tiers. :v:
You can also steal stuff and deconstruct it. The level of stolen weapons and armor scales to you. It's probably better than going out and finding the resource as it's readily available everywhere
Got to level 12, I'm really excited for the first dungeon. Would there be any point in farming it?
Does anyone know a good, preferably small, casual AD guild?
Got to level 12, I'm really excited for the first dungeon. Would there be any point in farming it?
Bet they nerfed it but at the start it was profitable to fan the final boss of any public dungeon due to uncommon drops
So, I asked in Zone chat earlier what the easiest way to level up was... The responses? "kids always want to know how to cheat and find shortcuts in games omg"
I'm 23 and just like progression. I told them that and then they went on "omg you're too old to be that stupid all MMOs are the same"
Seriously? This FUCKING community is shit, but the game is great. Though, it does take ages to level up... Meaning... Anyone know a really good way to just grind it out?
Sounds like you got a dickwagon. Zone chat seems pretty chill and laid back from what I've seen. People were talking about their favorite movies yesterday like it was some yahoo chatroom. No arguing, no LEL HUE HUE HUE talk
The best places to mob grind are where there's a lot of mobs close together that spawn frequently. Public Dungeons are probably best, but Delves seem to give reduced XP. There's a few spots on the continents
https://rakashieso.wordpress.com/category/guides/leveling-guides/
But honestly, it's probably just as fast to quest. So far only one grind spot I've found was truly quick, and it was 9-15
Zone 4, here.
Every other spot that claims to be a quick farm is no faster than questing, that I've found
Yeah I haven't actually seen zone chats act that toxic towards anyone myself... Yet. It's usually just a buncha idle chitchat and lame jokes that I often find funnier than they should be.
Did anyone bought it from Steam? The store page says we can't use existing ESO accounts to log in?
So is being a healer still trash, in regards to how you can't target allies effectively?
Stole this fabulous shirt from some dude's cabinet

I love being able to steal things but there's just barely anything worth stealing and almost no houses to break into.
Just hit VR1 today on my Dragonknight. It was a fun adventure but playing on the console really limits the experience and makes it insanely difficult to play at high levels (especially classes like mine where you have to maintain a timer in your head of each DoT effect on the enemy you have and I have to manage up to 3 at a time). You can't see anything other than the little debuff arrows showing health is draining so you have no idea what debuffs are on the enemy and what buffs are on you.
Really wish I got this for the PC (especially if I saw the post about it a couple days ago being so cheap) instead of console, addons would be insanely useful.
Yeah, I really wonder how people play this game on high level without addons. Tbh, they should just incorporate some addons into the game.
I moved to a new apartment and the internet is garbage here, going to have to wait for like a month until they install fiber so I can start playing online games again.
I've been having a blast on this game anyway.
God damn Veteran Ranks take FOREVER. I 100%'d Khenarthi's Roost and just finished out the beginning quests in Auridon and haven't got but like 10-15% for all of that :wideeye:

On the plus side I'm moving ever so slowly closer towards the Tamriel Hero title. Already got Covenant Hero
